Regarding these estimated delivery dates, from what I have gathered the Apple estimated delivery date is the outer limit of the range that the shipper "owes" them. So, for example, UPS Expedited promises delivery to US from Asia in five business days, so if it shipped on Saturday they would owe delivery by Friday 9/28.
If and when UPS posts the estimated delivery date, that date will typically hold solid. This may or may not be earlier than the original estimated delivery by Apple since UPS can often beat their promised delivery date.
Mine said the same thing earlier, but it wound up in South Korea and on it's way to Anchorage.
Well, mine is officially delivering on Oct 1st (a Mondsy) so I won't be able to get mine till maybe Wednesday when someone is actually home to sign for the package :-/ I was really hoping it would make a Friday or Saturday delivery, but I have terrible luck apparently.
They need to get the Kentucky folks some coffee, they're not doing anything.
It's tough waiting... but knowing it is coming before Oct 5th is good enough for me.
How did you find out your tracking information if Apple hasn't contacted you and your card was charged? On Apple, does it say, your shipment has shipped or preparing for shipment?
I'm hoping mine is on that one. I'll be refreshing ups and flight aware like crazy.

I've read you can do it via track by reference, but nothing comes up if its ready to be shipped? I ordered three iPhones, one's in Louisville, the other in Jamaica, NY. I've been stuck on Preparing for shipment for so long. I'm guessing an October 1st shipment we don't get info on this today?
My theory was correct , I believe. Looks like I was on a direct flight from Hong Kong to the lower 48. Although that would have been one hell of a long flight, so maybe they just didnt scan in Alaska.. Hopefully I can get my phone tomorrow. That would be sick! I live in Oklahoma

Sigh, still stuck in ZhengZhou 'Ready for UPS', since 3:21pm 9/24...
Have been thinking about it, and am starting to believe that the shipping companies are likely overwhelmed by the million individual boxes. Would love to believe that they care as much about getting my shiny new toy to me as I do, but it is more likely that they are just doing 'business as usual'. Probably added a few people to their shipping facilities in China, and are likely working 24 hours (and what does THAT do to their efficiency?), but I would be surprised if the receiving locations (like Kentucky) had bumped the staff up. Will be happy with it whenever I get it, knowing that the 'shiny' will likely be worn off within a week and I'll be hungering after the iPhone 6 rumor threads....

When these shipments hit the US, hasn't UPS been including a scheduled delivery date on the tracking page? Everything I have ever had delivered by UPS, once it has been scanned into their system, the page updates to: "In Transit - On time", Scheduled delivery October 5, 2012 by End of Day.

What? I have already left Georgia... And my route seems like it has not been followed previously, so I would not be surprised if it went somewhere other than Louisville...

I'm in the same boat and was thinking of calling to see if they had more info, guess I won't bother now! I'm in WI so I'm guessing it'll go to Chicago first but who knows. I was hoping to get it tomorrow but that's seeming increasingly unlikely.

On the UPS website I went to "Live Chat" and it shows a screen with the current status and some FAQs. Mine says "In transit to - Louisville, KY, US"
