Thought I'd share my strange journey. Ordered at 4am Central so got the 1-2 wk reply. Patiently waited and then got the Apple "your item has shipped and will arrive on the 28th" email on Saturday morning. A few hrs later UPS logged that an order had been received and would be trackable when it was picked up. And there it sat unchanged the rest of Saturday, Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday morning.

I finally called UPS who said that they had not yet received the phone from Apple! A call to Apple and they said yes UPS did have it. After some hold time while Apple and UPS "talked," the Apple rep told me the phone was somewhere in transit and that when it scanned I would get an email. (So no real information) He also gave me his direct connection which I appreciated.

Less than 2 house later, UPS posts a customs scan in Louisville as of almost the exact time I was on the phone. That was 10 hours ago and no updates since.

I think the real story here is the really poor UPS tracking updates. If my phone arrives tomorrow (in Kansas City) which I think may happen, the sum total of UPS updates will be: waiting for pick-up, customs scan, delivery. :confused:

One last note: I have really enjoyed and appreciated the banter and updates here. It has been fun. One thing I have noticed is that there are two levels of excitement - the:

1. "Wow, it's almost Christmas I hope Santa's OK" level

and the

2. "When will the flight with my new liver for the transplant get here?" level

but the it IS an iPhone! ;)

Wow. Thanks for sharing that. It gives me some comfort that my phone is not still in Korea! UPS est delivery date is Thursday. Hope so!!

I ordered from Apple about 20 minutes after what seemed to be the cutoff to get launch day delivery, and I was among the 10/5 delivery date crowd. Then over the weekend the date was revised to 9/28, and the phone shipped.

Today the status updated to delivery for tomorrow, 9/26 -- happy! -- several hours after I leave town for a few days -- sad!
 
According to package mapping my phone is in Livonia MI! On to Farmington Hills tomorrow!!! If only my case had arrived.

Just an update for all of us that were having that 4:10 departure but no arrival soon after like everyone else. We have departed zhengzhou!! Based on looking at about 15 tracking orders on here we are on schedule to get a Friday delivery. Here's info below, it just updated in the last 5 minutes.

Why does it say departed twice???

And how do you know it's a Friday delivery? Mine doesn't give a delivery estimate.

Looks like us 4:10pm people got the same statuses (two departures). Yes, I would like to know how we can tell when we are actually receiving the phone. For it to be in China still with two days left until Friday doesn't give me much hope.

What does this status even mean?
The plane left China and realized they needed more fuel so they turned around and are now heading back?
 
*sigh* I'm in the same boat. I was sooo hoping...

Ah well. Oct 1 is my actual birthday so I guess it wouldn't be the worst birthday ever but an early present would have been nice. Still better than Oct 5 but not by much!

If it had actually left ZhengZhou the first time (on 9/25 at 4:10pm) we would have definitely received it by Friday. Based on the patterns observing others who've received theirs already, we are looking at Monday. :(

Why did the package depart only to depart again from the same place?

All phones have two departure scans in ZhengZhou, your updates are just missing the arrival scan in between.
 
4:10 people - everyone had an origin, departure, arrival, and then departure again all in china. For some reason they missed our arrival scan for our pallet. Origin was scanned at factory and then departed factory, arrived at shipping facility, and then departed China shipping facility.

My reason why it will be here Friday - everyone who is expecting their phones tomorrow departed China on the 24th. Why wouldn't we expect the same? Here is my dads stuff on his that is scheduled for delivery for tomorrow. His is arriving 2 days after departure day. And ours are leaving China 8 hours earlier in the day as well.

Well, that makes me feel better. I'd love to see it before this weekend.

I'm having mine delivered to work. I made sure to change my shipping address the minute I could! I live in an apartment building and my apartment is next to the laundry room. There was no way I was leaving that box there!

hey did this happen to anyway i ordered on the phone, guy was really talking alot said something about a 66$ charge thought it was for activating the line or something, i got a box of accessories case, bluetooth, screenprotectors, car charger...i didnt even pick the stuff and the return slip says a 35$ restocking fee
 
Mine shipped on the 22nd. Arrived in Louisville today with a delivery date of 9/27. Checked tracking again this evening and now they've bumped up delivery to tomorrow.

Lots of luck to folks that are still waiting. If yours is still in Korea take solice in the fact that, at least for me, that once it left there things really started moving quick. Arrived in Anchorage from Korea and flew out and arrived to Louisville in the same day.
