i've had many phones... blackberry, android, iphone.. lets just take blackberry out of the pictures just because well.. they do absolutely nothing...
I think htc did an AMAZING job on designing that phone. I agree just like everyone else that the evo is disgusting ugly. But the fact that they incorporated and hdmi port, kickstand, 8 mb camera, and a 4.3 inch display.. thats ingenious. I'm an apple fan but we can't always be biased. the iphone isn't the only phone out there now. competitors have finally replicated and maybe in some areas surpassed what the iphone can do.

As far as people saying that itunes is the king of sync management. To me its a pain in the ass. there are so many issues with my phone trying to sync and if i dont manually manage my music and apps, it will automatically delete and add programs i didnt even want. Android has over the air backup that incorporates your gmail account.. applications are also able to backup without ever needing to sync through a computer...

I kind of feel weird bashing on apple but its the honest truth. And what else pisses me off is that apple STILL has not spoken in regards to the antenna issue. Fixing the "formula" and having the bars show less is going to piss me off even more. We're going to be showing 1-2 bars now. fantastic..

But in the end. apple prevails as far as consumer loyalty.. i mean look at me.. i just ranted on about how much i dislike apple yet i'm still waiting for my i4 in the mail. -_-

Consumer Reports has it beat the HTC EVO by 2 points putting the EVO in a tie with the iP3GS. Even after reporting on the Antenna Issue.

Must really get to the Droid fanboys that their phone comes in second to a phone that Consumer Reports can't give a purchase recommendation to. :)

Oh the old "High sales = Best phone" mantra... wow didnt see that coming.;)

Ask him, what the best desktop OS is! Suddenly, terms like 'bargain bucket' will come up from all over the place. Yet, when the bestseller is Apple, that's fine.

I dont trip, I can actually stay on my feet. With the weight of that evo im suprised you can actually stand straight up without it pulling you over while you hold it infront of you. But i guess thats what the kickstand is for

How small are you? Does 1oz make that difference for you?

To those spouting the "more sales = better product" argument - I presume none of you will defend OS X, amirite?

Exactly, Windows has a install base well over 1 billion. OSX, somewhere in the 50 million range???

But I digress, I hate that argument.

You sound like a commercial. Just proves that all Apple fanboys are drones. Not trolling, just saying what I think is the truth. The amount of fanboyism here is ludicrous.

So since I enjoy my Apple products, I'm a fanboy drone? The iPhone is the best phone I have ever used, what's wrong with saying that? And one of the selling pointed for me is how all my multimedia syncs together. I'm sorry, but the EVO cannot manage or create mulitmedia the way that the iPhone 4 can. I guess you're just an Android FANBOY (Look! I can troll too!)

Ignorance is bliss...

They point out the antenna flaw as a big issue, but how come they don't point out that the EVO has MASSIVE light leakage and screen separation problems? It's total BS in my opinion. The iPhone 4 has changed the smartphone market yet again and everyone wants to suck the EVO's huge, ugly penis. Drives me nuts.

while i don't like the EVO the reason why those issues are not pointed out as opposed to the antenna is because those are manufacturing/quality control issues vs a design issue. a light leak while annoying doesn''t keep you from using the device

Since when has apple won anything on cnet? Cnet pretty much hates apple and ever since they sold out to CBS they have become useless IMO.

The problem with that is that your talking two very different price points. Both OSX and Windows are tied to much more expensive hardware than spending a couple hundred bucks on a phone. When people factor out money and choose what they want in a phone it's clear that millions are picking the iphone.

When they buy a computer and want to be cheap they buy windows ;):D

Almost everything I have seen on cnet favors apple until the moto droid, and nexus one arrived... Watch the prize fights, even after being dated since the time of the i910, cnet still picked apple as the best cell phones, what a joke that is.... Apple is awesome, just way over rated, and WAY over priced!!! USED THEM BOTH FOR HOURS, they are great, evo is just better ! Sounds like apple is doing its job of leaving everyone wanting, better luck next year...

Areohdee- quad core 2.3 ghz, 8gb ram, 3-19" motors set on eyefinity, 1- visiontek 5870, 2-320 gb hardrives, dual boot o.s. win 7, and xp... Running a native res of 4032x1024 (that calls for a smiley face, trust me)... COST-$800

The screen can fall out of the EVO. Sometimes the screens are improperly grounded. The battery life stinks. It is ugly. I tried out the camera, and compared to the iPhone, it is grainy and the colors lack saturation. It is as expensive to own and operate as an iPhone (sometimes more, depending on what extras you choose). Other than that, it's great.

i cant even download files onto my iphone (besides pictures). File management? third party? drag n drop? what a joke. I miss froyo on my rooted N1 when it comes to function. but I stay with the ip4 because of its form. OH how sexy it is. And for 90% of situations in which i use my smartphone daily, the iphone 4 is very capable, it does the job just fine. I wait for gingerbread and the next great htc, and then the ip5, I'm on a 6 month rotating schedule between android and iphone. word.

