Now that we are seeing a bunch of charging docks, I wonder how long until iHome type docks start showing.

a bunch? I wish there were a bunch. as of today, I've seen the braeburn, the lightning dock, the cheapo China one, the element, and some wood ones.

Ok I think I have found the craziest solution...

I have a great idea for a simple solution using an existing cable, but don't know if its worth pursing. I foresee hundreds of these things by Christmas.

Braeburn dock is ok. As others said it comes with sticky tape but I used Velcro tape to secure. Wish it didn't sit so upright. Also, when you have the cable installed the cable has an unnatural bend to it in order to get the cable to clear the back slot.

Nice, I got two of the Silver. Impressed with the quality of this dock and its cheap! The sound amplifier actually makes the sound more stereo than mono and significantly louder. To be honest, the dock sitting upright is of no issue to me; I actually prefer it because I when I wake up in the morning to hit the alarm the phone display is in the line of sight with my pillow instead of tilted upwards. I did receive an email from Braeburn about the "feet" that are now shipping to remedy the issue but I prob wont use them.

Not a bad idea for dock, art least it's got the weight so you don't have to hold the dock down to remove the phone.

Thinking about using wood, or something fun and making my own dock, using a standard lightning cable.

I had just ordered mine on Amazon. I ordered the white version and there's a black version as well. Unlike the the older version for iPhone 4 it seems that there is no audio output available on this one. The seller told me that it is due to the limitation of the the lightning connector which does not support analog signal.

Here'e the link for both colors:

I wish they will also update the Apple Store with a new universal dock on the Tuesday announcement...

Thanks for keeping us updated. Im so ready to order it if it works.

I'm getting to the point where I need a dock now as well. I used to have one for my iPhone 4. Now with no dock, I see my iPhone 5 get below 10% battery now because I keep on forgetting to connect it. With a dock, it was so innate to charge it once I got to my desk.

I don't think they have to announce it in the event, for just a dock.

I just don't understand why would Apple left the dock and bumper behind for iPhone 5...

Moreover, it is very profitable...

We all wish but it doesn't make sense because it's and iPad/ Mac event not an iPhone/iPod event.

Obviously it wasn't as profitable as you think. Schiller has said in emails to customers that the majority don't use standard dock (like apple produced) an therefore they won't be making one. Not entirely sure why you still think they will?

I believe you are right, it is profitable but not that many people are using it...

I guess if I don't see that in the Apple store tomorrow, I will place an order for the 3rd pt dock from HK.

If you want to go with a Shenit (on amazon) they dropped price to $19.99 shipped... from china

forget it's profitable...it's the first time Apple changes to lightening, they released an adapter and two different cables let alone micro USB cable in Europe yet they didn't release a dock which is as important as all the cables...

actually, they should've included it with the iPhone this time...i think they did with the first iPhone, right?

Important to you, mildly important to me, and of absolutely no consequence to the overwhelmingly vast majority of iPhone purchasers.

GONZ,

How heavy is the full aluminum version and do you have to use 2 hands to undock, or can u use 1 hand?

thanks.

You do need to use two hands. The lighting connector is so tight that you have to use two hands. Had same dock for ip4 but plastic and you could use one hand.

Still looking for a good dock here also, I used to use my old Apple dock nearly every day plugged into my work PC. Now it just lays there on the desk, really hope these start popping up soon.
