Long shot I know, but anyone think Steve recorded a video to introduce the iPhone 5 (or another pet project i.e. Apple's solution to the TV problem)?

If I knew my time was short, and my baby project was in production- I'd record a "final keynote" and have it revealed by Tim as a "ONE MORE THING"

Talk about getting press- and this would be so up his alley, I'd think.

Steve did have theistic tendencies, but I doubt even he would have thought about pulling a Hari Seldon on us. But then, who knows? :)

No way will Apple announce the new iPhone at WWDC. Especially if we're getting new Macs. They're not going to announce all of that in one quarter. What would they have for Q4 then?

If it comes out with a design like that, i won't buy it...it's basically a stretched iphone 4. I'll keep my 4 for another year.
When we jumped from 3Gs to 4, apple changed the design quite a bit, it's what i'm expecting going from 4S to 5...

Couldn't they have made the iPhone 4/4S metal frame without gaps? No, because the gaps are needed to keep the different antennas separate. Same thing here, the different materials at the back have a functional role of keeping antennas separate.

If they moved the antennas to the outside via the stainless steel band, why would they move them back to the back of the phone requiring bands at the top and bottom. Makes no sense. And from a design perspective doesn't look right at all. My guess is one of the reasons Jony Ive pushed for theiPhone 4 antenna design is so he wouldn't be forced to have a black band on the back of the phone. If this design is legit it seems their going backwards. Makes zero sense.

I do not believe the smaller dock connector. Why would they flush the whole eco system?

Because this new smaller dock takes up less room on the inside, and leaves more room for other parts. Secondarily they were bound to do it sometime.

if thats the actual back of the phone, I couldn't really care, I'll just buy a back sticker and put it over the back, problem solved

If they want to kill the fast upgrade business, changing the dock port is the way to do it. I for one won't be dumping all of my expensive docking devices (Bose Sounddock portable for one) and replacing them just because of a new phone. Cars are just now starting to offer factory connection devices based on the 30-pin design. Try moving that industry to make a fast change or offer customers an upgrade. If Apple does make this change it could be their Windows Vista.

I still say this is a decoy. It looks ok, but there are a few things that just aren't jiving with me. I'm not making any bets, but my gut tells me this is a planned fake. I don't have anything against using the iPhone 4 design for another year though.

As for a smaller charging port, I'm all about it. Yes I have accessories that use the 30 pin, but to have a port that huge on a phone that small always turned me off. It's ok to move on, they can't use the 30 pin forever. If you're going to make a change, what better way than to debut it on the flagship device?

I hope this design is legit. I like it, especially the bigger screen.

now let's hope iOS 6 has some breakthrough features like an updated UI and inter-app communication.

No FCC markings

It can't be a US final part. It has no FCC approval markings on the back cover. It also doesn't have the typical "Designed by Apple" and copyright notice.

I don't like the idea of not being able to open the phone easily if this turns to be the real iphone  Just like my ipad I have a feel apple is just gonna put a lot of glue on front to keep people from easily getting into their device.

It's actually a lot easier repair with this design as the screen is the first part to come off, just like the 3G and 3GS. The iPhone 4 and 4S design is crapy for screen repairs.

What's with all the sudden prototype iPhones floating around? You think Apple would just let the real iPhone leaked out there?

Do you think they would just let the real iPhone walk away in a bar? Or let the chassis or screen for the new iPad leak from the supply chain?

Also I don't buy the controlled leak theory. The leaks I mentioned above preceded the product announcement by a month or two. I'd imagine that if the general populace thinks a new iPhone is imminent, sales will suffer. Just look at iPhone sales numbers during the fall quarter of last year while everyone was waiting for the iPhone 5- and then we didn't even have part leaks then, but just mockups and speculation.

Bingo. I do not buy killing the 30 pin connector.

Putting the headphone jack at the bottom is an awful idea because people who listen to music in their car through an auxiliary cable will have to have their phone upside down to make it work properly. Unless they make it where you can view it upside down like the iPad I think this will be a mistake.

FAKE obviously.

No way head phone jack is in bottom.

ANyone who uses an iPhone to listen to music while running or walking will know it can't be on bottom. How are you going to listen to music if the jack is in the bottom and your phone is in your pocket?

What about sports bands? No way are apple going to make the jack on the bottom.

TOTAL FAKE

I do, bottom is better for me. It seems to me the natural way to put the phone in my pocket, so that when I grab it out, it's in my hand the proper way.

Still cautious. Could be controlled leak as others have said.

Also cautious because there is not any type of info below the "iPhone" marked on the back. But I could see them using this a base and marking it depending on what model it is in production.

It's an ok design, I can't help but thinking that the two-tone is there for a reason, if this really is the new iPhone. Gesturing of some sort, wireless charging? Who knows.

Also, I cringed every time I heard them say iPhone 5.

The design is growing on me. I like the forsaking of the glass back, maybe I'm biased because mine is all cracked and smashed.

I'm looking forward to a bigger screen, I hope that there is a bit more screen to show when in keyboard mode.

Really looking forward to the next few keynotes this year.
