What are people recommending for getting better battery life? Restoring the phone or setting it up as a new device? I've seen different people suggesting both ways. Also will I need to be connected to the Internet?

Right now I'm at 40% with 4 hours and 15 mins of use.

I did a full restore, firmware/OS and setup the phone as new. Didn't make any difference. Some days I get excellent battery life. Other days it's horrible. My usage is consistently, very light. Pretty much the only thing I do with the phone it turn it on to check usage #'s. Works okay on wifi, soon as I leave the house it drops like a rock, even when not using it at all.

I don't think it's my battery because the drain would be consistent every day. Hope this is something they can patch and soon. Love the phone but the battery life is ruining the experience.

You are not alone by a long shot . . . if this hit the media there would of been an update pushed by now. Last years battery fiasco with 5.0 took less than a month for apple to update to 5.0.1. Heres just a small thread /S at apple's website iPhone 5 battery life

Definitely keeping up with that thread now too. Thanks. This can't be a secret though! Just bc one respected reviewer says 8 hours doesn't end it for me. I don't get more than 5 hours usage on cellular with full bars. I don't care who else does bc I don't! All of us who can't reproduce 8 hours with full signal like Anand have something wrong. Come on Apple....fix it.

I will add that standby is fine but using the phone to browse is bad. It still kills my old nexus though! lol

mines pretty bad... LTE off. hope Apple detects the prob. i should go very soon.

Is this any good?

EDIT: most of my browsing is on LTE because of wifi issues in my apartment.

I guess I'm doing pretty good?

Yup.

I get about 7 hours and a liiiiiitle bit more. But i have my brightness at 80/85%. I never use wifi at all. LTE is just too awesome and i'm paying for 5gb/hotspot, so i'm drinking every last drop of that juice.

How do you people use up all those gigs in a month? You should get used to use wifi instead of paying that extra.
I'm 8hrs 1day2hrs standby 13% batt,

I'm using wifi and for 3G I have 1gig and it seems like its never running out.

No complaints as of yet for battery life.. Only owned the phone for 2 days now... Although it was 100% all day yesterday. So that's good considering there's not much running in the back ground like my old Droid.. That battery was horrible

finally????

what did you do differently this time?

Heh, I don't know, frankly. I was surfing on WiFi just as much as I did before.
Played some Jetpack and thats it. Been texting, usin some apps like Photobucket and a quiz app.

Tips:
Go About --> Advertising --> turn on limit ad tracking
Bluetooth turned off ( I think everyone is doing this)
Turn off notifications and location services.
Thats pretty much it. And I have auto brightness off, which means I'm at 20-25% at all times.

woot

This is what I just got!
Some light gaming, youtube, about an hour of calls, tons of imessages, about 10 emails, some itunes match and lot of facebook lol!
All of this was on lte, wifi went on for the last 35 minutes of charge because I was not in my home!
I think is pretty awesome!
BTW, brightness is at 25 auto-brightness off!
