iPhone 4S... update to 5.01?

Oh, I agree. I never needed the unlock when I had my 3GS, but I preserved the baseband like it was gold for resale purposes. Then, when it came time to sell it, I found (in my area, at least), that the unlockable baseband wasn't really that coveted. It didn't help me sell the phone any faster or for more money.

This time around, I've just decided to do what's best for me and not worry about how much $$$ it might cost me when the time comes to sell the 4S.

I always put my phones on eBay and they tend to sell very quickly internationally.

I thought about the eBay route with my 3GS, but I've just heard too many horror stories about sellers getting screwed over by both eBay and PayPal. It wasn't worth the risk to me. And I'm a well-established seller on eBay with 100% good feedback. I wasn't willing to risk my rating over it either.

I upgraded OTA yesterday to 5.0.1 with the .13 baseband after reading this thread. I originally tried to upgrade via iTunes, but I kept getting errors when trying to download 5.0.1....now it looks like that was a good thing as I read people are more confident with the 405/.13 vs 406/.14

Yeah i upgraded OTA but i wish i hadn't as my battery life is no where near as good on my 4s on 5.0.1 as it was on 5

I just read this as well. My 4S is on 5.0.1 with the 9A405 build and 1.0.13 BB, so essentially I'm good for an unlock? I'm on AT&T but unlocking the iphone would be nice for a future sell.

I dont think it means your good for an unlock it just means your chances are greater for a newer exploit to be found on a lower base band.

5.0 is the one to be on if you wanted the unlock.

Actually, the article states that an unlock is not even guaranteed for 5.0 but instead stay on iOS 5.0 to maximize their chances of an unlock. I have faith in MN and he will be able to unlock 1.0.11 real soon. Just glad to see a jailbreak will be released for 5.0 too.

Yeah tested this and this is ONLY IPHONE 4 and older

Snowbreeze is for IP4 only not 4S

It depends on Limera1n, which is the bootrom exploit for the IP4

Me too, I was alway afraid to go to .13 or .14 but with so many conflicting threads out there on the internet, I didn't know what to do. I'm going to Europe next month and desperately want to be able to use my new 4s, (not some junkie disposible phone)

You'll have to manually search for it online. You can't find it through iTunes, that's only sending 9A406.

According to MN 5.0 on the iphone 4s will be supported.

If you want to unlock it seems like the best option is to remain on OS 5.0
