iPhone 5 battery life [Merged]

This is what I'm shooting for. About 10hrs usage with a day or so in standby. I just completed my second full battery drain/recharge last night. However, It might be unrealistic because I work in an office that has a very weak cell signal. But I'm going on vacation next week so I hope to be getting this :D

So how much does that affect battery life? My last charge got me about 6 hours usage and 36 hours standby. The building i work in has thick masonry walls and it gets poor reception, so am i to understand that because of this, my phone on standby is working really hard to get a signal, thus draining the battery?

Oh and I should probably mention that when I got the iPhone 5, I had restored from my iPhone 4S backup, and it seemed to have crap battery life. So a week later I set it up as a new phone, while it improved it a little, it still wasn't great.

But last nights restore for some reason worked. It's now 2pm, and I still have 81%.

Before I'd be lucky to be at 60% at this point.

Looks like the iPhone 5 battery is finally starting to show it's true strength :)

I'm happy with mine, normal usage with LTE, wifi, calling, lots of iMessage etc.

Lol turning off the auto-set date time works wonders. I can't believe what I'm experiencing today. No way it was this good before and this is without iPod music listening. Image
How do you turn that off?

What site do you guys use up upload the usage pictures?

Some are using photobucket. I think thats the easy way - from your iPhone - But mine kinda bugged out. Sadly. Dont know if it was a trial or something :(

How do you have a % at the top on your phone but your battery percentage setting is turned off?

BTW I was not getting a good battery usage on my phone for the first 2 weeks I have had it. Not horrible but worse than my 4. I am routinely just above 6 hours. I did a full restore last night and selected set up as new phone and after it got done I went back and restored from the backup on my 5 before I started the restore process. When I took it off the charger this morning at 6:30am it was 100%. Right now at 4:40pm it is down to 70%. Light usage and watched part of a movie for 45 minutes and a short phone call as well as web usage and texting. Before I would probably be high 50%-65%. Not a huge difference but I have seen improvement by doing the restore process.

I will see how the next few days go. I am not on wifi most of the day.

Turing off "Set Automatically" in Date & Time helped me a LOT. It's a night and day difference.

Before and after. (note, I literally JUST turned off bluetooth. It was on the entire time.)

That's what I have learned from my experience. Having only one bar of signal is just draining my battery because its constantly looking for a stronger signal.

weird

I was getting awesome hours after restoring setting up as new, my phone was charging and after 100% I unplugged it phone call usage time 36 minutes stand by 43 minutes, charge 90%

horrible WTH I'd hate to restore set up as new again, I'll drain it to 0% and leave it off plugged in and try it again

I'm shocked  just when I was getting great battery life

i'm about where you are at, just about 6 hours per charge. i'm gonna try this and see if it gets better.

My son who has the iPhone 5 claims his battery life is amazing. Much better than the iPhone 4 he used to have. By the end of the day he's still on 59% and he uses it alot.

Guys, here's my experience over the last few weeks

Battery life wasn't great to begin with - around 4-5 hrs usage and 10-12 hours standby and it would die - and that was WITHOUT 3G (although still switched on), texting, calls because I still haven't received my work sim yet :(

this was my first iPhone so I set up AS BRAND NEW!

Anyway ... 2 days ago I reset all my setting as the people who set up using backup said they tried this and it seemed to work. I wasn't sure if it would cos mine was brand new.

So I reset. As well as that I turned off my 3G so I could only find WiFi at home and work ... (seeing as I've no working sim yet)...

So far I am on 54% and I have 4 hrs, 14 mins usage with 1 day, 4 hrs standby!

I'm well impressed. This is a HUGE improvement for me. Now I have been doing full charge cycles on and off for the last few weeks.... so I let it run down again and then charged it up to 100% and reset all settings and the battery life has improved drastically!

It will be interesting to see my usage and stats once I get my sim card from work .... I suspect it will not last as long as I'll be on 3G outside of home/work but I will be charging it every night anyway!

The worst iphone battery life I've had on any iphone....ever. I've had every model of iPhone from the 2G onwards.

Here's my wifes 4S on iOS 5 (with HEAVY usage) and my (second) iPhone 5 (At&t, with light usage):

(yes, the iphone 5 has been restored and every configuration toggled, including a DFU restore and set up as new phone - which is it's current congfig)

I've been browsing tapatalk and web on battery issues only. No other use and this is where I am so far. Same drain rate every day using cellular and any type of web usage. I'm always at 2-3 bars LTE, just snapped that photo downstairs without paying attention.

the reason why some people get 8 hours usage is simple. they use apps that don't kill the battery, such as messages, phone calls, music etc..

if you use instagram, twitter, THEN YOUR BATTERY WILL DIE faster

so simply put, if you don't use social media, your battery will be awesome.

i get this type of usage with twitter, instagram, facebook, safari and messages. no music whatsoever

5 hours, ~30 minutes
15 hours standby.

if i listen to music in the day, the usage goes up over 6 hours.

the people posting 8 hours usage, how bout you tell us WHAT you're doing on your phone. because i, too, can post amazing battery life if i leave my music player on all day.
