wow if it's "mildly" important to you then why did you check this thread? ;)

Because its just that, mildly important. As in, I want one, I would benefit from one, but I've more than managed this time without one, without saying the obligatory "OMG, no docks, the sky is falling," that many are saying.

Do you mean the factory don't have the time to catch up the dock production because of the new lightning cable/adapter/micro USB adapter?

Yes, the 1st iPhone is included the dock, and they work with 4/4S.

I believe they took it away from iPhone because docking is not really a "standard accessory" that come with a smartphone.

forget it's profitable...it's the first time Apple changes to lightening, they released an adapter and two different cables let alone micro USB cable in Europe yet they didn't release a dock which is as important as all the cables...

actually, they should've included it with the iPhone this time...i think they did with the first iPhone, right?

You do need to use two hands. The lighting connector is so tight that you have to use two hands. Had same dock for ip4 but plastic and you could use one hand.

Thanks. So how did you modify it, you drilled out the old cord and epoxy in the Lightening cable? Any tips or was it pretty straightforward?

Would you recommend getting the aluminum over the plastic? Are you happy with it or is it a temporary stand until more stands come out?

thx

got my iphone 5 dock.. and did a break down as well..

well it works good, that lightning dock that goes into the iPhone in the dock is made out of circuit board material, its not metal or anything, im sure it will last it shouldn't snap off.. its got weight to to it but needs more, to undock u gotta hold both type of deal.. im going to add some metal weights in there..

do you think it's possible to trim the circuit board lightning dock a little bit on its sides so that the spring doesn't have to snap in?

The one I ordered had the mini usb so I was able to take apart the housing and glue in the new one. Either one is fine, I just wanted an aluminum one. I am happy with it. It's just for charging at night so I don't need anything else.

a thin case should work, theres a little room behind and enought left and right of the iphone..

That is the Shenit dock? That "circuit board" is scaring me a bit... mine should be here tomorrow.

looks like it. i bought mine off ebay.

When inserting your phone, can you just glide it in to charge? Or does it require you to line up the lightning exactly for it to go in?

The thing I liked about the "Shenit" over the other docks is that it has a groove to cradle the phone.

thanks for sharing this...is it as thick of the Apple Universal dock or is it more like the iPhone 4 dock? i'm hoping for something small and light like the iphone 4 dock.

its like apple designed the dock sleek and slim, i mean its not big or bulk, it just needs more weight so the iphone can undock its self when you take it out.. thats the only negatives..

yes not complicated at all, line up with home button, thats the center and bam dock it and your good to go..

I have been really tempted by one of these docks, but I am a little worried about the "circuit board" looking lighting connector, do you think these could void your warrenty?

why would it void your warranty?
its 30 bucks for the dock, nothing crazy to overthink here, its breaks it breaks you just pull it out of the phone with pliers.
i have been using it for the past few days i dont see it breaking anytime soon..
its clearly not the best idea to make it out of circuit board but if you think its harder to make it out of that aluminum..

----------

Would that work with a bumper/case on?

its hard to say.. i dont have anything on my iphone 5 just a rear skin. from phantonskinz..

I don't recommend using this dock

You have to apply force to put it in & take it out

I would be afraid the connector breaking inside the phone

Also putting it in the dock you have to be real careful since the connector is so small is a little hard to get it in on the first try , you might scratch the bottom of the phone

The dock needs more weight so it doesn't move

I think apple didn't make a dock cause it would lead to a lot of problems with the lightning being so small

I will continue to use my elago stand

And no it doesn't work with bumpers

I have 2 transparent bumpers from eBay

Thing is you have this long connector that has to go inside the iPhone & this thing is long

Yikes. My Shenit dock is coming in the next day or two. I hope it has a decent connector that doesn't feel/look like *****

at first you gotta get use to where the lightning plug is.. then it easy.. yeh atleast this is a decent dock station for a temp solution..im not afraid it will break, once it does we will see from there..

Just got my shenit dock... It does not work!!!! I ordered on Oct 12 and got it today it doesn't work. I just emailed them. I'm sure ill get screwed because they are located in China.
