1) iPad can't record video, so you're telling me that you'd sync movies to the iPad from your computer ... to edit them on your iPad? Sounds backwards to me

2) I would expect an updated iPad with a camera, bumped specs and a slightly altered design at the iTunes event this fall when Apple upgrades the iTouch.

Wow. Apple did really step up its game with iPhone 4. I cant even think of another improvement they could have made here. Except for more memory maybe(and AT&T but I'm not in US so dont care about that :p).

Cant wait to get my hands on iPhone 4. It truly does change everything. All over again!

With all this talk about iMovie, anyone know how much space each minute of HD video will take up? It would seem that even a 32gb phone would fill up quickly.

Cool. Now if they can get us a time for when the white iPhone's will be available, I may be a happy customer.

Sweet! Now we just need confirmation that the A4 chip is powered at a full 1 GHz. That would seal the deal for me.

Awesome news. Even more excited for the 24th now. When I get mine, I'm installing the Checkup app to see what the clock speed on the A4 is.

clock speed

This is great news!! That was my one concern about the iPhone 4. I wish they would have put 512 in the iPad. No news on the clock speed yet?

It has a 1ghz ARM cortex A9 Multi-core processor with Apples seal of approval. Apple did not make the A4. ARM did and then Apple purchased ARM and called it an Apple processor. I'm sure Apple tweaked it a bit but ARM did all the work before the chip maker was acquired my Apple. The chip is technically 1.3ghz but has been clocked down by Apple to reduce heat and power consumption. Apple does this quite often with chips such as intel in imac, which are also all under clocked slightly.

Obviously the 256 in the iPad is disappointing as is the inability to run the iMovie App as it would be great to transfer that iPhone 4 HD video to the iPad to edit.

I love all the "but the iPad has..." complaints.

As if all future Apple products must stay the same as past products. Things improve as time moves forward. That's just the way it works.

Yeah, it sucks. I own that one Macbook Pro model that doesn't have firewire 800. The version before had it and the version after had it, but mine doesn't. Part of the whole "Intel Switch." Oh well, things work that way sometimes.

Good news. I was holding off on an iPad because I felt the specs could be better and this just confirms it: iPad 2 will have at least 512MB of RAM, a retina display and likely a camera for FaceTime.

There are too many false statements in this to correct.

There is so much wrong information in this post that I don't know where to start

iPhone , superior display and ram.

Now Apple confirms that the iPhone indeed has 512mb of ram.

Seems to me the iPad got screwed , first the display is superior now we have half the ram too. All this with just a 2 month window of release. Seems to me there should have been some shared r&d over at Apple.

Anyone that said the iPad is just a big iPhone was wrong.....

The iPhone is much more advanced now , just 2 months latter ...

A) The A4 is still A8 single core based

B) Apple has not bought ARM. There are rumors of them buying ARM Holdings, but they are just that so far, rumors.

C) Apple did buy a company recently that had the A8 at 1 Ghz and that chip is the A4( name of the company has slipped my mind)

D) Really the Core i7 is downclocked in my 27" iMac? Speed says it is 2.8 Ghz which is the advertised speed from Intel on the specific model of the i7 used in the iMac.
