Siri is ridiculous. There's nothing I can't do without it about twice as fast. There's too much back and forth, too much verification, error prone and too much confusion. Just too too slow. It's just a toy whose appeal will wear down after exhausting all your stupid sex comments to it. :)

Seriously though, unless driving a car, I can't see ever using this for real productivity.

Really you should think bigger thoughts.

How about hands free in your pocket all the time. I can see my self not even pulling out my phone for most things. I for one will be using it extensively. Now if only Apple would drop the whole only on iphone 4S and make it available on two other platform the iPad 2 and their Laptops.

I could see my self using it all the time on my laptop as well as my iPad. :rolleyes:What an incredible experience that would be if they put this tech into OS X Lion in the near future.

If there's enough RAM to do that.

If Siri is wifi only, this 2 year "evolution" is a joke.

Yes your a joke, next.

Am I the only one that thinks this feature is kind of "toyish"?

Setting alarms, finding restaurants, knowing the weather is nice but it's just a verbal google search engine or an audio macro. And it can't even read back my email? That's something I need on the road.

And there's just too much unnecessary verbal confirmation on Siri's part. It repeats everything too much. Just a couple of beeps indicating it understands would be ok then go do what you were told.

I predict after 3 weeks you guys will use this just as much as you use FaceTime now.

You are probably the only one ... Jk ;-)
1.But I would rather have confirmation rather than sending the wrong stuff.
2. This is just the beginning... Voice command is going to be the future.
3. I love FaceTime . I use it almost daily.

Yeah.. you see, the thing is, every reviewer who actually has the iPhone4S (the one in your head doesn't count) has found Siri extremely impressive and practical. But thanks for your incredible insight.

Well, it's all there in the MacRumors video. Look for yourself.

And those early reviews weren't THAT impressed by Siri if you read the details. Plus, those early reviewers are Apple-chosen anyway, so you can't really rely on them so much.

Well, I can't see how it would work in your pocket if you have to keep pressing the Siri button for every new command. Nor would I expect it to be able to pick up your speech accurately that way, although that's just a guess.

Siri won't be perfect, but it will get better with time as it uses online resources.

While it may take some time to get used to what it can and can't do, I'm sure there will be a dozen or so commands that I will use daily that will simplify many tasks for me (i.e. read/send text, set timer, add calendar event, find restaurant, etc).

I don't get why people want to rip it to the point where they say they don't want it.

You can activate it using the button on your BT headset and by talking into the BT.

Also, you stated that you cant really see a use for it. Think ahead when they can get apps involved. For instance, while driving, 'who won the Redskins game?' I would think involving ESPN quickly would be awesome.

No worries for me though, I just got my Iphone 4 a few months ago so I am sitting this one out and waiting for the 5. With a year under its belt Siri will be more awesome than it is right now.

Why couldn't ONE of these reviewers say whether or not the GSM was locked on Verizon or Sprint with a test?

To clarify, since many confuse this question -- if I get a Sprint/Verizon iphone 4s, will the GSM/SIM card be unlocked so I can use any SIM in it I want while traveling outside the USA

Check the next story for the answer to your question. And stop calling me Siri:D

Speaking just for myself here, I'm not saying I don't want it. I'm just saying I don't think it'll be much faster or easier than touching or typing. I'd certainly rather have it than not.

But I think the reason for the backlash is that this is supposed to be the "killer feature." If apple really talks something up, people are going to rip it if it's not amazing. If it weren't billed as a major feature, people wouldn't criticize it so much when they didn't find it useful.

Strong sales, good reviews, and coming this Friday: long lines and sellouts everywhere ;)

While Siri and the voice command thing sounds wonderful, I really hope that this is NOT the "wave of the future," that at some point in time there is not the scenario that we will no longer be able to type text into our devices and read text on our devices..... There are some of us out here who are not able to use the voice command features and who depend on text-based communication. I hope that Apple doesn't get so enamored of Siri that at some time in the future it leaves some current iPhone customers/users behind.

What does it cost iphone 4 users in contract to upgrade taking sale of old phone into consideration? It looks like att wants 450 for a 16 4s, so how much can I get for a iphone 4 in great shape and where's the best place to sell it? I'm sure some people will sell their iphone4 somewhere for more than 250 and end up with the 4s for cheaper than those not in a contract with a 4.

To break contract it would of been $270 for me and my wires phone, we had iPhone 4's and wanted the new iPhone 4S. Instead of breaking contract or paying $450 per phone for early upgrade. We just added two more lines at $10 extra a month or contract ends in december so we will just cancel the other lines then. Plus we sold the our iPhone 4s for $650 (together). I'll get the 32gb and she'll get the 16gb $500 total plus 2 months of $20 a month for new lines minus $650 equals $110 in pocket extra plus 2 new iPhone 4Ses.

When you say, "Send a text message to my brother Evan," will it default to the new imessage service or will it send him a text to his phone number?
Or will it automatically detect that he is on iOS5?

I've been using iOS 5 for weeks now, it works just like regular messages but it will determine if the other user has iOS 5 or not, if the person your messaging has it, It sends it via iMessages, with nice blue bubbles instead of the old green bubbles.
