iPhone 4 Orders Being 'Prepared for Shipment'

We've seen what "Later this summer" means to Apple/AT&T. I think they owe us a better timeframe and an apology for having the pre-order so close to WWDC with such a half assed system for pre-ordering. People getting orders cancelled, disappearing from the system, suddenly half of your options aren't even available (White 16/21GB). It's a complete joke.
Yep, that's exactly what mine says (but that's what it said the day I placed the order). It will probably ship by Monday or Tuesday if it's to arrive on Thursday, assuming it comes from China like most other peoples' phones.
They gave a date - the first orders will most likely get that date
They can only deliver what they have in stock and its oversubscribed.

Started the process around 3am in California. No luck all morning. Tried AT&T and bombed out on their system. Finally got an order through Apple at 4:22 on the 15th.
On the 17th I get a confirm email from AT&T about my order going through. Even with the system bombing on me, their system actually took the order but no confirm for two days.
Immediately called Apple and then AT&T which resulted in canceling AT&T order so that I wouldn't have problem with two orders. Got cancel confirm notice right away.
Last night everything is fine delivery on the 24th. This AM my order at Apple cancelled. Trying to get it reinstated.
Once I had the whole situation sorted out turns out I was orginally given bad info from Apple, called At&T and they too gave me the wrong info. Turns out I should have never cancelled the duplicate order and Apple's would have cancelled automatically and AT&T order would have been fine.
Elligibility has now been reset trying to get Apple to reinstate the order. Won't know until Monday. Not pleased.
Collossal waste of many, many hours.

If you won't wait - expect to be subject to a crush you are choosing to make worse.
I do feel for your frustration - but when you fall through the cracks in a system that you yourself are overloading - maybe a portion of the fault is as much yours as anyone else's?
If you knew it was going to be busy and oversubscribed - it was your choice to persevere instead of waiting a month.
You might as well try to see the funny side, it won't change the end result - but it will make the wait less annoying.
If you won't wait - expect to be subject to a crush you are choosing to make worse.

My battery needs replacing on my older phone. Should I spend $99 on a battery and then get rid of the phone in a month? Or just spend the $199 now and have a phone that has a fighting chance of getting through the day?
Orders shipping already???
I know there will be doubters but I just checked my dad's pre-order and the Apple site says it has shipped already and gave me the tracking number.
I clicked on it and the info isn't in the system yet but I am in shock.
I'll post a pic when I can but just curious: what personal info needs to be blocked out before posting? What is the sensitive stuff to blur out?

I ordered 2, one says prepared for shipment (order time 1:03 AM PDT) the other is still not yet shipped (8:30 PM PDT)
Think there is still a chance the other will ship? It says July 2nd shipment date.

I would blur the tracking number, your name, order number and any payment or address info.

I have 2 orders though.. one with AT&T and one with Apple (because I never got the email from ATT saying it went through).. and I called AT&T to cancel that order and she said she did but it never went through. She even talked to Apple to make sure that the AT&T one was cancelled and the Apple would still be good. I figured the Apple order would be cancelled eventually, but it wasn't.
Can't wait!

Just got the email! I know it's just a phone, but it's hard not to get sucked into the excitement, lol. Debating on whether I should do that presign option now...
