However, back on topic, I want a 64GB. After checking how much media I have exactly, it comes out to 60.3GB. I can leave out the videos, since I've seen them all already. That'll shave it down to 39.5GB.

Have you not already listened to your music as well?

Also, I don't consider a move to an A5 a small spec 'bump', it is still a significant upgrade. An increase in screen size would also be unneccessary (for me), so am perfectly happy with much better specs in the iphone four case

oh great so we can do more stuff faster on that little screen wow the newest iphone with a screen size from 4 years ago ???? NO WAY

this will get completely owned by Nexus Prime with 4.5in SAMOLED HD screen.

I would love to know the stats on screen size as virtually everyone I know says the iPhone has as big a screen/body as they would want.

If, as it looks likely there is no major redesign it will be interesting to see if the whole antenna thing rears its head again. I thought they would have had a major redesign to separate it in peoples minds.

Let me tell you something about the external antenna -
I used a iphone3g all over my house for years w/no problems.
Got a iphone4, and it was "failed call" 8 times a flippin day!
Unbelievable, same customers and friends, called from the same places in my home, and the reception sucked bad, I just couldn't believe it.
Loved the phone, was super fast, had it jailbroken 30 minutes after I got it home, but even with a "micro cell" installed, the reception sucked so bad, I was forced to bring it back.
Now here I sit with my 3g again, perfect reception, but old and slow.
I'll be pissed if I'm forced to sign a 2yr for a 4s, (only to have a newly designed 5 come out in the spring).

Have you not already listened to your music as well?

More like wanting to listen to whatever you want, whenever you want, without the need to add or remove tracks.

Synching gets old; and I'm pretty sure other than charging the phone with my laptop, synching music, and backing up once in a while, I won't be plugging it in.

Here's to hoping for wireless synching.

We're still talking about a phone, right? Like the thing people tend to put in small pockets? Yeah, that definitely needs to be much bigger than it already is.

there is no iphone 5

then there will be no iphone purchase by me.. this is the same as going from ipad 1 to ipad 2 .. makes alot of profit for apple but is a small benefit to the consumer who has an iphone 4 better fro those wit 3g and 3gs phones though..

there will be a jailbreak to bring all the 4s features to the for so there is no reason at all to spend another 300 at this point

Although I've accepted an iPhone 4S, and will be upgrading to it. I still believe that Apple messed up this time, and they probably won't be able to make the huge targeted sales. I really see no point in current iPhone 4 owners upgrading to this model.

Regarding the "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" idea, the iPhone 4 design is very much broke. This is Apple showing how arrogant it is. And the iPhone 5 case leaks we've been seeing, might actually be the 2012 Prototype.

I don't know guys. IMHO, if a redesigned iPhone 5 doesn't appear at the conference tomorrow, I would consider that a blow to Apple's stellar reputation over the past numerous years under Steve Jobs.

Here are some of my reasons:

1) The iPhone has already been delayed by several months...putting out a 4S skin with a some better components has me worried, both as an AAPL investor and consumer, that Apple maybe losing its competitive advantage.

2) The new CEO needs to come out with the "shock and awe" to the audience and web viewers. If they truely can deliver a redesigned iPhone 5 under everyone's snooping noses, then you better believe people all over the world will flock to their product. That's one of the great selling points with Apple. They are so secretitive with their products. As a consumer, it's a love/hate relationship. I love the buildup, the guessing games. However, I also want to know what the hell it's going to be.

Like I said, just my two cents. I'm buying a new iPhone regardless of what it's called and what it looks like. I just can't imagine they would throw a new CEO up on stage for the entire world to see, and only deliver a rehashed iPhone 4 with some upgrades. I believe his repuation would suffer (at least for awhile).

Agree with the above. For me, the size needs to stay the same. The resolution bump to the retina screen was awesome. I wouldn't want a huge screen. Some would, but I think most wouldn't.

It's getting closer!!

I'm 90% sold on the concept of there being a beefed up iPhone "4S" that uses the same external components, etc.

