Yeah, imagine that beast in your pocket...lol, no thanks!
Fits in my pocket just fine.

Quality meaning...? There's some things that dont matter, one of them is excessive ppi. Don't fall for the marketing technique.
Every time I pick up an iPhone 4 I think, "wow this screen is way too tiny". When I pick up my iPhone 3G I think "Wow this screen is way too low resolution and tiny"
When I pick up my Droid X I think "This screen is sick". 4"+ is the way to go. I also love how the face of my phone is all screen essentially. It really makes the iPhone look dated in comparison.
Droid X is a fine alternative to the iPhone 4.
However, the battery life on the Droid X is horrible. You will see so many people bicker/complain over the iPhone's battery. Wait and try the Droid X out. You would think your iPhone 4's battery life is amazing.
If you use your Droid X pretty heavily (I am talking 1 talking, 3 hours websurfing, looking at the screen every 20-30 minutes just to check), you Droid X battery will be done by 4-5PM. You iphone 4 battery life will make it till 9-10PM.
I went to the verizon store today to check out the x. Yes the screen is larger but you can't compare the crispness.
Is bigger better?

Which Droid phones do your friends have?
I got the iPhone when it first came out in 2007. I also had the iPhone 3g (or was it 3gs? I forgot). But, as good as the iPhone is, and how much I love Apple and OSX, AT&T is just what kills the iPhone experience.
I've been Verizon for over a year now, and I have a pretty ****** phone, and I plan to upgrade to a Droid X in December/January.
But then, I've been hearing rumors about the CEO of Verizon being part of this meeting on January 5th, before the Keynote, and that during the Keynote, supposedly, the CEO of Verizon is going to speak before Steve Jobs does.
Does this mean that an iPhone could be released on Verizon in January/June of 2011?
Is it worth waiting this long to get an iPhone, or have you guys tried using the Droid X?
I've played with it before, and for what it is, some features that it has, is personally better than the iPhone. But like I said, I love the iPhone, but AT&T is the deal breaker for me.
Perhaps you meant to say ATT kills the Iphone experience for you. I find it interesting that because some people do not have good service with a provider that they assume everyone else has the same issues.
TGIF: Best Buy Mobile® Launches Free Phone Fridays for the Month of October
Each Friday in October Best Buy Mobile will feature four different free phones with two-year activation. The Samsung Fascinate anchors initial lineup on Oct. 1.
MINNEAPOLIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Best Buy Mobile announced today at its Holiday Preview event in New York that it is giving consumers another reason to be thankful for Fridays in October: Free Phone Fridays. Beginning Friday, Oct. 1 and running every Friday in October, Best Buy Mobile will feature four free mobile phones (one from each carrier) in all Best Buy and Best Buy Mobile specialty stores, as well as online at BestBuy.com/Mobile. Each week this new promotion will feature at least one high-end, in-demand smart phone. The free promotion phones require a new two-year activation.
“We are seeing an amazing amount of curiosity and demand for mobile phones right now, especially smart phones, and we want to give consumers another reason to visit Best Buy Mobile in October”
To launch this effort in style, Best Buy is featuring the following phones for free on Friday, Oct. 1:
* Samsung Fascinate (Verizon)
* BlackBerry Curve (Sprint)
* HTC Aria (AT&T)
* Samsung Gravity 3 (T-Mobile)
“We are seeing an amazing amount of curiosity and demand for mobile phones right now, especially smart phones, and we want to give consumers another reason to visit Best Buy Mobile in October,” said Scott Anderson, the head of merchandising for Best Buy Mobile. “While we already offer a number of free mobile phone options for our customers every day of the year, launching ‘Free Phone Fridays’ with a great smart phone like the Samsung Fascinate shows that Best Buy Mobile is serious and committed to bringing the best mobile technology and best deals to our customers.”
The specific weekly deals will be announced in stores and online, including Best Buy Mobile’s Facebook page and Twitter account, at 1 p.m. central time on the Thursday prior to that Friday’s one-day specials. The free phone offer requires new two-year activation and minimum quantities will vary by store. There are no rain checks or price matches and the offer is not valid on prior purchases.
Best Buy Mobile has become a leading destination for smart phones and accessories, in part because of the promises the store offers its customers: better choice of phones and networks; impartial, informed advice; straightforward pricing; and someone to be there for the life of the phone.
In addition, Best Buy Mobile offers an array of services aimed at improving the mobile phone buying experience, including:
* Upgrade Checker: A quick and easy service that gives customers the ability to see when they are eligible for their next phone upgrade. When the upgrade time is nearing, customers receive a complimentary reminder call, e-mail or text message.
* Walk Out Working™: Free in-store smart phone setup by a Best Buy Mobile Phone Specialist who will sync personal email accounts, set up Bluetooth headsets, transfer contacts and activate other services to allow the customer to leave the store with a fully functional new smartphone.
I like the Droid Incredible.
It's light, fast and smooth, and I have no problem finding all the apps I use on iOS, on Android as well... along with some apps that I cannot get on iOS such as Google Navigation.
I like screen widgets very much. Makes screens very useful. You can also set shortcuts to almost anything, including Settings submenus.
I like the way the Android browser reflows text as you zoom in.
I appreciate having a Back key and user flow context. Nothing worse on iOS than having one app open another app, but you cannot get back easily without using the Home key and restarting the first app. It's silly and painful.
I _love_ the highly accurate universal voice input. I rarely type anything any more, preferring instead to softly speak the text. Great for answering IMs. And all throughout the day, I just hit the Search key and ask it questions. Or I use Edwin, a voice in/out app that understands many types of questions. So my phone has become a helpful voice activated companion instead of just a dumb tool.
Flash is handier than I thought it would be, especially with restaurants. Or as with my example the other day, I just pressed Search, spoke "Amazing Race" into the phone, tapped the Video link on the results that came up, was soon watching the latest episode.
One of my favorite things about Android is that you can replace common "Finders" on the fly (they're called Intents in Android speak). Need a better browser as the default? No prob. Need a better photo file picker? Same. Contact picker, MMS agent, whatever. And you can switch back.
My advice to any new Android user:
1) Get an internal extended battery (true for any smartphone).
2) Use www.appbrain.com and its app instead of the standard market.

+1.
I have an iPhone 4, gf has a Droid X. I'd take my phone any day over hers, so I'm a bit biased.
The screen feels _huge_ compared to the iPhone, but it doesn't have that level of crispness.
My biggest beefs with the X are all software-related. It doesn't feel as smooth as iOS (even after 2.2). Things feel a lot more unorganized on Android. OTOH, there are a lot of Android apps that can do "more" than iOS, thanks to better access to hardware, etc.
I think instead of iPhone vs Droid X, you should be comparing Android vs iOS or AT&T vs Verizon. Otherwise, you're kind of comparing apples and oranges. Once you make those decisions, the choice will be clear.
Jeez for someone who loves their Android so much, you spend an awful lot of time on an Apple forum.![]()

I'm an adult, which means that I am able to love more than one thing at a time, whether it's multiple places, children, jobs, foods, cars or even (gasp) phones.
Cheers![]()
So you think that we should only be allowed to use products from one company at a time? Does this mean that I have to get rid of my Macs because I have an EVO?
I just find it strange that you seem to like to bring up the superiority and your infinite like of all things Android in an Apple iPhone forum.
go droid x. you won't be dissapointed.
