Don't burn your Apple T-Shirt, this ANALISYS IS A FAKE TO MANIPULATE APPLE STOCKS DEPRETIATION.

I Agree with BGR about this, and WILL BE BOTH A NEW IPHONE 4, AND AN ALL NEW IPHONE 5.

The new iPhone 4 (maybe Named "4+ or 4e, not 4S) willbe a DOWNGRADED iPhone 4, A4cpu (on new process 45nm) only 8GB, SAME CAMERA MODULES AS iPod TOUCH, GLOBAL WCDM/GSM NETWORK, Plastic Back, Aluminum Frame/Antenna, *MAYBE* will include NFC if targeted to More Markets than CHINA (As WSJ Stands).

The ALL NEW iPhone 5 (Maybe Named "iPhone PRO" as some Trademarks tat Apple Holds may suggest), will be SLIMMER (iPad 2 LookaLike) and have a 4" Screen, SAME RES but "Still a Retina Display"..., A5 dualcore @600Mhz (800 on iPad2), GLOBAL WCDM/GSM NETWORK, NFC, 8MPX, and GESTURE ENABLED HOME BUTTON.
This is the most Accurate Rendering:

Image

This sounds the most accurate which is crazy considering these renderings were floating around back in the spring. It makes you wonder if the iPhone was on track for a proper summer launch, and something happened that pushed the launch back to the fall?

guess no one remembers how pissed apple was that iPhone 4 was leaked? OF COURSE WE AREN'T SEEING PARTS AND LEAKS, they have ***** on lock down now!

In defense of the analysts, though, it's hard to control other-company Chinese security.

Stuff almost always sneaks out because the communicators cannot always anticipate the depths of perfidy to which snoopers will resort.

:)

But, anyway, c'mon, now: The iPhone 4 is still close to the top of the heap just as it is. If you'd asked me what I wanted to change about it, my answer would include the slightly larger screen, altered antenna design, and the A5 processor.

I'm not mad at all. It sounds, rather, like maybe they're in touch with the realities of the market and the needs of their supporters.

The last people in China to release info about the iPad 2 prior to launch are now behind bars. Apple doesn't mess around when it comes to leaks about future products. Rest assured no one but Apple will be saying a word about the iPhone 5!

Which no doubt proves that they make stuff up in Japan too!

Actually, AU/KDDI doesn't carry the iphone at the moment in Japan - only Softbank does. Just like Verizon released the iphone after ATT in the states, it seems AU will do the same here in Japan. About time another Telco got the iphone here.

Here's my theory. Apple learned a valuable lesson after the iPhone 4 design leak disaster. That lesson was, if it's being manufactured, then it will be leaked. So, the only way to counteract a leak is to have nothing in production. My guess is that Apple has been ramping up production on the iPhone 4S. I think the leaked parts and specs are pretty accurate. At the October 4th media event, Tim Cook introduces the iPhone 4S. The 4S will have bumped up specs when compared to the iPhone 4, a reduced price, and be available immediately. This will be a great upgrade option for those people who may be looking for a cheaper Android phone. Right after Engadget writes "Meh!" on their liveblog, Tim Cook introduces the iPhone 5. The iPhone 5 has a different form factor, larger screen, internals similar to the iPhone 4S, a cost consistent with past iPhone prices, and won't be available until November "X" (pick a date). At that point, Apple will have been well-stocked on iPhone 4S's and iPhone 5 production will ramp up.

Of course, my theory could be completely wrong. However, if it's somewhat accurate, I think Apple starts iPhone 5 production very close to the Apple media event. We may even see some leaks around October 4th. Let's hope so (*fingers crossed*).

I'm not sure what's worse, this or no iPhone 5 this year at all.

8Mp camera.... that's worse than some our competitors
Except for a Sony Ericsson Android phone still under sheets (loaded with a 12 MP camera), there hasn't been an Android phone that is widely available (I think some of the JDM droids have cameras exceed 10MP) that packs a camera higher than 8MP.

But quality =/= megapixels.

I agree with this.

Unlikely

Apple would not schedule an event for this singular product / carrier combination announcement. That can be done with a press release.

Nor would they schedule an event for an iPod update.

