I just want to know what the 4s defenders think they are achieving or getting by defending the let down (and let's not kid ourselves, although a few may be content with the 4s, the general public has been let down).

Especially by bashing people that are voicing their disappointment, which is arguably warranted.

We should always be pushing these companies.

this clown... and whats worse is that i bet someone will buy it........

And what might be the great upgrade to buy with iPhone 5?
Just a body? with 4S internals?... I'd want something mind blowing
By Feb/March

im with you... ipad to ipad 2 for me was mind blowing... quicker... and it felt different... the iphone 4 is perfect fine... i like the glass etc... but it would be nice if it had the same ipad 2 design..... came with 32gb min.... thats my perfect iphone...

Yep.

Siri has been pulled from the app store and will no longer work for anyone who has it from October 16th.

Yep. Works fine on my iPhone4 but got a notice today about how "Siri was going home" and would be available soon on the new iPhone 4S.

I don't much care for companies that produce artificial obsolecence like that but
I've been buying Apple product for years and am familiar with it.

Oh well.

I'm baffled by all your comments about how Apple is lagging behind...
How is it so?

LTE?
I'm really sure this service won't be up 100% until 2012... nationally and globally. I know it's being deployed. I know some area has it already, but I"m talking about full 100% coverage, like 3G.

Bigger screen?
If you want a bigger screen, go buy an iPad. iPhone 4 is PERFECT for one hand.
I used my friend's samsung galaxy S II, and HTC Sensation.
I can't use it one hand. It's difficult. I don't represent everyone, but my hand size is "average".

iOS integration
No other OS integrates EVERYTHING, from iCloud to syncing to buying apps THAT SMOOTHLY.
Not even Android.
Sure, iOS has features now that Android has a long time ago. But so what. Make something complicated, it's frustrating to use. Make something the same like Android, but make it simple, it's super easy to use.
(But though I have to admit, the swipe pull down thing is easy enough)

Let the flame begins.
But I'm sure this phone will sell well.

Windows Phone 7 Mango achieves quite a bit of integration on their own. From social networking, unified inbox, Zune Pass, SkyDrive and many other features.

No turn-by-turn NAV, no offline maps? WTF!!!

I bought my 3G mid-cycle and passed on the 4G. That was a huge mistake! The damn 3G is getting slower and slower, I swear (why I could draw a map faster than does my iPhone!), so I have no choice but to get the 4S (not willing to experiment with Android or W7P), probably only to see a totally awesome iPhone 5 released next June. Figures

Of course it will sell well. At the end of the year the top smartphones of 2011 will be iPhone 4s, iPhone 4 and iPhone 3gs. The top tablet will be the iPad. I can't imagine anyone here is dumb enough to think this wouldn't be the case. Oh and LOL at the people saying the Kindle Fire will compete...

In the service itself, which is still third-generation while there are a number of 4G Android phones.

Yeah I want a 4G phone so I can use it on the 3G networks. You realize 4G/LTE Has only been put out to a few major cities by carriers and even then it is pretty dam expensive to which the average user is deff not going to pay.

Not to mention 4G chips are big and battery hogs right now.

The 4S is up to par with all phones today. It even one upped android with the assistant, something very far ahead of the game. It will be interesting to see if anyone tries to compete with it.

Well the Fire will be number 2 and the only other tablet on the radar.

not saying nothing changed. I know what changed. But those changes were not what the people wanted. They weren't the most important changes given the times (e.g. 4G).

A lot changed in iOS. A lot of changes are catching up with what Android has had for a while. Will iOS be better implementing those features (e.g. notification pull down, voice control, etc.)? Possibly. Apple usually integrates things better. Anything revolutionary going on? Not really.

Camera sounds great. I love it. Does that make me excited about this iphone? Nope.

Now maybe if you tried harder to understand the reason for my post: motivate Apple to do more because I want to see them succeed.

And just what qualifications do you have that would make your opinion better than the people who have created the most successful company in the world? I really think current history shows the people running Apple know what they are doing.

You realize that Verizon LTE already covers 50% of population in U.S.? ANd in a few months (way before iPhone 5 is out) this number will be close to 100%.

Well said, wide phones aren't for me for sure.

Also, I'll add Androids UI sucks, slow, choppy not smooth like the iPhone.

The fast powerful Galaxy SII may be super spec'd and powerful ... it does not add benefit to the user experience at all ... still slow and choppy... battery life sucks too, as does the lower res screen...

People go from the iPhone to Android and end up back with the iPhone .... people don't leave Android for the iPhone and then go back to Android ... there's a reason.

"They've gone to plaid!"

I think they shouldn't stop working on these technologies until it becomes Star-Trek like. Instead of holding in the home button I'd like to be able to say, "Siri" and my phone say, "Yes" or beep or something.

I'm sure you realize the original Star Trek TV series communicator is the inspiration for the modern cell phone, thus your reference, but look at how long it took to evolve from imagination to reality.

For you to simply beckon your iPhone it would have to constantly be listening for ambient noise...talk about a battery drainer; and intrusive, annoying when it's trying to do something when you're in a crowded area, etc. I see what you're saying, I just don't see the point. How lazy of a society do we really want to become? Would me having to press a button to talk to my phone really make me more productive? Doubtful. Safety while in the car? I'd buy that argument. Maybe put the Siri button on the unlock page, or hold the home button, like the current voice control. Link that through the vehicle's bluetooth voice controls and you've got a Microsoft Sync killer.

patience grasshopper...

I just want reassurance that I can preorder it without contract pricing at 12:01 am on friday...

Don't worry, rest assured, Apple will gladly sell you a pricey unlocked iPhone 4S, with the only question remaining that actually depends on you: 16GB, 32GB or 64GB? :)
