I'm not gonna lie I travel a lot up and down the northeast corridor on nj transit so I assume the constant signal searching has a lot to do with it but I don't know I feel like this is poor battery life, I love some opinions ImageUploadedByTapatalk1350602299.365310.jpg

I set up my phone as new and calibrated the battery a couple times and since then, I can get through an entire 8.5 hour work day and still have over 20% left. A couple days ago I had 40% after a full shift. I haven't seen battery life like that since my iPhone 4!

Mine was terrible. Took it to apple. The test came back normal, but the genius gave me a new one anyways. I'll report back.

all that means is how long your battery has been used since the last full charge... it keeps track of when you wake up the phone (usage) and how long overall the phone has been running on battery (standby)

8 hours, 6 minutes usage
1 day, 3 hours standby

Before I charged it with 1% left

So far I havnt got below 7 hours usage with the 5... So good improvement from the 4S

This is the longest I've gone before charging.

The best battery life of any smartphone I've owned. I love seeing 1 Day, X hours standby time and 7+ hours Usage time while still having pretty much every feature turned on and the brightness turned up!

Really?
Everything on pretty much except BT.

How many times does someone have to repeat: WIFI battery life is outstanding on the 5. Cellular radio use ISN'T. Use LTE or 3G to web browse or use apps that constantly use the radio for data and watch it drain.

Today, I didn't web browse but for a few minutes. Texts/cpl calls/music/email. My battery for today has been outstanding. I'm usually throwing a fit over my battery life but I usually browse and use tapatalk a ton.

KEY POINT: I did not browse the web! The radio and iOS needs to be tweaked to fix the constant draw of power when using data.

Got my 5 yesterday, first 10 percent took an hour, the next 20 took just 30 minutes (listening to spotify's offline playlists) the rest is streaming over 3G. Mixed feelings. (had it in standby for almost all day). Will try without spotify tomorrow :)

I'm getting great battery life. A ton better then my previous iPhone(3GS). By the way my phone finally died 10-15 minutes later after this screen shot.

I'm getting like 6-8 hours on average right now. Used it a lot today with FaceTime, web surfing, and watching a lot of YouTube mobile. Over 6 hours right now with 12% left. I have every possible battery tweak on, so I'm hoping this normal...

Anyone in Northern VA having low reception issues with AT&T? Even if I turn LTE off, it's not helping battery life.

I don't know, it's weird I can't get the percentage to go away. Probably a file from my previous jailbreak?

Hey, if this is anything like the field test decibels instead of signal bars thing, then you can fix it by Settings>General>Reset>Reset all settings
This'll reset things like ringtones, brightness, etc. it will also delete all your wifi passwords as well, but should fix any issues with the menu bar. It won't delete any data, like contacts, emails, messages, apps, music, etc. worth backing up beforehand just in case though.

I wonder how many of you with high usage numbers are listening to music with your screen locked. When I sleep, I listen to SleepStream.app with the screen locked. It only uses 10-15% of my battery but it counts towards my usage. If you just left music playing through your headphones, you could likely get days of usage (not standby). I think this is the reason for some of the high numbers. These people couldn't possibly be getting 9+ hours of solid use with the screen on the entire time.

I fully agree. I think anything over 9 hours must be at least partly due to music, either into headphones, or via BT with screen off.

I can get a max usage of 8-8.2 hours without any music or screen off streaming. I'm totally happy with 8 hours actual usage, but, if I listen to music screen off a few times a day, I can and have gotten my 8 hour usage time up to 10.5.

I think it's a bit disingenuous to post a usage screenshot of 10-12 hours and convieniently forget to mention the 1-4 hours of music. Makes people with 7-8 hour batteries feel like they got screwed when in fact they have a good battery.

Getting 6.5 -8 hours usage with 12-20 hours standby on average.
Best usage ever that I've gotten on a cellphone. This is a big improvement over the 4 or 4s.

Keep in mind this also has to do with the signal strength where you are using your iphone. If the 4G or
LTE is good than the phone doesn't have to constantly search for signal and your battery life is increased.