So one may expect something more substantial than a Sprint iPhone and an iPod update.

iPhone 1 = New Design
iPhone 2 = Same Design, improved Capacity
iPhone 3G = New Design
iPhone 3GS = Same Design, improved Specs
iPhone 4 = New Design

See the Pattern? A new Design every 2 Years. Whats hard to understand here?
iPhone 2, I must have missed that one?!

iPhone 1 = New fantastic design & software which changed phones forever, but no camera, 2g only & terrible call quality
iPhone 3G = New crap design in cheap plastic to get production costs down, but a great advancement in features & performance.
iPhone 3GS = Same cheap design but with vastly improved internals & finally video recording about 5 years after everyone else. By this time, you've invested in 2 years of apps & so you stick with it & Apple knows this.
iPhone 4 = Brand new very pretty looks, but a little let down by a serious design floor in the antenna which should have been fixed at pre-production stage in testing, but Steve Jobs repaid the loyalty of fanboys by releasing it anyway.
A completely redesgned iPhone 5 will raise the bar for others to meet in terms of design, but only match it's competitors in terms of specs.
An iPhone 4s model will simply address the antenna issue(should have been done 18 months ago in iphone pre-production & uprates the specs a bit...
iPhone 5(Pass, for now at least & hopefully a game changer)
iPhone 4s(Gigantic fail & before the fanboys jump in and give me sales figures, the dumbed down masses will swallow anything that's given & Apple knows they've got them by the testicles with iTunes & the Apps)

Apple are becoming the "Microsoft" of cellphones, selling us proprietry crap & no longer innovating because they don't need to with their market share.

THERE IS A BIG DIFFERENCE BETWEEN INNOVATION & GREAT MARKETEERING, I HOPE PEOPLE WAKE UP & VOTE WITH THEIR FEET IF APPLE LET THEM DOWN AGAIN.

18months wait for an "S" ... no thanks.
i'm sure my i4 can run ios5 just fine :)

All this ****, is an DIRECTED "ANALYSIS", the purpose of this "analyst" is to manipulate STOCK MARKETS, is well know tha if Apple doesn't launch a SUITABLE RIVAL against NEW AND CURRENT ANDROIDS (SPECIALLY THE JUST LAUNCHED GALAXY SII) Apple will lost a lot of MARKET with it stocks going down.

I want to agree with your posts, but your usage of all caps annoys the crap out of me.

Why was this voted down? It's a fact that those in China that leaked the iPad 2 info are in jail right now.

i

iPhone 3G had great advancement in features and performance ? I missed that. It had a new case and a 3G chip. Of all the new iPhones, it was the most basic upgrade that ever was.

People it's quite simple :

There will be a new iPhone 5 announced. It won't be a "4S", that's just a name rumor sites throw around. It will have the same casing as the iPhone 4. It will have an A5 processor, a new camera and maybe a bigger screen (by removing the bezel).

The 3GS was named 3GS and not 3 because of the iPhone 3G, not because it was a "small" upgrade. If anything the iPhone 3G -> iPhone 3GS was much bigger than the iPhone -> iPhone 3G upgrade.

Who knows—but the 3GS had a great run, and kept a similar name (and shape) as the 3G.

I think there will be no new iPhone shape next month—but more important than the shape AND the name is simply: is it faster and improved? The iPhone 4 is already the best all-around smartphone you can buy, for nearly every buyer’s needs--so a step up from that, by any name, sounds good to me!

The iphone 4 has been outclassed by better smartphones for well over a year. The only thing keeping it relevent is ignorant Apple drones who have no idea what else is out there. The rest of us have been enjoying dual core large display 4g superphones with 8mp cameras for over a year. Welcome to 2010 Apple.

Once again:
iPhone4 = insanely great.
iPhone4S will even better.

The problem with that is, you have 6 kinds of people:

1) Fanboys who will buy anything Apple does. To those, it doesn't really mean anything if the next iPhone will be a big innovation, a slightly modified iPhone 4 or a piece of trash with the Apple logo.

2) People who think the iPhone 4 is great... And thus have already bought an iPhone 4. Those are likely going to like the "iPhone 4S" (which Apple may call an iPhone 5) since they like the iPhone 4, but not everyone will update from their current cell phone to something which is only slightly better.

3) People who think the iPhone 4 is great... And for whatever reason, haven't been able to buy one yet, but could buy an iPhone soon. For those, it wouldn't really be much of a difference if Apple released the iPhone 4S or not - they could just buy an iPhone 4.

4) People who have the iPhone 3G (S or not) and don't like the iPhone 4. Those will probably also not like the iPhone 4S, since it's basically the same thing as the 4, and thus Apple is not going to appeal to them.

