Maybe the theory is there are only so many units that Express and Expedited can take so they arbitrarily divided between the two?
And I always seem to arbitrarily stuck in the slower group. Happened with my iPhone 4, MBP, and, iPad 2!! FML
Ah, scanned in Louisville 7am this morning. No expected delivery date yet, but I assume it'll be soon.
The flight times confuse me... I got a text from UPS saying my phone is in transit to Louisville, KY, but it just left Hong Kong last night at 8:30PM their time... Isn't the next step Alaska? Then to Louisville? I checked flightaware.com & the Louisville Int'l Airport and there are no flights from Hong Kong to Alaska nor Hong Kong directly to Louisville, KY today... So just wondering if anyone has a better idea or if UPS is just off with their arrival & departure times & maybe my phone was on a different flight... I'm express delivery for the 27th currently
I think we are on the same flight, my departure is also at 8:30pm from Hong Kong but I'm not seeing any UPS flights from HK to AK.
I figure as long as my phone gets to Louisville tomorrow morning, I'll have it in my hands Tuesday.
Yeah I couldn't find any flights last night for ZhengZhou to Hong Kong & it made it there... So I guess that adds to my confusion & doubts on the accuracy, but hey if it ends up getting to me Wednesday I'm a happy camper! Better than 10/5 by far! To everyone who's hasn't shipped or is in limbo, I wish I had an answer to Apple's methods & madness but sadly I do not... But hopefully you will all get your phones soon! My Wife's had hers for 3 days, so I'm tortured each day until mine gets here!
To all the folks thinking they'll have these tomorrow...is that just wishful thinking? I'd think they'd go from Louisville to your local hub early tomorrow (no flights out post 8:30AM from Louisville today) then go out for delivery the following morning. Not sure though.

Black 64gb found via UPS reference tracking still in ZhenZou. I also have not received a shipping confirmation email for the black phone. It has been "preparing for shipment" since friday. I called Apple regarding the 64, and they said that it's packaged and just awaiting UPS to pick it up. I asked why it has been waiting for 3 days to be picked up and basically got "I'm sorry it's taking so long" answer.

Yeah, it's wishful thinking. The flight from Louisville to my area's hub doesn't fly on Sundays so it's looking more like Tuesday. Then again, I could see Apple having them hold everything until the Thursday delivery date we got in our emails so that all these people who are still stuck in China don't feel cheated.
Lessons learned: if you're gonna pay with a credit card, expect some delays. Don't preorder ever again.

yeah i'm with you guys... I made the mistake of going to look at the new phone at the apple store yesterday. now I REALLY want it!
Well said, agree 1000%. Shame on Apple, there seems to be plenty of stock out there. Got a call from my local Radio Shack on Saturday morning (been on the waiting list there) to let me know they have a bunch of 5s ready to go if I want them - 16 or 32 GB, black or white.

Express vs expedited appears to be random, maybe UPS forced them to split among the two methods?
I ordered two 32's 7 minutes apart on the 14th (5:40a eastern). The later order shipped first via express, and departed HK already. The earlier order just shipped via expedited and is on its way to HK. We will see if the different shipping method makes a difference once they are in the US. I hope expedited doesn't mean a truck from KY to me in PA!!!

My 64gb white I ordered at 4:17am EDT on Sep 14th that had an original delivery date of oct 5th arrived in Louisville this morning so I will have it tomorrow.

what does the ups date state?Oh, that makes me hopeful, since you said our phones seem to have the same tracking information! Where did you get that UPS information? Was it on the tracking page of the UPS site?
My phone that landed in Louisville this morning is still not showing a delivery date in the UPS tracking. I'm in WI so I'm guessing Tuesday though.
