'iPhone 4S' to Debut as Only New iPhone Next Month?

No way will there not be an iPhone 5

This is the most eagerly awaited gadget in Apple's history and they have kept us fanboys waiting longer than usual so no way after all this anticipation are they simply going to release a minor upgrade to their existing phone, it is plain bullcrap

It will be a complete redesign with spectacular new features

Have friends that work at Verizon saying that it will just be a iPhone 4 upgrade. Some employees have them to try on the Verizon network.

Not good news :( waiting for the iPhone with bigger screen

1) No way will Cook do the keynote, he is a terrible orator, socially awkward even though he is a brilliant businessman

2) This is Steve's phone, so will the iPhone 6 be, phones are designed years in advance, the iPhone 7 will be the first phone with Cook's DNA on it
 
Jonathan Geller of BGR is also now writing that there WILL be 2 iPhones released. Go figure.
 
You didn't label the latest MacBook Air as MacBook Air 2 … so don't use numbers, Apple.

Also, this could mean that T-Mobile might very well get the 4S, if that's what it's called. Hell, I'd even buy a 3GS if it had iOS5.
 
I just don't think Apple can pull off zero parts being leaked. My money is on 4GS (or whatever they call an upgraded camera + faster processor, but not a larger screen). I feel the rationale is they just aren't ready for the next big iPhone update and, besides, this update is really for all the 3GS users who have been waiting 2+ years.

I seriously hope to be wrong but... and yes, I will be buying the next iPhone. The retina display is enough of an upgrade by itself.

So that is why we only get small increments every year from Apple, and that is why they can come out with an iphone 4S and still have people lined up for days to buy it. So they wont lose it... they might lose you and a few others but they will probably gain enough new people to make up for the lost ones and then some.....

Not at all, 16 month refresh by the time it reaches the shops, 4 months longer than usual.

Plus if the phone is not spectacular and is just a minor upgrade in terms of specs then come upgrade time more and more people who have an iPhone will switch to the Galaxy S III when it comes out in a few months.

If Apple **** this up then it could result in the Galaxy overtaking the iPhone so no way will Apple risk that

Verizon and AT&T employees barely know info about the phones on display in their stores let alone a very secret highly guarded iPhone. I dont know if you are new but these "my friend at verizon" and "my friend at AT&T" posts are pretty much laughed at... Unless your friends are executives who are super high up the ladder then they know less than the public about whats coming from Apple.
 
..hope they wrong... but at the same time I am actually happy, I really love this design... the only thing I hate it's drop calls, because of the death grip... other than that, double glass design is great and very scratch resistant...!
 
With all the rumors flying around, whoever is disappointed in any new product(s) will only have themselves to blame.

They are designed years in advance, but have lots of wiggle room to anticipate competition and mistakes.

What they probably do have is a series of references created by Steve Jobs as a philosophy & style guide. Courses on minimalism and art for executives, etcetera.

No offense but there are tons of high quality android phones with build quality and durability in a whole another league from apple. The iphone is not the most durrable phone especially with its lack of bezel and frequent screen cracking. GO use even a droid incredible from before the iphone 4 came out and tell me its jerky and cheap.
 
If this is true, I'm going to get a Nexus Prime.

I know it will have no effect on you all, but I can't stick with the tiny iPhone screens anymore.

1) Actually I think and you will see it that the presentation will be made by Tim Cook with Steve playing his role like a special guest... :D

2) Nobody said that the new iPhone it's a Cook's product.. I said the company is going to give him a spectacular iPhone 5 to unveil to gain the momentum for the resign of Steve Jobs :cool:
 
This would be a big fail.
Hope it's wrong and Apple needs to innovate to stay on top.
Don't disappoint everyone on your first big announcement Tim Cook!

I still think that the iPhone 4 is holding up great, even when looking at its direct competition.

Really, Apple should be in no rush to release brand spanking new hardware when their competitors haven't even caught up to a model that is out for 15+ months now... Same as with the iPad. I GUARANTEE you that we would have a retina display iPad in our hands at this very moment if Samsung/Acer/HP had released some competitive tablets of their own. They haven't, so Apple can reap the benefits of mass producing increasingly more cost efficient hardware and the masses eat it up...
