For the sale of comparison, post usage with cell data being used. Everyone will say they are happy with their battery if they spend most of their time on wifi, but I can assure you that you will not be near as pleased using cell data only.

Apples figures for LTE use are no where near accurate and inflated. I am seeing 4.5 to 5.5 as the average for myself and friends that have to go without wifi due to where we live. Even on here I see the same numbers for people who use LTE or 3G most of the day.

not quite as good as my first usage time of over 8 hours but still better than what I got on my 4S

7 hours, 20 minutes usage
1 day, 10 hours standby

We're going around in circles here guys. If you have used wifi at all, then there's no need to post any screenshots and or comments about battery life. I think it's safe to assume that there are no issues with battery life if you're using wifi.

Just like what some of you have said, I'm absolutely convinced that LTE is unusable on the IP5. It's a massive battery drain. All I do on the phone is SMS, Facebook, 3 push email accounts, and Mobile Safari. If I use it intensively, I get no more than 5 hours and 20 min. with LTE on. Using only 3G, I get more than 8 hours. Screen brightness is at about 20-25%.

I'll be shocked if someone is getting 8 hours or so of battery life with LTE and with the same heavy usage pattern as me.

Obviously you will get worse battery life on 3G or LTE..point is people were getting worse battery life before even on wifi...thats the point of posting the differences.

did people really think LTE wouldn't kill your battery?

Well I thought my battery woes were gone. Last night I went to bed with 90% with do not disturb on. Woke up 7 hours later and battery dropped to 75%... Wish I knew why.

Biggest draining app on my phone has been the browser. Other apps that use data are similar but safari is the top culprit so far for me.

How can you know that? Just because you use it frequently or there are apps that measure battery drain by a particular app?

Loving the battery life

I've managed 9hr 10mins of usage and 1 day 3hours of standby with 24% battery life remaining.

Mainly used for lots of fruit ninja (addiction), light net surfing (prefer using the ipad), lots of whatsapping, some calls and bluetooth music when driving. I'm almost always on wifi so I've got 3G turned off when I don't need it. I think that helped a lot. Also did a couple rounds of cycling the battery.

yeah, but it shows the time from last full charge, it was plugged in because i drained it fully.
And i know it was correct because before it died i checked the usage. :p

Doesn't matter. It's about what we see, not you. You could've tricked that up so badly.

No and you're missing the point. I'm not getting the kind of battery life that Apple say I should be getting with LTE. With 3G on, I am close. With such crappy battery life when I use LTE, I have no choice, but to turn it on during the work week. I don't carry a charging cable with me as it's impractical. During the weekends, it's more acceptable to turn on LTE, but my phone will be dead before I leave the office if I were to leave LTE on.

This was after the first inital charge to 100% (I killed it out of the box and then did a full charge). I was on 4G most of the day because I was out. Doesn't seem to be too bad, but I hope it'll get progressively better.

So, today my battery lasted 3 hours.... on flight mode! ??

I've been charging via the usb, on my airport express. Is it possible this has anything to do with it?

Edit: The battery shows 100% charge, when I unplug it.

I've noticed that when you use the phone, the battery life is pretty much the same as the 4s, however when in standby it seems to last a lot longer

Used the phone yesterday with just straight LTE and only got about 5 and a half hours of usage before it died. That's acceptable to me because all the downloading and streaming I did, plus my brightness was at about 45-50 percent. Now today I've changed a few settings today so I expect about 7-9 hours of better, maybe even more. And seeing how fast LTE is, I'm not surprised or upset that it would suck a lot juice up. It makes me wifi seem like it's 3g, I only going to turn off LTE when I'm in the house.

The fiqures apple give have never been spot on.

If we are talking about battery life not counting wifi then my 3G doesn't seem alot different to what i got previously. I havn't used 3G enough to make a realistic claim on that though. I can't say I use 3G alot as most of my main usage is on wifi.

My point was on the big improvement overall...even on wifi previously on the 4S battery life was a good deal worse. even though it wasn't good...

First time I've run it down and it's not too bad. Had a few hours of web browsing/social networks/watching youtube over both 3G and Wifi, hour and a half of music through bluetooth and another half hour of music normally, and the rest of it was just playing some games and some other apps. This is a restored backup of my iPhone 4 as well so I'm surprised.

Worse battery life i've had out of the 3 charges but this time ive been at work where signal is worse so hense battery dropping quicker. No 3G coverage at work.

5 hours, 45 mins usage
1 day, 10 hours standby

apple should have a third column of battery usage called "virtual usage" which will automagically calculate the phone usage based on a weighted average. for instance, listening to music for 5 minutes would chalk up 5 virtual minutes whilst playing a graphic intensive game for 5 minutes would chalk up 10 virtual minutes.

BOOM.

Boom whata bad idea sir.
