well the magic of the MacRumors forum - my phone is in so got on the list at NYC 5th ave on 7/2 received the pick up email on 7/21
 
I received my email at 8:50am. The Apple store opens at 10:00am. I called and asked them how strict the 24 hours are because I won't be able to pick it up until they open tomorrow morning at 10. They told me I would be too late and that my 24 hours runs out before they even open! I practically had to beg and plead for them to give me until 11:00am tomorrow to pick up the phone. Apparently my local Apple store is a bit more strict than some.

That's a little ridiculous. But I suppose they don't want to sit on them for too long because there are clearly people who want them NOW.

Thanks for updating with the time you received the emails guys. I was wondering if the process was all done via automation once it sees the numbers changed in stock or if a worker at the store manually sends them.
 
FINALLY!!! 11:12 a.m. my email came!

Put on list: 7/2
Pickup: 7/21

Never got a email in between. I can't wait to go home now!
 
I got the email today and it says my reservation expires tomorrow. So my friend is going tomorrow around noon to pick it up.
Any papers she'll need other than the confirmation email?
 
Day 19, called the store this morning and verified my name is still on the list. Looks like Im waiting at least another day.
 
Just curious...... are any of you calling Best Buy, Radio Shack or AT&T Stores?

A couple of AT&T Stores in my area have told me that if you preorder with them (meaning you pay for it up front), you will have your iP4 in 7 business days.

I called Best Buy yesterday, and they had plenty in stock.....they had a dozen or two- I saw how many they had when the guy opened the cupboard to grab mine.

I decided two days ago that I wanted one, and went to the Century City Apple Store. They actually had a few 32 GB iP4's in stock for walk-in customers:eek:, but I decided that I don't need the 32 anymore (my 3GS is 32 GB, and I don't listen to half the music I have on it). So, I put myself on three Apple Store waiting lists for the 16. Yesterday I decided to call Best Buy, and they had them in stock. It took me one day to find one.

Are you guys just waiting for Apple to contact you, or are you actively hunting in other places as well?
 
Day 1 for me ;) - I want the white one, but figured I'd get myself on a list 'just in case'. I'm on the list in the Columbia, MD apple store - for 32 gig.

The email I received basically says [translating from French]: reservation expiry date on July 22nd. I clicked on the list of items I would need and they basically have a disclaimer saying: we will keep your phone until the appointed date. If you fail to collect it on that date, it will be placed in circulation.
So you should be able to pick it up tomorrow at any time.

Got on the list the evening of July 14. Got the email a few minutes ago.

Just under 7 days.
 
I waited one day.

Got on list at Portland Bridgeport store on Monday evening - next morning got the email saying to come on down.

Not sure why this store doesn't have the backlog that others do.

It was for the 32 gig...
 
What are you serious man? You think people have been waiting for 20 days and havnt checked the other sources? Read some of the thread. It depends on the demand in your area- here in Boston I've called over 20 retailers for 3 weeks now... your post is rather insulting and demeaning. You were lucky, do not take it for granted and assume everyone else was too ignorant to call other sources.

I am being completely serious.

How did you find anything insulting in my post? Are you trying to stir up controversy here? I didn't insult anyone. Demeaning? Okay then. I haven't disrespected anyone here.

I have read some of the thread. Almost all of it is people stating when they signed up and how long they've been waiting. Not very much of people reporting where else they've been calling.

I live in Los Angeles.... you know, the second most populated city in the United States. I'd say the demand for the iP4 is pretty damn high here.

Maybe you've been calling retailers for 3 weeks, but I haven't seen anyone else posting in this thread that they've been doing that. That's why I asked the question.:rolleyes: Have you posted that you've been calling retailers for 3 weeks somewhere in this thread? I must have missed that post.

Was I lucky? Maybe. Probably.

Maybe you're trying too hard..... I barely tried and I found one. (now that's insulting.)

I wish almost everyone in this thread good luck on their hunt.:)
 
Day 14 in the Dallas area. I actually got a "moving up" email the day after I made the reservation... It still has yet to come though.
 
I've called Best Buy, Walmart, and Radio Shack. I say that's good enough hunting. Day 19.. Glendale Galleria. 16 GB
 
HALLELUJAH! I GOT MY EMAIL!!!
after waiting so long I got my confirmation email for 16GB at Garden State Plaza! Ironically, I was reading this thread wondering when mine was going to come in. But its here! I'm so happy! I have reservations in Atlantic City and Willowbrook Mall, so if I get confirmations for those I'd be more than happy to help any of you guys out.

Ironically, the kid at the apple store said AC would come in before GSP, pfft.
