I'm not trolling, just shocked that people feel the need to complain about getting a product earlier than they expected. I'm in the same boat as the rest of you. Ordered at like 10am EST and have tracking info that hasn't left Zhengzhou yet. I'm actually thrilled it looks like ill get it a week or more early.

Yeah I would think its on the way to the US by now..i think we will see another update tonight or definitely by tomorrow a.m.

I wonder why some are getting updates and others aren't. I'd have thought that if their system was 'stuck' nobody would be getting updated.

Probably because we don't consider it early for preorders, which are supposed to be delivered on launch day. It's sort of like a sale where they first raise the price and then reduce it (but still higher than the original price) and then want you to think you're getting a bargain.

Hmmm...my UPS tracking states that it's shipping via Worldwide Expedited, but I see some with Worldwide Express. Mine, according to Apple, will arrive by the 28th.

I'm in Los Angeles, CA.

First it was 'preparing for shipment' limbo, now it's 'stuck in China' limbo. Who else in here has one that hasn't moved since:

ZhengZhou, China 09/22/2012 10:55 P.M. Arrival Scan

mine is the same as this. 64GB white ATT

ZhengZhou, China 09/22/2012 10:55 P.M. Arrival Scan
09/22/2012 10:45 P.M. Departure Scan
09/22/2012 4:58 A.M. Origin Scan
China 09/22/2012 8:18 A.M. Order Processed: Ready for UPS

Mine is also....it must be one big orgy of phone sex in zhengzhou!

Not if they run out of stock due to demand. But they did instruct them to hold all the preorders scheduled to arrive on Friday until that day out of fairness.

Except that it's BS that they didn't anticipate the demand and make sure pre-orders were covered before the stores. And if they did they should have shipped the remaining pre-orders from the stock that was about to go to the stores. That would have been fair. The people lined up at the stores know they're taking a chance. When you pre-order you're supposed to be guaranteed delivery on launch day. Otherwise all you did was a back order.

Black 32 GB shipped 5/23 at 5:51am to east coast.

Order placed on Sep14 via apple at 7:00am (est).

Credit card charged Sep21.

Expedited Shipping...

UPS has weird marketing..They have expedited and express. I think to most folks the word expedited implies faster than merely express, yet the express is faster.

lol, please tell me when apple stated if you pre-ordered you were "GUARANTEED" delivery?

seriously people, it's not life or death. you had a weeks notice and should of though of a second option if you wanted it on launch day.

Another update!

Ordered 10am day preorders began. Estimated delivery was the 5th. Has now SHIPPED! and delivery date is the Friday the 28th! So excited! :)

We Knew One Hour

We knew one hour after Apple allowed "Pre-Orders." That our order wasn't a "Pre-Order. The page clearly stated when we would receive our orders. We are if fact getting the product earlier than stated and I as one am happy for it.

Maybe you did. I ordered via the Apple Store app. I saw no such disclaimer about the pre-order not being a pre-order. I didn't find out till I saw the email confirmation the next day.

Lessons learned: if you're gonna pay with a credit card, expect some delays. Don't preorder ever again.

All preorders should be fulfilled before any human touches one in a line.

When you only allow preordering about a week before the phones show up in stores, it is probably logistically impossible for all preorders to be handled before any show up in stores. Unless you don't allow store shipments until all preorders are supplied (and in this case, ordering on Thursday would still have been preordering). Then you have a lot of angry people that way too.

If Apple had delayed shipments another 2 or so weeks after the announcements, they could have better handled supplies for early preorders and stores, but also upset people with how early they announced it.

Ordered 32gb black AT&T @6:30 est on 9/14 from Apple. Order has been showing "Preparing for Shipment" since early yesterday.

I'm sorry, I have to speak out against this line of reasoning. Pre-orders are not meant to guarantee delivery before the phone is available in retail channels. If that we're true, people could "pre-order" at 7:59am on launch day and take all the phones out of the retail channel. Not just Apple stores, but Target, Best Buy, Wal-Mart, etc. All would have to check pre-orders before selling a phone to someone in the store.

What pre-ordering guarantees you is a phone. You were given an expected ship and delivery date, and you made the calculated choice as to whether it made more sense to accept that deal or take your chances at retail. Now Apple is delivering earlier than promised, and you're still complaining.

I thought it was faster. Lol. Whatever, anything before oct 5 is gravy.
