Yes, it's an option in the Siri settings, which can be found under "Settings / General". You can turn it off or on. It's on by default.

So now out of the three English speaking ones, which of them sound the best/most human?

Also, can Siri open apps? Or is that just wishful thinking?

Didn't take long for VZW's account website to update!

Hadn't really compared them yet - trying not to be too loud here at work.

I did try asking Siri to "Open YouTube". She said:

"I can't open that for you. My apologies."

However, I did say "Send Bob a text message" and got the response "What do you want to send to Bob?" And a text message prompt opened.

props to you OP. About opening an app, this must be integrated to the application itself to be Siri compatible and I'm assuming same goes to apple server AI side. We'll see more apps Siri compatible soon I hope.

Wow, I'm proven wrong! Just checked - the UK is a male voice with a British accent.

Australian - woman. I said "Testing", and she said "I...Can...Hear...You"

French - male. I said "Oui", he said "Oui...quoi?" Which means "Yes...what?"

German - female. I said "Bier". She said "Entschuldigung, ich sehe keinen Kontakt mit dem Namen Bier". Which means "Sorry, I do not see any contact with the beer name."

Does it matter if you use the UK version vs. the American one? Like does it not understand you as well, or is there any negative effect to using it?

Not sure. Probably not much different than a Spaniard using American English - there are going to be misunderstandings.

The following qualifications must be met for the SIM (Subscriber Identity Module) to be unlocked:

Must be a Verizon Wireless customer.

•The device being unlocked must be active on a Verizon Wireless line of service.
•The line of service must be active at least 60 days.
•The line of service must be in good standing for the past 60 days.
•Only one SIM Unlock per line every 10 months.
•The customer's manufacturer's device warranty is not affected by a SIM unlock as long as the customer remains with Verizon Wireless.

"Only one SIM Unlock per line every 10 months"

What does the above mean? Does the SIM unlock only last for a certain amount of time?

I had the same experience on Verizon. Three cheers for both, I guess!
Yes, I have Verizon for my Droid X 2 and they do a very good job.

I've had very good service from both Verizon and AT&T.

Fortunately in my area, they both have very good coverage.

Actually better. I had some minor problems getting signal here at work with my iP4, but every time I've looked at the new iP4S today, it's been solid.

Thanks for the quick response. That sounds as though the new antenna system may working as advertised. Good news!

How about network speed? Download Speed Test on that badboy and let 'er rip a few times.

That just means that you can only get one actual device unlocked per phone number every 10 months; this is likely to prevent someone from temporarily activating a bunch of iPhones on one line, getting them unlocked, and then selling them on eBay or something.

Once you do the SIM unlock, it's permanent, even after a factory reset.

Ask and you shall receive.

Speedtest.net:

PING: 29 ms

Download: 7.68 Mbps

Upload: 8.76 Mbps

FYI, this was on Wi-Fi...I should do a 3G test, too...

Heading home now so won't have many responses until later tonight...

What about for me? I'm going in to have them set it up on a new line so that I get it cheaper, then I'm transferring it over to the line I actually want it on. Can they even do that at an Apple Store?

From what I have read, I don't think the Apple Store can do that. You will walk out with the new phone activated on the line you ordered it on. If you want to swap SIMS with another phone later, you will need to call AT&T to do that.

Huh?

Didn't they say at the keynote that upload speed maxes out at 5.76mbps? Or is that only for 3g?

On VZW 3G:

Ping: 99 ms

Download: 0.21 Mbps

Upload: 0.02 Mbps

Not too good, but signal is notoriously bad for everyone in this building. Will do one from home with all 5 bars later.

I think that means if you're on an account with lets say your mom and dad. You unlock your phone, and your dad has to wait 10 months before he can request to have his phone unlocked.
