Guys I think it's fake

It has seams. Apple would never design a product with seams

Haters will be first in line.

Look I'm not happy they went with 16x9 either but it's still Better than our old retinas

Agreed; I call bs on this leak.

Aside from the seams:

1. The backplate - very much un-apple like.
2. The asymmetrical speaker holes on the bottom. Even without Jobs, Apple would never do that.
3. The lack of the 30 pin connector.

2. The asymmetrical speaker holes on the bottom. Even without Jobs, Apple would never do that.

I don't think they'd do that either. I'll bet one is still a microphone, and in a way I think it's nice that the two will be more easily differentiated now.

The move to a smaller dock connector has given Apple room to play with, enabling them to (presumably) include a bigger speaker and (2) move the headphone jack to the bottom of the device (which the evidence suggests is their actual preference). Let's wait and see how that larger speaker sounds before we complain too much about lack of symmetry.

If they are indeed changing the charging port to a smaller design...do you think they'll (or someone) else will make an adaptor to fit the older devices?

Why would they have to be symmetrical? That makes no sense. The microphone only has to be so big. I'm assuming the bigger one is the speaker. I actually prefer this and it makes sense. A bigger speaker will allow for louder/higher quality sound.

I think it is fake just for the fact that you cannot see the Apple logo.

Different situation.
You don't carry around an AppleTV with you all day and display it every time your use it.

The Apple logo on devices is free advertising for the company. Doubt they would give that up.

And what do you think cases do?

...
There is the desire to make the device thinner ... attach the internal components directly to the (stainless steel unibody) chassis of the phone.Just by doing that, you've replaced two components with one - reducing the thickness of the phone. The increased structural rigidity that comes from using a unibody chassis is also a plus.
...
Ive and his team are dealing with two conflicting design requirements, and the two-tone back is the result of this. In my opinion, the leaked part design is probably the most elegant way of dealing with this conflict - it looks good, and will look great when assembled and shot in a studio with proper lighting. Add to this the precise engineering/machining we see in the photos and it becomes obvious that this came from Apple and it's what the 6th-gen phone will look like, come announcement day.

It's just common sense.

Sounds reasonable. It could be an old prototype floating around but given the timing and the fact it corroborates the long 4" display rumors from various different sources while looking similar to iPhone 4/4S design, it makes sense for this to be the next model.

Also this would a good time for Apple to explore different color options. As shallow as that sounds, a variety of colors might be a real selling point for the buying public. I just hope the anodized exterior casing is durable enough against scratches. As shatter-prone as the current design is, I find the glass body does last very well in looks compared to other mobile devices.

Why would they have to be symmetrical?

Evidence - every iPhone up until now.

Some people has said the back side of the iPhone doesn't looks very Apple, but... I think I can imagine the reason behind that change, and no, don't thing that like somebody said it could be plastic at the center and glass at the bottom and top. My guess is it's the same material, just it's soft at the top and the bottom and texturized at the center, why this? for those who have an iPhone 4S... when you get your hand into the pocket... can you tell what side is each one, like you could do with the iPhone 3GS an all the older models? because these where different from each side, so just by touching it you could knew what side is the front, but with the 4 and 4S - I've got the last one - ... It's hard to tell! you have to touch the menu button to know it, or wait to take it out of the pocket and see the phone to know it. And precisely when I was looking for a screen protector I found one that had two parts: one for the front and one for the rear. Of course: the front part is totally flat, but the rear cover... ¡is translucent but texturized! And it turned out to be an excellent tool for me to just by touching the phone know what side is the front! My guess is that this is the reason for the appearance of the rear we see in this part.

Now, for the headphone minijack... has anybody considered that this characteristic: to have it on the bottom is typical from the iPod Touch??... What if this we've been thinking is the iPhone's update, but in fact is the new iPod Touch?? After all it's been much more time since the last update for the iPod Touch. And yes, this may probably be the appearance of the new iPhone 5, but may be the iPod Touch will come to light on this days with this new design and new screen size and that's the part we see here, and the iPhone will come with the same kind of case but in a few more weeks or months!

That's my guess...

Why not make the entire back texturized, instead of the the middle. It would still work as a guide to which is the front and back, but look nicer.

Change is not allowed?

So just because the iPhone 2G, 3G/3Gs, or 4/4S have something, it means they're not allowed to change it?

They all have the headphone jack on the top... If these leaks turn out to be true, it will now be on the bottom.

They all had a 3.5" screen... Should this 4" screen not be allowed because the previous iPhone's never had it?

Your thought process is absurd.

iPhone Colors?

The phone will be offered in these colors I predict.

I like it but don't think it will happen.

Why would apple change the dock connector after fighting so hard last year to make sure that they could keep using it to drop it on the next phone. I just don't buy it, why fight so hard to then go and change it?

I will most liKely pick up a couple of 4/4s before they kill that design.....i dont like where apple is going... 4/4s was best design/hand-ergonomical ever made.... Phone should fit in your POCKET

Well since the rest of the mobile world largely uses micro-USB on their devices, they have little choice but to a) use the same or b) something of a similar size. Europe stipulates the use of micro-USB for changing. I don't think Apple will offer such but will satisfy that issue with an adaptor, however may be they think carrying on with the current dock size was becoming a competitive disadvantage as others could offer more space efficient designs around that area of the phone?

1 word: MAG-SAFE.

I remember how everyone hated the iPhone 4 design when it first leaked. This could actually be the new iPhone, and it'll start to "grow on people." I can see it now....

I remember thinking "That doesn't look 'Apple'" when I saw the iPhone 4 Gizmodo leak. I'm kind of thinking the same with this new one. I'm sure it'll look and feel much better in person, but the back of it looks a little odd, and think it would look better all matte, but that's just me. I'll end up getting it anyway. Most likely 90% of the people will have a case covering it up anyway, and they didn't change the width which makes me happy.

The loss of the 30-pin dock connector will be a little odd to me.......not sure how they're going to overcome that one being that the new iPad will still have it, so now the "simplicity" aspect of all the iOS devices running on the same connector is now fragmented.

1. Back panel - could be for NFC. Ed McLaughlin of MasterCard stated:

“The timeline is always as rapid as it makes sense for consumers,” he says. “That’s a combination of having a critical mass of the merchants, which is what you’re seeing right now, and getting devices into the hands of consumers. I don’t know of a handset manufacturer that isn’t in process of making sure their stuff is PayPass ready.”

So that would include Apple then?

“Um, there are…like I say, [I don't know of] any handset maker out there,” McLaughlin says. “Now, when we have discussions with our partners, and they ask us not to disclose them, we don’t.”

Mastercard/Paypass to be NFC partner with Apple on iPhone 5?

2. Bottom headphone jack - Keeping aesthetics/design cross platforms, it would also allow easier access to iPhone screen when iPhone is in front pocket. Remove phone, glance down, see caller/track/text/etc. No need to jostle with the device.

I don't think I'm a fan of the darker metal material or whatever it is around the edges and on the back. If it was the same material as the iPhone 4 I'd be happy. I'm starting to prefer the white version of this backplate for this reason.
