Uglyness at 10x the size. The content of every single photo looks like *****. Logos and useless text plastered all over the device, Pixelated graphics, horrible colors and convoluted UI...thanks for making a point why the OP should get an iPhone.

whats awesome about android is that its just one device out of many. android comes in many shapes and sizes, which is great, as the consumer has CHOICE.

iPhone, great phone, but I don't want to wait on Uncle Steve for new releases. Whats awesome is that companies like Motorola and HTC are competing with EACH OTHER on who makes the best android handset phone.

I think a lot of iPhone owners since '07 release are a bit over the grid icons / UI thats within iOS (me included, iPhone 1st gen owner)

In all honesty, your remarks are that of one that is just unfamiliar with another mobile OS. Some advice, lets not be too obsessed with one OS over another, its always good to diversify.

FYI: I bought a phone for good voice quality, excellent coverage, and functionality, aesthetics being last. Guess I chose a phone with functionality over aesthetics. Just sayin..

Android needs some polish before i make the change over to them. I dont know what it is about it but it just seems really cheap looking(the OS), maybe im just used to square icons on the iphone now, not sure.

Anyway, the one thing i dread about switching to android is the fact every 2 months i will literally be drooling over another new phone that has come out.

I feel like I would go through Android phones pretty fast, where the iPhones feels really well put together. My 2 best friends have the original droids and the color is wore off pretty bad. My 2 year old 3G still looks mint.

You can basically make it look like whatever you want. I tend to use the square grid of icons and a dock with some widgets (Weather, WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS etc) on the outer homescreens.

As for the second part, to me, you are essentially saying you would rather be locked into a design that Steve gives you every year than having more options ie. Android/WP7.

I have my disliked about Android, but overall Im happier on Verizon/Android than I was on AT&T/iPhone. Also for a last bit of info, I have had way more people make comments like "What phone is that?" or "Is that the Droid X?" than I ever got with an iPhone 3G when it came out and I had it. This year at school Im also seeing tons of Android phones. Just about on par with iPhone's I would say.

Depends in how you look at it. if you change phones alot on android system theres ETF to worry about ( android phones except maybe nexus dont hold value like an iphone), and you have to cross fingers when you might get the uber update.

With iphone, all are in the same build of the latest patch and no one to be jealous that this phone has this build where the other does not.

Android does have alot of pluses but a the way they update really worries me.

The main reason people keep asking you about your phone is probably because its not very popular or because there are soo many android phones out there that people dont know which is which.
The iphone is an extremely popular phone and most people know about it and even know how it looks so it does not make any sense for them to ask you about it. That would just make them look like they have been living under a rock for the past 5-6 years.

I got the iPhone when the 3G came out. AKA 1 year'ish...

Also the comments are always positive about my Droid X. Closest to negative I ever hear is "Does it fit in your pocket?" "Yea... I carried around my 3G for two years which was bulkier. The Droid X is just a bit taller."

Why you mad though? Try not to always get so defensive btw... It makes you look inferior.

4 years. iPhone came out in '07. Ahhh, now that was a revolutionary phone at the time.

My bad!

Im not really mad. The iphone 4 is my first iphone and I absolutely love it but I am not a fanboy in any way. I came from a blackberry so both the iphone and the droid are much better in regards to apps and user interface. The main reason I have an iphone is because I have at&t. if i had verizon i would probably have a droid of some kind.

The iPhone feels better built (glass and metal vs plastic) and the UI is MUCH smoother, I still get shivers when it comes to android lag. Flash isn't all its hyped up to be, on my friends droid X I tried to play a game and it took over a minute to load, then I couldn't even park my freakin truck because it didn't recognize the keyboard. Other notable features of the iPhone include: better camera and video, better resale value, better apps, front camera (which actually comes in handy a lot) 3rd party support, itunes/mobile me support, battery life, etc

Till you drop it and it shatters.....lol

So, you're saying to NOT get an iPhone because it might break when you drop it? Is that an exclusive problem to the iPhone? Your comment makes no sense. If you are a klutz, then I suggest you get a rubberized walkie-talkie... or 2 cans and some string.

Im saying the iP4 is a china doll compared to the other iPhones previous.

