So in other words, the iPhone has finally received the CPU it deserves, a camera that doesn't disappoint (for a good point & shoot) and a voice assistant that will make you believe the future has arrived. I'm looking forward to replacing my iPod Touch (3rd Gen) with a 4S. Of course, I'll still use my Touch as my iOS backup device, at least until the iPad 3 arrives.

The pictures that were taken with the 4S on the This Is My Next... review look amazing. I think the improved camera with 1080p video is one of the most exciting things about the new iPhone. iOS 5 will also be awesome, but you can use that on older models so...

Siri is ridiculous. There's nothing I can't do without it about twice as fast. There's too much back and forth, too much verification, error prone and too much confusion. Just too too slow. It's just a toy whose appeal will wear down after exhausting all your stupid sex comments to it. :)

Seriously though, unless driving a car, I can't see ever using this for real productivity.

All that UI stuff can be tweaked over time. I actually like your idea of replacing those confirmatory questions with some interesting tones. Apple will probably make that configurable in Settings, if at all they go in that direction.

If one is worried about looking weird to be talking to a phone, if you hold the iPhone up to your ear, Siri is activated, so it looks like you’re talking to someone on the phone rather than talking to the phone itself. (From Wired review )

Well I just wish Siri can speak as fluent as EDI on Mass Effect 2 ..

That would be awesome. Yea yea .. Siri is great and all, but it still dictates like VoiceOver we have on iPhone and iPod Touch 4G today. Smart in a way, but still not sounds natural

Other than that .. I cant complain much :D

The reviews for the iPhone 4S look great, seems like this will definitely be a great upgrade for non-Phone 4 owners specially! I can't wait!

I'm not going to lie, I'm just as bif a fanboi as the next guy on here. Having said that, Siri doesn't really impress me in the Macworld video. I applaud the start, but I feel this thing has a long way to go to truly take over functionality on my iPhone.

Yeah.. you see, the thing is, every reviewer who actually has the iPhone4S (the one in your head doesn't count) has found Siri extremely impressive and practical. But thanks for your incredible insight.

Why couldn't ONE of these reviewers say whether or not the GSM was locked on Verizon or Sprint with a test?

To clarify, since many confuse this question -- if I get a Sprint/Verizon iphone 4s, will the GSM/SIM card be unlocked so I can use any SIM in it I want while traveling outside the USA

If history is a teacher, then the phone IS locked. I remember Blackberry CMDA Worldphone had this feature, it came with a special 'roaming' SIM installed, and whenever you get to a country were CMDA signal is not available, you roam.

Remember, carriers make a killing from roaming, and yes, I am sure Verizon and Sprint are willing to cooperate with outside GSM carriers to make sure you roam.

I don't totally disagree with you. Maybe it's the video demos that don't do it justice but it just seems like an update voice command function. I'm a 4 owner on the fence for 4s. Believe me I want to love it. I'm just thinking it needs to grow some and isn't so groundbreaking right out the box as others are claiming. I +1'ed ya Tony.

Lmao :D

Siri certainly looks impressive from the several demos I've seen. Its beta, and so can only get better.

One thing I've wanted to do for a long time is to be able to have the phone read SMS, and respond to, when my phone is in my backpack, via my BT headset.

The camera quality looks good, especially the video.

Am I the only one that don't like the idea that Apple bought this useful and free Siri app, closed it to use it as a proprietary feature so that the iPhone 4S can sell better? probably they knew that a better cam and a faster processor weren't enough for an update, so they used this technology of a free software as a highlight feature of the 4S, just because they couldn't make a better iPhone 5...

Siri just needs an internet connections and would even run on the 3GS! it should be integrated in iOS 5 and run on every device. This just feels wrong, I wish Apple would be more open like Google in this case, they opened their Google Voice technology so that everyone can use it, it should be like this. I really hope the jailbreak community will make Siri free again.

And only a couple of weeks ago people were complaining about the specs and threatening to go to Android

And I hope they did go to Android that way less congestion for iPhone users. Oh wait they are children throwing a tantrum about how big their toy gun is :D

I was more impressed with the reviews of Siri until I saw the macworld video. It's good, but not good enough that I'd use it. Not fast enough, not accurate enough, not good enough at translating more casual speech. It's still very impressive software, but I don't see it being faster or easier than touching/typing except when you're driving. I look forward to later versions of this software because it certainly has great potential -- but I don't think it's quite there yet.

I think 5 years down the road, people will be amazed that we once actually had to use our hands to operate a handphone. Guess they will have to find another word to replace "hand" now. :D