5) People who don't like anything Apple has done for now. Those probably won't like the iPhone 4S, since it's so similar to the iPhone 4, which those people don't like.

6) People who hate Apple and refuse to buy anything from them. Those are blind and wouldn't buy the iPhone 5 even if it were the greatest thing ever.

The iPhone 4S, if released as an iPhone 5, would then appeal only to the fanboys (who would buy anything anyway), those who have an iPhone 4 and despite having bought it somewhat recently are already willing to upgrade it for a slightly better model, and those who wanted to buy an iPhone 4 but for some reason hadn't been able to do so until now, and would rather buy the iPhone 4S than the 4.

If it's true that this year will focus more on software updates through the iOS 5 than in hardware updates, then a new iPhone is somewhat moot - no one needs to buy an iPhone 5 to run iOS 5, when they could simply get an iPhone 3GS or an iPhone 4.

there are 2 reports dating back in February that state that the iPhone 4S will have an entirely different look than the current iPhone 4.

Bloomberg
Apple has considered selling the new iPhone for about $200, without obligating users to sign a two-year service contract, said the person who has seen it... While Apple has aimed to unveil the device near mid-year, the introduction may be delayed or scrapped, the person said. The prototype was about one-third smaller than the iPhone 4, and it had no “home” button, said the person, who saw it last year. Apple would sell it at a low price mainly because the smartphone will use a processor, display and other components similar to those used in the current model, rather than pricier, more advanced parts that will be in the next iPhone, the person said.

Wall Street Journal, (the source that broke news of the announcement date of October 4, 2011)
One of the people, who saw a prototype of the phone late last year, said it is intended for sale alongside Apple's existing line. The new device would be about half the size of the iPhone 4, which is the current model. The new phone—one of its code names is N97—would be available to carriers at about half the price of the main iPhones.

on the iPhone 5
The person who saw the prototype of the new iPhone said the device was significantly lighter than the iPhone 4 and had an edge-to-edge screen that could be manipulated by touch, as well as a virtual keyboard and voice-based navigation. The person said Apple, based in Cupertino, Calif., also plans to upgrade the iPhone 4.

If you offered two phones:

An iPhone 3GS w/ no 3G Chip
An iPhone 3G

...the iPhone 3G would outsell the 3GS by a large margin.

And by "insanely great" you mean "has documented issues with it's antenna and is made of such fragile materials that it shatters from short drops," right?

I consider a thing, just collect data from websites and chinese providers.

All my sources public and private speaks about two models, the new cheap iPhone 4(name it 4s, 4+,4e,4#..) and another biggler but slimmer and ligther, with 4" screen, same res, same aspect ratio, and very big rectangular home button presumible with gesture enabled (APPLE holds PATENTS ON GESTURE ENABLED HOME BUTTON).

Only unconfirmed things are about iPhone 4S/E/+ materials and cameras, and all About NFC.

Isn't that a false comparison. The iPhone was more expensive than the iPhone 3G. So of course the 3G sold better.

I certainly won't, and i have been in the queue in my local Apple store since ip3GS, ipad1 and ipad2 but a 4S no way. I hate the 4 and i can't wait to get rid of it.
I'm so glad to hear you say that. I know that I certainly have no interest in an iPhone 5, getting burned by the Antenna Gate Debacle was just too much. I'm going to enjoy my new Galaxy S II and then take a good look at iPhone 6. After another year, I would think that Apple would learn how to build a good antenna.

A sad fact, but a fact. Where are the links to all the Apple fans stating that the leaked Iphone 4 pics were "ugly" and "Apple would never do that"....

Isn't that a fact. A very sad fact indeed. Highly hypocritical and fickle the average Apple worshipper will simply buy into anything that Apple does or produces. It's their Gospel.

It's not realistic to expect earth-shattering changes every time a product is updated.

You are 100% correct and I could not agree more.

The only problem I have with the iP4 is Steve Job's insistence that the Antenna stay the way it is, AFTER his engineers advised him that it was a problem. That's well documented from a variety of sources.

Why Apple holds style over function when it makes their laptops run so hot and their iPhone 4 perform dreadfully as a phone is beyond me. There are ways to compromise without giving up style altogether.

I'm glad I am not up for a new phone until next year. All this iPhone 4S/5 news would be nerve-racking.
I waited until the first week of October last year to get the iPhone 4 when I was eligible for an upgrade in March. I was waiting for the white but caved by October. I think that pushed my upgrade to June 2012.
