iPhone 4S and iPhone 5 or iPhone 4S solo?

Wait, wasn't the image is of a prototype iPhone 4 with 64GB storage that surfaced in Hong Kong?

You don't need a 64GB iPhone to do that with iOS 5 you can get iTunes Match.

I really hope there is an 64BG iPhone I have the 32GB and only have about 500mb left.

Too many pictures, videos and apps.

The problem for me is i live in NZ and we have very crappy data plans they are shocking :(

----------

32 GB is enough space!!! We need more RAM!!! and More Cores!

Hopefully thats what the iPhone 5 will have. It should have at least 1GB of ram and dual core. I really do hope they release 2 iPhones it will really encourage more people to buy them and not stupid android phones :)

So many conflicting rumors. It's like dating a psychizophrenic...

Just maybe as a differentiator - if the two phone rumors are true...

Does the A5 Chip have to be dual core ? Could there feasibly be a single core A5 in the iPhone 4S and a dual core A5 in the iPhone 5?

So possibly....

iPhone 4S

Single Core A5 1.2ghz
512mb Ram
SGX543 (single core)

8-16-32GB version (though most likely just 8 or 16 GB)

iPhone 5

Dual Core A5 1-1.2ghz
1Gb Ram
SGX543M2 (dual core version)

16-32-64GB version

You don't really believe three flavors in both the iP4S and iP5, that's six models. And what about the good old 4? Is destine for the scrap heap?

It would be a real departure from the other releases to drop the existing phone from the line up.

How will they then set the price points?

It is usual for the current model to replace the old at the it's price, and the new model to take the current model's standing.

This finally sounds coherent and pretty realistic. They can market that every phone you buy is 'this year's model'.

Internal changes are major! A5 chip is more robust than the best android phone out so far.

True that – I'd take a 3GS over a 3G any day (which I did). In fact, the major speed bump made me very content with the upgrade.

Guys, some people will never get it. They want, need a case redesign. In their minds, a phone isn't upgraded until it looks different. I'll just quote a post I did in another thread :

I keep hoping they will 3GS us. Seriously, after the disappointing iPhone 3G upgrade (a case and a 3G chip ? That's it ? Oh wait no, reduced battery life. Wow...), the 3GS was a breath of fresh air. It got a new SoC architecture, much upgraded GPU/CPU (both of these still live on in the iPhone 4. The A4 is the same SoC as the 3GS only Apple branded and a bit higher clocked), a video camera, voice control, a compass and better battery life.

The 3GS got iOS 3, iOS 4 and is now getting a full featured release of iOS 5
The 3G got iOS 2, iOS 3 and a crippled version of iOS 4 that didn't even have a single of the flagship features.

So seriously, again, why do so many people feel the 3GS was a negative upgrade ? It was a much bigger upgrade than the original to the 3G. A case doesn't make the phone, the iPhone 3G showed us that, why do some of you refuse to learn from history ?

I again welcome an iPhone 4 look-alike that will be much upgraded and called the iPhone 5.

Don't mind the down-ranking so much, some people just will never understand what the 3GS was and don't quite remember what the 3G brought either. ;)

iPhone 5. There is no, has never been nor will there ever something as ridicule as an iPhone 4S. That breaks the naming scheme. It will be a new phone that looks just like the iPhone 4, but it will still be called 5.

If you believe there will be a iP4S then yes, it only makes sense that the iPhone 4 will disappear. If Apple releases the iP4S and iP5, then the iP4S will exist to maintain a budget phone on the market so the spec bump over an iPhone 4 will likely be fairly low in order to keep costs down. The iPhone 5 then fills in the upper tier. Even if there was only one or two versions of each model, would Apple really want the 4, 4S and 5 all existing at once?

Either there is a 4S in which case the 4 will be pretty much redundant, or there is only one new phone and it'll be called the iPhone 5 and the 4 will remain to fill the lower end sales.

Personally if they go with the 4S I think it might just be an 8GB version of the iPhone 4 with nothing much else changed besides anything else they can cut to keep costs low. I'm unsure if I buy the rumours of spec bumps, Apple only really has the A5 over the A4 and as soon as the low end model gets that you've already lost probably the biggest differentiator between models. I think there will be a A4 and A5 model on the market whatever the name of the cheaper one may be.

OK - I know there is merit to the iCloud making 8GB acceptable argument, but over in the UK there is no iCloud release date as yet and there are also quite a few people who like lossless music for quality - iCloud is no good for that but 64GB would be a real blessing......

I don't get this idea. In my opinion, iCloud is definitely not meant to be streaming cloud service, it's all about syncing content between various devices. How is it going to remove the need for local capacity? You need to save the stuff from iCloud locally before using it.

THIS! iCloud is not intended to 'increase' the storage of your iPhone as some are saying, it is primarily for backing up and transferring content between devices. You can't store and use apps from the cloud, or watch movies stored in the cloud for instance. (And I fear these features will never be a reality until data plans improve)

I think there is significant demand for a bigger capacity iPhone and I certainly hope we will see one. As a sound engineer I store basically all of my music in Apple Lossless format (AAC or MP3 files sound pretty horrible over any decent PA) and I also have hundreds of podcasts and apps. If there is a 64GB option I will definitely choose it, I almost bought an iPad for the bigger storage but decided to hold out for this year's iPhone in hope that there would be a 64GB version finally offered.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; CPU iPhone OS 5_0 like Mac OS X) AppleWebKit/534.46 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.1 Mobile/9A5313e Safari/7534.48.3)

The iPhone4 with 64gb was released to apple employees and special interest people, like AT&T / Verizon executives...

Really.

I'm at about 600 gigs in MP3s @ 320k

I need a 1tb storage solution for my car. Haven't found a good one yet

I just think there is no good solution to picking songs from any decent sized library while in the car.

Dont think this is legit the bottom left corner of the iPhone looks to jagged against his hand I say FAKE!!

So if the iPhone 5 has a teardrop design (or just a design thats different from the iPhone 4) but also only has the rumored upgrades of a 4S, would that make things better?

I think people just assume a new redesign means (insert random rumor here: 4G/LTE, larger screen, etc.) when in essence a redesign isn't happening because it's simply unnecessary at this point.

This is a very old prototype maybe even an iPhone 4. The phone is on firmware 4.1 which is very old.

Agree. The 3GS was a great upgrade. Mine is still very useful more than two years post release.

Didn't Apple already break the naming scheme by adding "S" to "3G"? I wouldn't be surprised if it's called 4S or 5. I suspect the latter, partly because 4S would seem out of sync with iOS 5. If it's the iPhone 5, it'll be interesting to see what they call the one after that, which presumably will add LTE and maybe not much more.

It appears Apple no longer needs work hard to keep unannounced products a secret b/c all the gloryhounders and pranksters release enough subterfuge to throughly confuse all as to what exactly Apple will be showing off.

By the way, I think that it will be called an iPhone 5 no matter what. I don't think Apple will say "Here is our new A5 chip, new iOS 5, and new 5th generation iPhone called the iPhone 4S."

I agree. There's no way they're using the number 4 for the new model - - it won't sound like progress.

(The only reason they called the 3rd iPhone the 3GS was to let the numbering catch up after the 2nd was called 3G.)
