Great phone, in my opinion. Some really nice features.

Technical question, though. What's the significance of naming '5.8Mbps HSUPA' as the upload speed whereas the 3GS has no specs related to this (besides the 7.2)? Any thoughts whether the a4 or and bumps in processing will boost the 3g past 3gs benchmark times? Or is the 4 basically going to be a fast on 3g as the 3gs? Thoughts? Thanks

Sure I've used it. iPhone's keyboard (speaking now of 3.1.3, obviously not 4.0) is vastly superior. Android's multitasking isn't far superior. It's done differently. Cut and paste on Android still blows. I don't really see how Android 2.2 is so "vastly superior". It's not.

I'm sorry you can't see that everything you're saying is opinion. But please try to realize that, and state it as such.

Here's why Android is infinitely superior. You don't like the stock keyboard on it. Fine. Neither do I. But guess what, I swapped it out for a great one (Swype). It's all about choices. I'd rather make my own choices rather than Apple deciding for me what I do and don't need. I'm mature enough to buy a phone and pay the monthly bills, so Im mature enough to decide how I want to use it.

thats a hard to notice circle! this is a out in the open grill!

Grab two pieces of paper: one white and one black. Using a black marker, draw a series of black dots on both pieces of paper. Can you see the black dots on the black piece of paper?

These are small holes in the black and white backings of the glass screen. They are there because proximity sensors can only see through clear materials. If the entire front of the phone was clear, then you could see the internals of the phone. That's not aesthetically pleasing, so Apple has cut out a series of small holes (larger circles in past models) in order for the ambient light and proximity sensors to see out.

So for those of us not lucky enough to be in the 6 month grace period upgrade window am I right in assuming the 4G will cost $100 on top of the $299 plus the $18 activation fee?

We can agree that Flash sucks. But what sucks worse is not having the CHOICE to view a video using Flash.

Choice, in and of itself, is not a virtue if the choices are not sufficiently attractive. That's just propaganda. Or fetishism, depending on how hard you're wanking.

Given the lackluster performance of Flash on mobile devices, I'm not overly concerned over the "lack" of choices.

I am also waiting for the stupid troll arguments that show how "better" the EVO is...

I've seen none so far, a sad realization for Android fanboys that is gonna grow even clearer now with the new iPhone.

YOU calling someone a fanboy? Look up common definition of that term - you are its epitome.

Wow, yeah. That's infinitely superior.

Look, Apple does what it does and they decide the user experience. Where have I seen that before? Oh yeah, the computers. As with them, if you don't like it, vote with your dollar and don't buy it. Having a myriad of choice doesn't automatically make the device superior, and often it makes things worse, as is often the case of Android.

BTW, Swype still isn't as accurate as iPhone's keyboard, IMO. It's like none of these guys developing the virtual keyboards have used an iPhone or iPT.

My message is clear because it was delivered via Sprint. See what I did there! And as I said, a lot of us post here because MAC RUMORS is more than just poorly made phones.

*cough*snort*

Ok, to be fair it has been years since I had the displeasure of having to deal with having to talk to people who were using a Sprint connection. People who I liked talking to but couldn't understand a word they said cause SPrint sucked so hard! Talk about static and not being able to understand a word they said. I finally asked them to stop calling me on their cellphones cause I couldn't understand them. I was so happy when they changed to Cingular. I could understand them perfectly!

Hopefully they've improved by now, but I can easily understand why they are an underdog at this point. I know I still wouldn't consider them as a carrier just by that experience (and they weren't hte only ones who had that problem with Sprint, my roommate's dad also had Sprint and had the same problem. He lived in a different area of country).

They are the one carrier you could not get me on even today (they may have changed but having to try to understand people on them back then left a very bad taste in my mouth about Sprint).

Most of the people I know today are on AT&T and I've hardly ever had an issue understanding them or getting a connected call. Certainly have had way more better experience with AT&T calls and I've had a longer experience meaning more chance for AT&T to piss me off.

Maybe someone will stay on track and answer the one question I still have not been able to find an answer for. Does anyone know the size of the RAM on this model? I have still not been able to find it anywhere.

We will not know until iFixit or similar gets their hands on one (which will most likely be on or around launch day). Either that or Apple flat out reveals it, but that'll be unlikely.

I just hate seeing people in denial. The phone is good, but it's not amazing specs wise. Apple could do a lot better.

People love to hate. You're going to first hear from the people that don't like the design. Doesn't mean most don't like it. I think it's beautiful, and thinner is a god send.

As far as specs, if you're into specs you shouldn't be buying apple. If you buy whatever device has the most features, you shouldn't be buying apple. Sometimes I wonder if some of you actually buy apple products or just pretend.

Yay, great screen on a phone with a lousy OS and attached to a phone that can't maintain a simple phone call. Yay!

Oh, but remember, the screen doesn't matter because the human eye can't tell the difference. Remember when you said that like an hour ago?

And now that reports are coming in that the screen is gorgeous you have to hate on something else. So now it's the OS. Just admit you're a troll and go surf the web on your brick of a phone.

I mean, honestly, I know it sucks to be a jealous hater, and it's so obvious that's what you are. If you weren't, if you were honestly happy with your piece of crap phone, you'd be out enjoying it, or talking with others that have the same piece of crap phone.

If you're going to troll, don't be so transparent. If you're actually a little kid I apologize and I hope your mommy is back soon to show you some attention that it seems your lacking.

:)

The poll was made after evidence came out that this was a real prototype, but when people were under the impression it was fake, nearly everyone thought it was ugly. I just hate seeing people in denial. The phone is good, but it's not amazing specs wise. Apple could do a lot better.

I would say those people you refer to were in denial back then. Good for them for coming out of denial, don't you agree?

Many put the blame solely on ATT, but its the phone. My mother-in-law has ATT and in spots where my iphone did nothing but drop calls, hers maintained service just fine. I love the new design of the iPhone. Love it. But as I said, it's first and foremost a phone. And as phones go, it's simply dreadful.

Maybe wait until you use the new phone. As of right now, you have no idea if the reception has been improved by the new antenna system.

Why are all the blogs and uninformed people on the web calling it the iPhone 4G, isn't it just iPhone 4?

dude your the only one trolling this forum today, also the only fanboy. I bet you have never even used an android phone outside of a 1.5 1.6 build, and much less an EVO... so please stop your delusional trolling i can't believe you actually got me to log in and respond to your trolling i guess that means you win..........

3. It's obvious the iPhone 4's screen is better than anyone else's.

The quality and pixel density of iPhone 4 screen is impressive, no question about that. However, 3.5" screen is too small by today's premier smartphone standards.

It is disappointing that Apple didn't kick up the screen to at least 3.7", to make it on par with Nexus One, Droid Incredible, etc. You can make the resolution 1920x1280 - but there is still only so much information you can usefully read on a small 3.5" screen.

4.3" screen with 480x800 resolution can display significantly more readable information than iPhone's higher res 3.5" screen. I'd take larger screen and less scrolling over high pixel density.

Apparently you're not mature enough to click a single button to jailbreak though.

This place truly has become even more of a time flusher than it already was. The opinions as fact thing is truly getting old. So is stating the obvious.

"Apple products don't give me choice! I can buy this for less and do whatever I want!"

Sure. We know. Welcome to 1997.

Yes, everyone's entitled to their opinion, I just get tired of reading the same crap over and over and over again.

Just goes to show what a good photographer can do. One of the many things that Gizmodo lacked.
