either that or i'll keep my 4 & 4S and look for another alternative (yes i'm a nerd with 3 smartphones)

I loved reading that exact quote by forum members when the iPhone 4 was leaked. Funny thing is, those members ended up buying the iPhone 4 months later.

Moral of the story, don't judge until you see it in person (along with Apple announcing its new features).

Someone should save all the quotes, and look them up when these members talk about their new iPhones later. Would be fun, however, too much effort.

Im calling bulls**t on this as:

1. Is there even any events scheduled in for september with apple. Surely they would be booked by now (even if marked as generic event)
2. Still dont believe in the iPad mini (pointless size)
3. Everyone knew the ipad 3 release date

iLounge is pretty much backing everything in this story and has even more tidbits:

http://www.ilounge.com/index.php/ba...xt-iphone-ipods-ipad-mini-ipad-4th-gen-cases/

I'd put iLounge up there with the WSJ for reliability.

I didn't say it was. I think the original quotes are right. Apple did refer to it as "the new iPad" in all press materials.

arn

Like the new "MacBook Air". We all know "the new" didn't belong in the quotes though :

the new MacBook Air press material

The press material mentionning "the new" still doesn't make it part of the model name. On Apple's site, their boxes, it's just plain iPad. And that is also "press material" if you ask me.

Anyway, do what you like, it's your site.

"iMore reports that they have heard that the next generation iPhone, new iPod nano, and all new 7.85" iPad mini will be announced on September 12th"

But no mention of a Touch. Since a Mini IS mentioned, I would say the Touch is EOL and will be feature frozen if still available.. Just as well since I was planning on getting a Mini instead of a Touch anyway. I love the Touch 3rd gen that I have but it doesn't have much of a niche anymore. As I said a year ago the number of used iPhones will reach a level that they will be the Touch replacement in many homes.

No need for a touch when the iPad mini is here.

When they decide to hold the press conference in Cupertino, they don't have to book any venue. They know the press will jump easily and happily with a week's notice to come to Cupertino to see what they have.

You can't polish a turd, but you can roll it in glitter.

LOL! I haven't heard that one before!:D

Yes to iPhone 5, NO to iPad 7.85", well then again I guess they can price it at £300 plus if they want and change the entire iPod business plan?

I'm gonna have to do some money trickery to get mine though as I want the 32GB, and my car needs new tyres plus it's first MOT and a service in September! Yikes!! But luckily I can most likely get £200 plus for my iPhone 4 still :D

Given the popularity of the iPod nano as a watch, I'm hoping Apple at some point will give the nano smartwatch capability allowing it to connect via bluetooth to your iPhone. But with the lack of any rumors to that effect, I doubt it happens this time around. Giving the nano smartwatch capability would be very easy for Apple to do and would be extremely popular I think.

But the iPhone 4 was a great design, I'm not sure why some people ever disliked it. This new one isn't as good, it's a step back - if indeed it is real.

Tim is probably pissed that everything leaked. We all know the internals will get a bump. I guess the only thing we don't know is, what will be that iPhone 5 gimmick that they claim the iPhone 4S can't run.

LTE?

That's why I'm excited to upgrade. I have an LTE hotspot right now and the speeds are just unbelievable.

(Now, I know there's a whole contingent of people who suggest that LTE is useless because of fixed data caps. That's absurd. Not all of us are looking for faster speeds because we need to stream movies or download absurdly large files. I do a lot of work on the road. The decreased latency and faster speeds of LTE make a huge difference in my productivity when I'm not in my office.)

Agreed sigh. If they give it a number it will be 5. I don't get why so many can't figure that out. Most of the iPhone purchasers aren't Apple geeks and therefore would wonder where the missing iPhone 5 went. It really is simple. 3G > 3GS > 4 > 4S > 5.

In the past they have usually announced updated iPod models in the September month.

This apparent "iPad mini" Is most likely an updated iPod Touch with more features.

Apple wouldn't need to book any places either as they have held a number of Apple events at the Apple town hall, which is on the Apple Campus itself.

Two Thoughts:

(1) Tim Cook recently said "Apple is doubling-down on privacy." It would be quite funny to learn that this is a controlled leak of misinformation. In a way, I hope it is. I think he's doing a good job. I'd get a kick out of this being part of the doubling-down on privacy.

(2) Regardless of whether this is true, this is going to decimate iPhone sales and some iPad sales for the next month and a half.
