Um.. You have to pay $100 a year to use it (more for me as Im in Australia and they double charge us)..
You just don't screw over your apple fans who wait for 14 months, and sell them a half ass iPhone 4 to make them buy the same phone but better insides...
How dare you re-name voice recognition or 'Find my friends" to be your own revolutionised idea. Keynote really went ridiculous from when they related the iPhone 4 being more used than the canon 7D... I just can't continue with apple anymore, they are below the expected grade. Apple fan for 6 years, now calling it quits. Going with a FREE, HIGH TECH - RELIABLE source such as the new nexus coming.. or samsung galaxy II for half the price with a bigger screen and all the features.

So just got home from work just now (AT&T). Talk about a weird day. To say people were disappointed was an understatement. I got a good 4 upgrades from people with iPhones getting....guess what....the Samsung Galaxy S II. I'm thinking people are making good on these threats to move to Android this time. It's a great phone, but it just didn't seem to have the wow factor that it needed. Plus discussions of the screen size being too small still keep coming up when I talk to customers.
Anyways, I do think I'm going to sell some old Android phones of mine and test drive the 4S, until my full upgrade comes around. I like to dabble and since I've mainly been an Android kinda guy, I figure it's time to switch things up a bit.
What I'm wondering, is since I'm a AT&T employee, I know I'm not allowed to purchase from any of our stores until AT&T says we can. Which means I'll be heading down to the Apple store. My question I guess would be if Apple stores take cash or is it going to be a strictly credit/debit card affair? If so I might as well go ahead and pre-order the phone online and get it day one.

Just talked to AT&T and I'm not eligible to upgrade until November 18 (upgraded to iPhone 4 on pre-order day 1), but they will let me upgrade on Friday if I call them.

I know most of us are eligible for an upgrade on Feb 25 2012. But I have good news, I called up AT&T and they told me I am eligible now! I don't know if everyone will be given this privilege, but I didn't do anything special, nor am I anyone special, so...but I at least recommend you call at&t and ask them for an early upgrade!

I actually ran into this today at work. I don't know if it's my store, market specific, or if this is a nationwide thing, but I know we are actually no longer allowed to push up upgrade dates in stores as of a few months ago. My advice would be to make sure that if you are working out a deal with customer care, then just have them process whatever and send the phone out by mail to avoid any nasty surprises when you get to the store.
Hopefully they do provide early adopting customers an upgrade path like previous years. I know a lot of people also messed up their upgrade eligibility by either switching from unlimited messaging down to the 1500 messaging plan when they heard it going away. They also were dropping their plans down to the lowest amount of minutes with the unlimited texting and any mobile to any mobile calling, not realizing that also would mess up your upgrade date.
The whole roll out of this phone is strange honestly. We've heard very little from management on anything related to the phone regarding early upgrades, pricing.....anything....Not to mention the phone isn't even on Verizon, AT&T or Sprint's website. Which is just.....strange......

Mr. Gates has far more posts than you (so can the dramatic Windows forum diatribe), and isnt a general "troll" as you say. For the record, there are plenty of folks on MR who will swallow any horse pill Apple gives them and savor it like candy. Its pure rubbish.
I think the iPhone 4s looks nice and would be a pleasure to use...however, Apple drastically overshot their defined (and seemingly reasonable) release cycle, just to deliver a standard HW evolution. Sorry, but thats mediocre to me, and not the incredible innovation and thoughtfulness Ive come to expect from them.
Dont accuse folks of being trolls (which is against forum rules BTW) for not subscribing to a general trend of blind Apple bias. I personally respect opinions that are based in unbiased reasoning and honesty.
That's not true. I bought my 4 at launch and I have been eligible since June. My wife has to wait until Dec 13th this year. She has a 3GS that I bought her last May. I think it has something to do with my number is the primary number on the account.
My buddy is the same way. He bought his and his wife's at the same time at launch and she can't get upgrade until Feb.
Still waiting for you to provide those docs proving that Apple records a huge amount of its business from App Store sales.
Please post them here. I'd like to forward your findings to Tim Cook, Meg Whitman, Steve Ballmer, Michael Dell and a few others (I dunno, Stephen Elop, the twin CEOs at RIM, Larry Page, Paul Otellini, Howard Stringer...).
