We need a phone that can do really shallow depth of field.

Depends what phone you're comparing to the iPhone 4 or 4S. Compare the Galaxy S2 screen with the 4S. Then come back to me.

On both the 4 & 4S .... Detail and clarity is obviously more HD like. The Galaxy S2 seems to focus more on color contrast. Also words and small images appear clear & readable in detail on the 4 & 4S. On the Galaxy you have to zoom in sometimes.

This is from seeing them in person, not on any internet vid.

You were saying?
super-amoled-plus.jpg

iPS with retina is far superior than Amoled HD, nfc is too new, capacitive buttons are just waste of space, sd card slot is waste of space (not practical). SG2 is half the gpu of 4s!! 4s is faster too!!

Guess, you don't read macrumors daily!! There was posting showing the benchmarks for both gs2 and 4s. gingerbread is a minor update as oppose to froyo. Notifications alone is not the summation of an os.

Here is the link to the benchmarks comparison.

http://www.anandtech.com/Show/Index...rks-800mhz-a5-slightly-slower-gpu-than-ipad-2

And a benchmark shows what exactly? Please explain to us what that means because from my view, a benchmark dont mean a thing. Watch the two video comparisons because it seems to me that the GS2 beat the ip4s in nearly everything....and the GS2 has been out about 6 months already so i dont really care about a benchmark. I care about results.

So again.....while the next OS is on its way out in a couple of months from Android, Apple will have another one out in a year from now when there very possibly could be yet another OS from Android during that year leaving Apple in big time catchup mode. ...well you know, worse than they are already.

GS2 already has 1 GB of RAM while the IP4S has 512 MB and the screen has better colors than the retina display. I dont know what you are really arguing here.

You should be comparing IPS to SuperAMOLED not the retina display which is really just a marketing term for a really high PPI display. You can have a SuperAMOLED display with the pixel density of the iPhone 4.

Image

Retina Display isn't new technology. It's not innovating. SuperAMOLED is.
That image looks pretty fake. I can literally tilt my 4S sideways and still see it as clearly as before. That looks like what you'd see on an iPod touch 4 which has no IPS display.

So, you prefer an opinion rather than some objective test??

*sigh* face meet palm... palm meet face...

Seems to be a 3g/3gs...

No i believe the results i see when compared side by side which was also a objective test that was conducted right here on page 1 https://forums.macrumors.com/posts/13642811/

Can you even explain to us what a benchmark is? I dont think you can.

Ill try and help you out. Benchmarks Print it out and take it to class tomorrow and share it. Pay close attention to the last paragraph(last thoughts) which discribes,.... you.

It's from gsmarena, so idk.

He's not biased. He just didn't know that there was an option to enable mail notification. That doesn't mean he's biased. He even commented saying that he was sorry and that it does have email support. I have no idea why it's off by default though. As for the texting part, I don't know. He probably didn't know that he could text in one step. Does that make him bias? No.

I agree with your second statement though. But then again, Android got it right. :S

So the reviewer is not biased just dumb and incompetent? That really does not improve the usefulness of the "review".

----------

Funny how it works with Android and Not with Siri, he must be biased right? What's that moto that apple has? "It just works"... things are changing.

If you understood how the two technologies work it would not be that funny. I could tell Siri 5000 things that that the Samsung phone would not understand. What is your point? Siri actually parses language. If you say something that doesn't make sense you will not get the effect you want. The Samsung just parses for a few keywords, so it doesn't matter what else you say with it.

I work in the business, I know quality from crap. The reviews posted thus far are from amateurs. My impression thus far is that the 4S has extremely high quality from a camera phone and the competitors cannot compete. If you want a real review of image quality, wait for dpreview to do a comparison, not some guy who reviews downscaled videos re-compressed for youtube.

If anyone wants to send me a full-res video from the "Samsung Galaxy S2 touch pro slide" or whatever they are calling that abomination of a phone these days, I'll take a look at it.

Are you saying the guy who does camera reviews for PC WORLD Website is not a professional photographer?

:eek::eek::eek::cool:

----------

With what evidence do you present? How is iOS better than Gingerbread? GB had notificatons before it. Seriously, back up your crap before you say something stupid.

If that is your criteria, besides notifications iOS had EVERYTHING else first.

Guess iOS wins.

Android Firsts: Notifications.

iOS Firsts: Everything on smartphones except Notifications.

----------

Yeah, you would say that. The iPhone home button is a waste of space. Again, you can't PROVE that. How is retina superior when you haven't even seen SUPER AMOLED HD.

Pixel density is greater.

How come no Android phone in 18 months has managed to come up with a more detailed screen? Instead they just come up with worse bigger screens.

I remember using SBSettings long before gingerbread came out... I used sbsettings on my first iphone way back in early 2009... And the same guy was been hired by Apple to crete notifications in ios5... So again isn't Android the copycat here..?

For now, iPhone has the best PPI, but soon LG will release LU6200 which has a 342 PPI and HTC will release Vigor with a 342 PPI.

It makes both Android and Apple a copycat.

True but just trying to point out to the Fandroids who think Notifications is an Android INNOVATION...

And Apple, atleast according to me, went a step better... They Hired the one who created it... And I am sure pay him a bomb... So you can't really say they "copied"... :p

It is a 3GS. Filename of that image: "super-amoled-apple-iphone-3gs.jpeg"

Here's an accurate Super AMOLED vs. Super AMOLED Plus vs. Retina (IPS) comparison.

Apple only hired the guy who created JailBreakMe. Not SBSettings.

Is that so...? I am sure I read somewhere they hired the sbsettings dude... They were on a hacking community hiring spree a year back... I think they hired 3-4 atleast...