The dude i responded too said the iPhone had a better build which i think is not true if your talking the iP4. Ive never broken one of my phones by dropping them. I have dropped them before but never had one break which includes my iPhone 2G that i used to two years and my Vibrant that i have now.

Of course i never had to worry about any phones previous to my iPhone. They werent anything near the same and didnt have a big front glass face.

A rolex is more fragile than a timex, which one is better made?

Dont know. I dont wear a watch so i have no idea how a Rolex can be more fragile than a Timex. Not sure im even going to buy that.

You don't know how a rubberized digital watch with a plastic face can be more durable than a mechanical watch with like 100+ moving parts and a glass or sapphire face?

Also, you do know that gold is a very soft metal, scratches really easy.

Same concept as leather seats vs cloth ones in cars. Leather dries out and scratches and cracks and whatnot, but most people still think leather is the nicer of two options.

 Dude, not all Timex watches are digital and made of rubber. And not all Rolex's are made of Gold. Even i know that.

Your point is a FAIL!

looks like your point is the FAIL!

Yet im the one that knows not all Timex's are digital and made of rubber....LOL.
Just because i dont wear one doesnt mean i dont have any idea there are different styles. Hell i even know not all Rolexs are made of gold.
I also think Tag Heuer watches are the ugliest overpriced things ive ever seen. Sure, ive looked. Just dont like to wear one.

Yep, I FAILED!

How is my point a fail?

My point is there are plenty of things that are extremely well made that are more fragile than cheaper lower quality products.

A good example is a dog clutch transmission like used in a race car compared to a syncromesh transmission like used in my subaru. The dog clutch racing transmission is SUBSTANTIALLY better made than my transmission, but if I tried to use the racing transmission I'd destroy it because it requires skill to use it without damaging it as it is more sensitive.

In general increased persistent and built quality will make something more fragile and sensitive to issues as the more precise something is, the lower it's tolerances are.

This is where even a mechanical timex is more durable than a rolex. because rolexs have substantially more complicated, elaborate and PRECISE parts. So you drop both watches, a gear moves a little bit in both, on the timex, the part is still within tolerance (less precise more tolerance) the rolex is outside of tollerance and jams, and what do you know, broken watch.

Oh, and so you know timex doesn't make a true mechanical watch this was all just for the sake of argument. Most cheaper analog watches you see in stores are actually digital watches that use a motor to turn the dials on the face. That's how they are able to run using batteries.

Regardless, your argument is the one that is a failure. Asking for a phone to be drop proof is like asking for a car that is crash proof. You can't get mad at an automaker if you crash your car and it get's messed up because... you still are the one who crashed the car.

Only on Macrumors do you see a ton of people recommending against Apple.

I myself hate droids. IMO they are sluggish and not the most navigational friendly and the Droid X is not pocket friendly and feels like I'm carrying a malnourished iPad around. (Meaning its lighter and smaller but still feels big).

To answer the OPs original questions which seem as if they are unanswered (at least after reading most of the first page).

Rumors have it that Apple has had a bunch of CDMA processors (CDMA is Verizon and Sprints network) created. This could mean CDMA iPhone.

There is also a CDMA testing center on Apples campus. If they weren't making a product with CDMA its highly unlikely they would have a CDMA testing center since I'm sure that center isn't cheap.

ATTs exclusivity is rumored to run out really soon. No one knows if it has or not or when it does, its just a rumor.

I own a DroidX - and before that the original Droid. I switched to it from the iPhone 3G. (AT&T sucked in Atlanta at the time for 3G and was really bad at the cities I was traveling to for work - NYC, Boston, etc)

I also just got an iPhone 4 for a work phone (company gave us the option to switch off our Blackberry).

They both have their benefits, but to me overall the open feel of the Android OS trumps a lot. If Apple would open things up a bit and let people do simple things like replace their keyboard with a swype keyboard for instance - I think Apple would be the better device hands down. Honestly the smoothness of the UI and the ease of initial setup is better than Android, but once you get into using the phone the Android beats Apple hands down because of the flexibility.

The IP4 is a great phone though - I'm enjoying it, although I think a little larger screen would be nice. (Maybe a 4" like the Galaxy S)

The network however - as long as you live domestically and don't travel outside of the US Verizon crushes AT&T network wise. I'm in a different city every week for work and have both an AT&T phone and a Verizon phone and overall in the majority of areas i get better service with Verizon.
