Iphone 4 Phantom Skinz review

I ordered the matte back, it supposedly shipped about 2 weeks ago and I have yet to receive it. I am in NYC.

lol you're right I don't know what I was thinking when I typed front. Checking PM now.

it's still nice to hear that everything else is holding back. I am just kind of disappointed from phantomskinz since it's a wet install. I prefer dry, like SGP's.
I am gonna make the solution and put it in a window like spray so I don't mess up :D I have faith in phantomskinz since all that on and off with cases and bumper and no peeling on the sides and corners. Nice, really nice :)

Very nice pics, and well applicated too.

i have also used a fair few on my 3GS.

I am about to get an iPhone 4, i have already purchased the front and back protectors from a company i also used for my 3GS (ebay). So i dont need the front and back bits of the phantomskinz.

The question i need answering if you will, is how solid are the protectors attached around the antenna band? do they stick on well and hold up well? I wish there was an option to just buy these bits as they are the ones i need! But with the summer sale coupon you provided (thank you), im not too fussed spending $17.46 + shipping (UK) just for the antenna protection.

what are your thoughts and input?

thanks!

The antenna band pieces really are perfect.

I'm not kidding, I swap between cases a lot. I have a white, black bumper and a Speck GeoMetric. I rotate between all those or sometimes just go nude in a pouch. :D

The side pieces are perfect, no peeling at all, they look exactly like they do in the pics I originally posted. If I didn't just put my Speck back on I'd take pics. Next time I'm "nude" I'll update this thread.

:)

Here are some quick high quality shots of my Matte back kit (with sides), and SGP OP front. I am really loving this combo!

Thanks!

That is a good idea, it is kind of annoying how that part is so exposed.

Yeah that's how I felt. One reason because it left an area exposed to be scratched which defeats the purpose of the skins, and also how it felt, like my fingers felt uneven on the phone. lol

I ordered the matte, back only.

Overall, I'm satisfied with it, however, I think I may have been too aggressive with the "smoothing tool" or whatever it's called when I was trying to get bubbles out and some how a hair got underneath the slip (I seriously have no idea how.. I wiped the iPhone multiple times and I never even noticed it (visually) until after I used the smoothing tool, thinking it was a hair on the top that somehow got on it but it was in fact underneath it.. funny how these things happen).

The end product is satisfactory, though I'm considering either trying to reapply this one or using the second sheet that they sent me. There are a few scratched-looking spots where I pushed a little too hard with the smoothing tool to get these stubborn bubbles out, rather than letting it naturally settle.

Finished look: matte back with black Apple bumper. Could hardly be happier :)

Now I just got to get that ProClip dash mount for my car and my cell phone experience will be complete..

Any issues with the camera flash?

You judge. Left is a picture I took the third day I had the phone. The right is a picture I took a few minutes ago of virtually the same thing.

NOTE: The left picture was taken at night with lights/tv off. The right one has lights/tv off, but the storm drain window (my room is in the basement) has a small black curtain over it that only blocks so much so there is SOME daylight.

So, any updates on using Phantom Skinz w a bumper? My dad has the Wrapsol Ultra on his, just got a bumper, and it's getting peeled off already.

I like these skins but they do not work well with a bumper case. The front edge of the bumper case will cause the front of the skin to lift up a bit right at the edge, and it is noticable.

Hey guys. Are the sides wet install too?

I had the SGP EX Ultra Crystal but getting ready to swap to SGP Oleophobic front with matte sides and back.

I'm thinking back done first, then sides, then olephobic front after.

Anyway, any advice on the sides? When I did the SGP sides, they stretch and overlapped each other and were really tough to get on straight. Any tips? Wet install the sides too?

Thanks!

Yes.

Just finished. That takes forever!

Overall I think wet is easier than dry now. My SGP Ultra I had on the front I had gotten perfect! No dust and you couldn't even tell it was there. Moving to the oleophobic as my last step I rushed and got dust. Blurg. Looks decent still though and the oleophobic is great and minimizing fingerprints so far.

The matte looks great and was easier than I thought. It feels weird getting the phone wet though. Even though its not much, it doesn't seem right. I got nervous around the headphone jack.

Good news, I get to do my wife's phone when it show up tomorrow. Doh!

I ordered on Monday (I think, maybe Tuesday) and received the skins today.

Good stuff. :)

Hi Ferris,

I saw that u highly recommended Wrapsol previously. Will this be better than Wrapsol? Cuz I finally found a shop selling Wrapsol and was almost gonna get it for my iphone 4. Do u think i should go ahead with the Wrapsol Ultra + drop thingy? Thanks!

I really like the matte finish and plan on ordering it whenever I get an iPhone. There are too many threads on here comparing all the different front screen protectors, somebody should make just one big thread for easier viewing. I would also like to find decent side films because I'm not a fan of cases and want something to help with the death grip.