The Evo wins... Almost every real news letter/tech journal has already stated that the Evo is better than the iphone 4, so this is no surprise to me... Having used both for long periods of time, the evo is a neuter phone/all in one over all... The iphone 4 does many great things and some even better than the Evo, BUT the Evo just does way more.... So yea the Evo wins, and yes I already knew this as I ditched the 3gs and went Android a while ago... Iphones are great, but this one was dated upon release which has never been the case. Shame on them for this, I wanted the higher camera, the radio, the kick stand, the hdmi out, the 4G, etc... Apple wouldn't give me the latest & greatest, so I went Evo... There was a free 30 trial, so I did it, I can't even remember why I lived with such restrictions for so long... Goodbye Apple, Hello Htc.... Evo

I have both. There is no way the EVO wins....
- The battery is TERRIBLE on the EVO.
- While the EVO screen is ok, the iPhone 4 screen is so much better.
- Android apps stink. Good luck finding a replacement for all your iPhone apps if you switch.
- If you use your iPhone to listen to music, don't even consider switching to Android. The music app is awful.
- The iOS email app is miles ahead of the Android email app.
- The EVO takes terrible video

These are my findings. Others may disagree.

The one thing that always sticks out on Android/HTC is how juddery the pinch to zoom is. I still believe Safari is the iPhone's trump card, even without Flash it's a smooth and almost desktop like browsing experience on the go.

that juddery is the text formatting. If you don't like it just turn it off and it's smooth like Safari, but then you'll have to scroll to read text just like in Safari. So You=FAIL

Yesterday I went to my local Sprint store (first time) to check out the HTC Evo 4G. First thing I noticed was how there was hardly anybody there (I have to sign in at the AT&T store all the time!).
I wanted to know the competition so when I was handed one, I began to play with it and then brought out my iPhone 4 for a side to side comparison. I found the Evo to be not as big as I thought it would be and actually felt good in my hands. The larger screen was a definite plus, but what I immediately noticed was when navigating thru Evo it was not as smooth as my iPhone 4. It was a little more confusing getting in or out, or even just finding certain apps. I like how a menu bar pops up at the bottom, but it was not as responsive and found myself tapping repeatedly. Soon the sales rep came to check what I was doing and when he saw the iPhone 4 for the first time, was quite intrigued. I played some more with the Evo then left feeling very confident with my choice.
I have been more than elated with my iPhone 4, having downloaded more than 100 apps into various folders and 600+ songs into the built in iPod. Getting into any of them is so quick and effortless. I've had zero issues with calls and the still/video camera works easily with impressive results. The HTC Evo 4G is a fine competitor, as so are the other ever expanding Android phones. It all comes down to preference and I would highly recommend going out to the respective cellular stores to find first hand what is right for you. ;)

Thats just silly, and people know it (read the reviews) !!!

Watch my youtube video, and you will see how silly you sound... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hG1k5feZA50

-I just received 2-1800mah Batteries for $20.00 on ebay (now have 3 which will out do your one at least twice over), and a 32 gb micro for $40.00...

-A 42" 720 HDTV is WAY better than a 22" 1080 HDTV !!!

-On average most people have between 20-50 apps at any one time (not 200,000) BUT I DO AGREE THE APPLE STORE IS BETTER !!!

-The Video is great, BUT not as good as the iPhone 4 in 720...

-I get an Email, it tells me, then I send one back... I attach pictures, songs, etc... (works pretty damn good, what else do you want)???

-I don't HOLD my phone when watching video, I have a kickstand !!!

-FREE TV

-HDMI out !!!

-FREE Tethering

-FREE turn by turn navigation

-4G Ready (not Evo 4, but EVO 4G) !!!

-A REAL FM radio, No streaming needed !!!

-My call quality is great (Sprint=CDMA, VERIZON=CDMA, you do the math)

-ETC, Etc, etc...

Not to mention in Steve Job's keynote speach he said it helped some guy get a girl interested in him, lol, really??? DO we need a phone to pick up girls? I don't !!! Also, for the people who DO HAVE problems with there phones reception, apple has been REAL CUSTOMER FRIENDLY (sarcasm)... Thats just poor business...

As almost every website from Cnet to Techno Buffalo have already stated, THE EVO IS BETTER !!!! The iPhone 4 is simply "LACKING"

Re-read your post and see how silly YOU sound. Plus your video was so ridiculous, there aren't even words. Comparisons of specs don't prove much. It's about how you use it, how it feels, and what works best for the user.

Look, that's your opinion about Android/EVO/HTC/Sprint/etc., but you're on a Mac forum. Obviously most of us here believe the iPhone is superior. Just because you think differently does not make it fact.

Battery life has been fixed with the firmware update supposely. I found all my Iphone replacements on Android's market place. The Evo's music player is fine but I use bTunes which is pretty much the Iphones music player. Video isn't terrible but it doesn't look as good as the Iphone 4. EVO wins.

*EDIT* forgot to mention that MixZing Player app on Android is another great player.

I did my research, for $270 I got the evo, 3 batteries, and a32 gb card.... It destroys the iphone 4, just like cnet says.. Go get a bumper, and deal, there is nothing wrong with second place.... Get used to it... Go evo...

Hmm..A newbie joins in July and does nothing but attack iPhone owners and say how much better his EVO is. Wouldn't it be a better idea to post in an Android forum? Just asking
