I presume you have done some extensive research on this subject?
Apple is "cool" because they sell premium products with qood quality (hardware and software). Mercedes Benz and BMW are cool because their cars looks impressive and they drive very well. Good premium products will ALWAYS be cool, no matter what segment you're looking at.
Don't know why, but I love this post. Even though Harman/Kardon is better than Onkyo.
We can skip this "naming" dilemma right now.
Call the 4S the iPhone ME, and the Next-gen to be iPhone NT, as IOS is transitioned into the cloud, followed by iPhone XP, Vista, and then reverting back to the old numbering system with the iPhone 7. This year will be the only year with 2 phones, but future versions will come in Home and Professional flavors.

I hope not, I have been waiting for about two years for an iphone, verizon to get it them, and for the iphone 5 to come out. No way am I going get something called the 4S, I would think there are lots of folks waiting for the 5 not some watered down version. If Cook wants to make a good first impression he better come up with something more then the iphone 4S

Apple would have seriously miscalculated the market if they think they can get away with trivial improvements after 15 months, and delay a new substantial upgrade to greater than 24 months.
They will get hit by their shareholders and sales.
And dont say its all about the OS.; We know that 50% of iPhone users dont update the iOS. Yes new phone than ship with iOS5 may do so over the air, but lots and lots of older iPhone owners will change brands between now and next year, if they feel they are being left behind.
That would be a helluva coming out party for new CEO Cook. Plus you forgot to mention adding new Chinese carriers + iPhone model for prepaid calling plans.

Yes and no, when Steve bought out the iPhone he anticipated a 10% share of the market, he knows his own company more than anyone so he thought that his good premium product would get a 10% share, then it became a TRENDY product and got a 50% or more share, millions have jumped aboard the Apple bandwagon in terms of the iPhone and they can't all be because it is a premium product, Steve didn't anticipate how "cool" the iPhone would be with trendy students and college kids when he made his 10% prediction.

Attention iPhone owners: There are other great phones in existence aside from your iPhone 4. And (you might want to sit down for this one), in fact, there are phones in existence that are better than your iPhone 4. And if you don't believe that, it's because you are entitled to your own opinion. Just like those of us who favor other phones over the iPhone are entitled to our own opinion.
PS - How does your iPhone 4 look with that requisite case? Ever dropped it? How did that work out? If you haven't dropped it, aren't you terrified of what will happen to that glass if you do? I know it would scare the hell out of me.
There is as much chance of Tim Cook doing the keynote for iPhone as there is Ozzy Osbourne being voted world's sexiest man, it is simply not going to happen, have you ever heard Tim Cook speak publicly ? best cure for insomnia there is, far better than any drug, Apple simply won't do that, if Steve ain't fit then Phil Schiller will do the keynote, they won't dare put Cook up out there, the audience would fall asleep.
meh... i think cook and others can make a comparable product unveiling
usually steve has help with the iOS and other sections of the keynote... steve usually just does the iphone/ipod/ipad
as long as the PPT slides are on point and the product is impressive, the product will sell itself..
I bet most people are going to be disappointed with the new iPhone when it turns out to be a spec bump iPhone4. My wife and I each have a 3GS and we skipped the iPhone4 and planned to get the iPhone 5 in June/July. Apple didn't ship anything so we've had to wait to see what was going to happen. I bet it's going to turn out we could have bought an iPhone 4 over a year ago and had basically the same phone as we'll get next month.
I just don't see why they would put if off several months just for a spec bump other than the iPhone4 continues to sell well so why not leave it on the market.

Cook despite his social awkwardness will be there but I just see him saying a few words pre keynote before handing over to a decent orator, whether that will be Steve or Phil only time will tell I guess, hopefully Steve

I predicted there will be only one Iphone which is 4S.
I think Iphone 5 looking device might be new ipod.
there is no reason to apple release two different iphone and I don't remember they ever release two devices together (refresh and redesign items).
those financial analysts try to push apple stock higher then make quick profit.

IOS5 was such a major announcement that it seems to me that the software is driving the iPhone this time. all of the internal changes, especially the upgraded processor make the new phone better able to make use of the software enhancements. can't deny that the 3GS was a major upgrade to the 3G. the speed alone was worth the price of a new phone. personally a larger screen and 64gb capacity would be about the only significant changes i'd really care about. but with a new camera, the faster processor, and essentially making all the new phones world phones, actually makes for a very nice upgrade.
when you think of the iPad, the air, the pro, the design changes have been minimal EXCEPT inside.
i think we've had a longer wait for this phone simply because IOS5 wasn't ready. and they rally wanted the new iPhone and the new software to be available at the same time. otherwise, the new phone whatever it is could have easily come out during the regular june/july timeframe. is it just coincidental that gold master versions of the software are just now surfacing. to me this is just having the cake and icing ready at the same time.

Um. Well since even the original iPhone will be capable of running iOS 5, that logic doesn't hold up very well.
They called the 2nd-gen iPhone the 3G... and the 3rd-gen the 3GS... you do the math :/
"ZING" yourself. Yeah, the older iPhone's definitely WERE cheaper build (plastic, somewhat "toyish" looking")
Other phones being "better" as you say... is just your opinion. Nothing else comes close to iOS.. and no other phone is built close to the iPhone 4.
As far as dropping and all that... all phones can break when dropped. I can replace the back for FREE or at most... $30.
If you don't like iOS/iPhones, that's fine... we have our own opinions... but others just don't compare to me.
