iPhone 4 Orders Being 'Prepared for Shipment'

I am pretty sure no matter what no one is getting their phone earlier than the 24th. Apple has been known to contact the shipping companies and tell them to hold the product til the proper date.
Ok, there might be a few that get through early but don't get your hopes up just yet. Besides, it is only 5 more days to go.

This is correct. If you look at the FedEx tracker page, it shows that delivery is scheduled for 6/24.
I think I'm just more satisfied by the fact that I can sleep in peace, knowing that my order won't be cancelled.
I have been checking a delivery status app I have on my iMac and iPhone. I don't have access to my dad's email account. I am sure that he got an email probably.
Not sure how the others are doing it.
As for pre-signing I generally avoid it. I like to make sure I am there for the item. I also usually make sure and have the day off to be home when the delivery guy arrives. Depending on the value you may not want it just sitting out on your doorstep where anyone can walk by and take it.
Kinda wish I'd spent the extra $100 to get the 32GB version.. Would be nice for these to be delivered on the 23rd. You would think if Apple wanted these strictly delivered on that date, there wouldn't be the 23rd showing.. Who knows

Pre-sign never works for me. I always sign for it, leave it on the door as requested, and then they leave a message saying they couldn't deliver and I have to wait for the next day or pick it up.
BTW, I live in the middle of nowhere, no one would take it.
Just checked for you, and it says my order was placed 4:12pm PDT. I placed the order through Apple's website, and using my current first gen (2g) iPhone, lol. I got my confirmation email from Apple at 9:29pm EDT, so a little over 2 hours later. I had to work all day, but kept trying every time I got a free moment, so I was real lucky to get through, despite all the frustration.
Yeah thats why I asked I am in the middle of nowhere too haha.

I pre-sign for everything and have never had a problem. You simply print out the pre-sign sheet, sign (and maybe date) the paper and then affix to your door. The delivery is then supposed to be left where you specify on the pre-sign sheet (if different from front door).
I live on 2 acres and come home from work for lunch so I am not worried at all about theft from my porch. I would agree with others that live in a more residential area and probably not pre-sign if you have any concerns.
If you refresh the tracking numbers, usually you can see when they deliver and leave on your porch and could then instruct someone you trust to go and pick it up for you.

My wife got the shipment notice this morning for her 32gb iphone, she ordered hers about 10 minutes in front of mine. However mine still is prepping for shipping as of 10:00 am EST. Her notice came in around midnight last night, which would have been Monday Morning in China. She ordered hers at 14:18 PDT while mine was placed at 4:24 PDT. As of right now, her's is sitting in Hong Kong and I'm still waiting for my tracking number

it took one day to deliver from China to Alaska one day US custom and one day over night shipping.

My order was shipped via FedEx International Economy. It changed from prepared for shipment to shipped within the last couple of hours. My iPhone order went through on the the 15th around 7pm EST.
I ordered 7:32PM PDT and mine just switched to preparred for shipment today. And mine is a July 2nd ship date even

They did the Ipad's like this if I remember right, lucky enough to get our 3G Ipads on launch which was pretty cool. Decided to order a pair of 27 inch Imac's today, however they said 3 days shipping, apparently if it's custom configured it takes longer. I believe however these ship from the U.S. so i will probably get those this week too.
