I ordered a pink one from the $9.90 link, if it doesn't look like the pic I'll be asking for a refund.

LoL really?! If you don't like it you'll take all the time and effort to ship it back to China for $10? My time is worth more than that $10 I would get back.

They don't ask you to ship the item back when they're at fault or falsely advertise the item, so it takes about the same amount of time and effort as you just took to type out your useless post.

just received the blue bumper from ebay.

must say there's quite a significant difference in quality compared to the original apple bumper.

may not even attempt to use it at all.

Aside from the first image I don't really see anything to be considered bad quality, would it be possible to get some comparison shots. I have never seen a authentic apple bumper up close so I've got nothing to compare it with.

it's hard to desribe, but the feel of the material is different though they may look the same.

the original apple bumper feels more polished.

1. Is the "OEM" bumper you received thicker or thinner than the real bumper you have?

2. How is the fit when installed?

3. How well do the buttons work?

out of interest which one did you buy?

ive seen a few for $9.90 and $11.90. i went for the $11.90 in hope it would be slightly better quality if it isnt the real thing!

it looks good though, matches the real thing.

Got it from digitmall USD$11.90

Fit wise I would say not bad, pretty good.

Buttons works and tactile too, just slightly stiffer compared to the original bumper.

Feel wise, it's rather rough around the edges, not as refined and solid as the original.

sorry can't take pics of the fit as i'm using my ip4 to shoot.

yea same, i ordered the white one.

so the bumper comes in the apple packaging etc? eg can you tell the difference when it is in the packaging?

I received my blue bumper from this auction based in Florida. I think it is very, very good quality. In fact I'm not sure it isn't actually OEM from the same factory as the Apple bumpers as the China sellers claim. If it's not, it's a very good knockoff. I also purchased a ProClip bumper mount for my car, and it fits perfectly into it. It's the exact same size as an Apple bumper. I'm very satisfied with the purchase. Here's a couple pics of it on the phone:

Thanks!
Interesting, it looks more blue than the genuine Apple bumper. Could we get a picture from the side?

I ordered mine from the gong-wei seller in China, but I'll post back whenever I receive it. Probably mid-October, LOL.

Sorry for the quality, my camera is crap.

Exactly.

that looks very good, what kind of packaging did it come in?

I asked that seller to clarify if the cases were just really good duplicates, or if OEM meant they were from the same factory as the Apple cases. This was the reply

That sounds fishy, but for $10 I ordered a green one anyways. Now to wait 10-21 days.

That is pretty much how every Chinese factory contracted by multinationals ever has worked, it's the reason why many fakes in China are indistinguishable from the real thing- not because they're really, really good at copying/reverse engineering (they are, but not that good), but because the goods are made in the same factories using the same CAM programs and the same machines.

Many articles like this are available on the net, google 'third-shift' and 'counterfeiting'. Third-shift products aren't always counterfeit per se in that the quality of the materials used and the processes might be exactly the same as licensed products, but it's a copyright infringement in the same way that pirating software is- the consumer gets a product at no cost to the IP holder (besides lost sales) and the brand reputation isn't damaged through brands and trademarks on inferior goods, but the IP holder doesn't receive any royalties.

Are the metal buttons different? The buttons on the OEM bumper are dull/matte similar to the finish of the steel band. The buttons from the ebay bumper look shiny like a chrome finish.

They feel the same, but are shiny.

I got my orange and white today as well. I must say they are well made, I don't have a white bumper to compare it with, but i do have a black official bumper. The white oem feels a bit slippery in the hand, while the black official feels sturdy. Also the black bumper is a bit loose, while the white oem feels very snug. However, since it fits snug the cutout for the headphone jack looks slightly oval and not round like the black bumper. You really don't notice it much, also on my black bumper i can't see the matte screen protector line. On the white oem i can see the line, it doesn't cover it like the official bumper does, again not a serious issue. Also noticed it comes in the original black bumper packaging.

however my orange bumper, when placed on the phone, by the headphone jack it sticks up and doesn't lay flat. the white oem doesn't have this problem but the orange does. also the oem buttons stick out compared to the official bumpers which are flat and blend with the case.

Overall it's not bad for 10 bucks, however i might still buy an official white apple bumper anyway, this isn't a bad alternative though. now for the pics, i only have my phone taking pics so i can't provide pics of the bumper on the phone, but believe me the white looks fantastic on the phone, while the orange not so much.
