What are you people doing with your home buttons? I've had like five iPhones and never had a single problem with a home button. And iTunes Match and iCloud haven't given me any trouble either.

Every time someone on this board doesn't speak of their iPhone as its the greatest piece of electronics to ever exist, they are attacked by the fan-boys who can't see the forest through the trees.

No, I think the attacks are because the posts are pretty stupid.

If something breaks and you decide to buy something else, just go buy it. Why all the drama?

We All Need Some Post Resurrection

Just a Little (of my) Time Intervention

(that's the Alison Moyet tribute done)

Well here's an update, not that anyone will want one but what the heck.

Button on phone fixed for £28, total bargain and working great, should see me through to version 6.

Believe it or not I got a replacement GT 7600 (was GT 7300) for late 06 imac on ebay (sent from USA), installed last week and working great (took me about twice as long as the experts on you tube etc). Life is good. Anyone with same issue should patiently check e-bay even to have a nice back up computer.

I'm in love with Apple again and going to get mac mini when over skiing this year, along with a couple more ATV's - oh hell and probably an iPad mini, prices are so freaking good over the pond.

You were right about the iMac, I was a bit of a moan, still reckon I was right re phone though.

Hope everyone has a lovely day.

I sold my ip5 and bought a Samsung GS3 and then a nexus4.
All I can say is thank goodness for the hype on the nexus4 as I was able to sell it for an inflated price to return to the ip5.
The grass I'd definitely not greener on the other side.

I think you are kind of a crybaby.

OP: I had experience the same issues you are listing.
You are absolutely right, Apple's quality control has gone terrible down the toilet. This is a natural thing for companies that do not control their manufacturing and relay on their suppliers.
The 2006 plastic MacBook was a mess with the plastic case around the wrist rest area always breaking there, I had mine replaced a couple of times, the battery lasted nothing and the MagSafe connector failed several times due to the connector itself, the bridge board and then frying the logic board.
Despite all these issues it was a great computer, and Apple services without any major hassle.
The iPhone 4 home button is not robust enough, as it accumulates any typical skin debris from our hands and any dirt that goes in as you normally use it. Apple has not recognized this yet, as the most if the genius out there were formed under the guy that was recently ousted.
Just give it a try one more time with the Genius Bar manager and ask for fix.
The issue is they no Ionger service the replacement of the button as it is labor intensive and their 'policies' don't allow it as a regular service, hopefully they will fix their processes soon.
In the mean time use Assitive Touch to have a virtual home button.
The dock connector also went out in mine.
I order the replacement parts from ifixit.com and will replace them myself.
The iPhone 5 makes things great again, do not hesitate making the upgrade if you can.
iTunes Match is now working after the latest releases. It was terrible.
All these are quality issues that get fixed, and should not happen, but for them is cheaper to replace things under warranty and make people believe that paying for AppleCare is a good investment. Just understand properly what the issue is and demand good service. If more people behave like customers we will have even better service.
Now think this: if your HTC experience these issues will you be able to go to HTC store and get to talk to a service person to try to service it? Or your carrier? ifixit.com parts? ifixit.com instructions?
Loose all your Apps?

I too experience, having my iPhone 4 home button, die on me. There is a cool function under "settings" which turns on a virtual "Home" button. In my country, it cost US $286 to swap out a damage iPhone that is out of warranty, not too pricy considering that they replace the entire phone in contrast to just merely repairing it. I took the cheaper route and got the iPhone repaired by a 3rd party for about US $35.

My iPhone 4S hold out well. No button problem whatsoever.

On a side note, the iPhone 5 button seems to be tougher than previous versions of iPhones, it also has a more satisfying click. hopefully it stands the test of time. #