The only thing I've read in this thread so far that is insightful is that perhaps Apple is bluffing by calling it the 4S....misdirecting expectations and intentionally using a product codename to hide a potential redesign.

I work for a company that has done exactly that, code-named a new software product as a revision of a previous version, then bust out with a completely redesigned product to blow away low expectations.

That may be the case here, but doubtful. I really think we would have seen part leaks by now....

If that's true, original iPhone 4 buyers will have made a solid purchase with their phone sporting the latest design for at least two years, it's already been 15 months since it was released.

However those of us that have purchased the iPhone 3GS and held out on the iPhone 4 for the refreshed iPhone 5 are now on the unfortunate 'S' cycle upgrade.

I really hope that Apple pulls a rabbit out of the hat with an all-new iPhone, as I can't imagine too many people like me with a 3GS waiting to upgrade will want to get a new phone that looks like one that came out over a year ago.

I don't understand why Apple is marketing their 5th gen iphone as the "iPhone 4s" not the "iPhone 5"

for all the people saying: whats wrong with the current iphone 4 design.... nothing, but many people wont apple to continue to innovate to make the phone smaller and thinner

There will be an iPhone 5.

After SJ leaving the CEO position and everything that went before when he left Apple, the Market and the analysts are watching.

If they underwhelm tomorrow - which a revamped 4 would pretty much do, all the talk of iOS5 will not stop APP stocks crumbling.

Despite what many here think and the justifiable talk of little need for a redesign, the millions who have made the iPhone such a success do not spend their days here or on any other rumour sites.

The iPhone is a success because it is cool. Being cool has meant it has ended up in the hands of the masses and the knock on has seen better Mac sales.

If the ball is dropped Apple can just as easily slide down the slope again...

No iPhone 5 and the slide will begin. APP could see a $20 hit before the end of the week, and that will only be the start.

There will be an iPhone 5 because there has to be.

the other "profound inprovments" will be reduction in production costs that mean more profit for apple per unit sold.

when verizon got the 4 i knew this would happen.. the iphone 4 look would stay another year to give apple massive profits through reduced production costs..lololol typical capitalism BS

This is the down side of apple having no real competition at all they can just move at their own pace and not worry about innovation too much.

But they are not solely aiming at us geeks who upgrade every 12 months. The majority of contracts are 18-24 months now. Most people I know with a 4 are about midway (or just over) through their contract and don't really care what the next iPhone is like as they won't be buying it.

If phone contracts were 12 months at a time as standard I could understand all the moaning.

Guys, I know what some of you are saying about how Apple needs to bust out with the "shock and awe" at this keynote. But what makes you think that one of the new features we've already heard about -- most notably Assistant -- isn't what Apple considers "shock and awe"? They could be planning to use Assistant as the big differentiator between the 4 and the 4S, presuming that only the 4S will be capable of running it.

To win market share back from Android, all Apple have to do is make it cheaper to buy/subsidise than the iPhone 4. That is all they have to do!

I personally think the 4s will have an upgraded camera, a few internal changes and that's it. If there is a bigger screen then that would be a bonus but I think the major redesign will wait until the iPhone 5 (which could be released tomorrow too, it can't be ruled out.). I'd expect the iPhone 5 to be thinner with a larger screen with an 8mp camera.

Secondly it seems like people care more about new body style then a better iPhone.

Yea because thickness of a phone is a major factor!!!

also their are many people not liking the iPhone 4 design because it is blocky not curved. I am not one of them though,

I know that it's nothing to do with them and it has been us expecting a change after 16 months!

But seriously, is there a bomb shelter Tim Cook can run to when/after they've announced this.

P.S. Can you imagine the world media Q's to the Apple PR team at the after party... Kevlar body armor all round everybody! ha haaaaaaaaaaaa!

yup apple thinks all this gimmicky software cloud BS will distract us from the fact we are being fleeced with this iphone4 s or plus BS??

99% of this presentation will be software based..:(:(
