This link pretty well covers what things could get pretty much everyone here to update...

I think the next iPhone will absolutely adopt a dual core Cortex A9 processor.

Apple really doesn't have a choice. The dual core A9 gives MUCH better battery life than the current cpu, since it uses a lot less power and generates much less heat in typical usage scenarios. Plus, every other smartphone this year will be offering it.

I'm a developer. I'll probably have to buy any popular new iPhone (whatever it is) to make sure my apps work on it, and to also give me a chance to update my apps to use any cool new hardware features.

It really depends on how much of an upgrade it is, and how much I can get for my (officially unlocked) iPhone 4 on eBay: I always buy my phones unsubsidised because I prefer the flexibility of being able to upgrade when I want to, not when my carrier wants me to

If it has a phone that is up to the standard set by my AT&T BlackBerry, then I will sell my iPhone 4 and immediately upgrade.

I really like the iP4 for everything else, but the phone is nearly unusable. If I take a call people always say "I can't hear you". Thankfully my AT&T BlackBerry issued by my work, makes really great, clear calls no matter where I'm at.

I'm really hoping that iP5 will have a working phone.

I can't think of anything the Iphone 5 could add that would warrant an upgrade after only 8 months of me having the 4.

I'm sure Apple has something instore that will make me think twice (their smart like that), but I'm extremely pleased with the 4.

Are we talking about something that doesn't exist? (again) lol

Yep. But it looks like the domain MacFacts.com is open if you were hoping someone would start a forum dealing only with the present-tense. ;)

Back on topic, it would not take much to get me to upgrade. Sell the old one, get the new one... Done it every summer since the beginning, and never regretted it. :)

Probably not as the jump wont be as big.

Can't afford to keep with these things lol!

Nope, I'm too cheap/poor. My contract won't run out until the next year and I have no qualms with my iphone 4 (I had more with the 3G, not so great GPS chip, crappy camera, no video. All solved by the 4) so I'll just wait til it does. Just like when the 3GS came out and I stayed with my 3G. Sure, there was some stuff extra I liked, but it wasn't like I disliked my current phone and I'm not rich enough to pay for a 750 dollar device every year (nevermind if I just wait another year it will be less than 1/3 the price when my contract expires). And for the 3G to 3GS, it wasn't even like there was a big enough difference that it really created that much jealousy in me that I couldn't have it (and I'm glad I waited cause the 4 is definitely a good bit of difference from the 3G and it pretty much addressed everything that I wanted to see improved in the 3G).

I can't believe some of the replies on this thread. Talk about more money than brains...

Well for me personally, I'm single, so I can spend ALL extra money on myself...which is what I plan to do ...... On apple stuff. :D

No offense but we're not here to judge how others spend their money. We have no idea how much discretionary funds they have available or their priorities.

Its their money and their choice.

None taken...

Probably 'no.' I went from the 3G to the 4, so I'm ok to wait 2 years.

But IF the i4 can be sold to cover most of the difference, sure, I'd do it. I'm not sure, though. I think at&t will sell me a new iPhone for $450 every year based on how much money I pay with my family plan.

So I dunno...do we think a 32 GB i4 will sell for $400 this summer? If it can, I'll upgrade and pay the extra $50. If it can't, I'll just keep it another year.

I don't feel I can answer either way on the poll.
