I bet they're replacing the 30 pin connector on all three products. You have three different products, each using the same old connector that have usually been released months apart, now all three are coming out at relatively the same time. Just a hunch, but it seems like an old annoying adapter and it seems like a good time to refresh it.

hopefully it will be out before i head back to college I cracked the screen of my iPhone 4 and got it fixed thru another store and now it has a greenish tint that is really bothersome so I wanna get rid of it

It makes sense that the iPad 3 would be released in time for the holiday season. That's when a lot of competitors will likely release their best attempt at iPad imitations and might get close to the quality and performance of the 2. Best to hit the market with a brand new iPad leading into gift buying season that is unmatched.

Come to think of it, releasing the iPhone closer to Christmas doesn't seem like a bad idea either.

.

Apple doesn't need the holiday season to increase sales. They'll sell every iPhone and iPad they can make whatever time of year they're released.

They won't get rid of that adapter... Part of what makes the iPod/iPhone lines so popular is not having to upgrade all of your accessories. Some cars come with an iPod port, can you imagine how aggrevating that would be!?

I do, however, think that apple might release a 30pin cable to thunderbolt cable. Id pay $20-25 for a cable like this.

I find it hard to believe that Apple would release another iPad this year, considering the amount of people who bought the second one. These are expensive, premium devices. It's not a good idea to alienate your customers by making their purchase obsolete immediately. I can't really think of any another time where Apple has released a product and then released an entirely new version of it so quickly.

The good news is that iPad's hold their value extremely well, good news for those who want the latest model anyway and have a 1 or 2 to sell.

Have you looked at Ebay for iPad 1 prices lately? As soon as the iPad 2 was released, prices for the 1 tanked hard. I had a buyer for my iPad 1, but after searching ebay the fairest price I could find for a 32gb 3G was $400.

The main goal, I think, is to stay far ahead of competitors. Which means releasing a new iPad that is head and shoulders above their best products, when their products are released.

Waiting in line for this one. I skipped Iphone4, but now my old 3G want to rest. :D

Have you actually used any of the other tablets that are out there? It's almost embarrassing that some of them even exist. In short, Apple has nothing to worry about there.

This is sort of why I would wait for the iPhone 5 and not splurge on another mac since my 2009 MBP 15" is good enough for me instead of buying a new MBA. I'll spend less with the iPhone 5 (going from iPhone 4) and I'll probably use it more and have fun with it more lol...

That's why I haven't personally bought an iPad yet. It's a new product that was a success and has created a new market at the expense of notebooks.

Until market saturation is reached you can expect there to be regular refreshes as companies compete for market share. Projections for tablet sales into the future are sky high, so expect short refresh cycles and rapid advances in technology as companies compete to establish their tablets.

For now my MBP serves as my tablet because I don't need both and I think it makes sense for me to wait until tablet growth has slowed some and the product isn't refreshed quite so often.

"The news report also reports that the next iPad may be delayed until Thanksgiving due to component shortages."

What a bunch of ********.

Everybody knows that the amazing iPad 3 isn't coming out until December 24th, 2011. This way, it will be ready for Santa Claus to deliver it to all the good children's stockings on Christmas morning.

:)

When you say "they won't release it the same year as the iPad 2" all I'm hearing is "they won't release it because the previous model is still for sale."

I predict that Ford won't come out with a 2012 F150 because the people with a 2011 F150 will be upset.

Your analogy makes 0 sense. For the most part the vehicle industry comes out with new models ONCE a year. Not 6 months after the previous version. Hell, even the car dealerships advertise that 2011's are the "end of year" models.

They can barely keep up with demand for the ipad2, and some tech journalists says maybe a ipad3 will be released this year and everyone is falling all over themselves trying to make it true.

Thanksgiving is when?

The Web stretches beyond the US you know. You forced me to Wikipedia to find that it's the fourth Thursday of November. :)

Fair enough, I went ahead and got an iPad 2 anyway with the thought in mind, that the longer I wait the less I will get for my iPad 1 down the road. However, had I not had such an eager buyer for my iPad 1 I doubt I would have upgraded to an iPad 2. Would have maybe waited for the 3 or 4. Either way no regrets for me, as I use my iPad at work daily, couldn't go without it at this point.

There's zero chance they'll release the iPad 3 this year.

Reason 1) At the iPad 2 keynote, Schiller said something to the extent of 2011 being the year of the iPad 2.

Reason 2) They are still selling a massive amount of iPad 2's. There is absolutely no need for them to release another so soon. It doesn't make financial sense.

And for all those iPad HD rumors, how long did it take for Apple to segment the iPod line? If I remember right, the iPod mini came out at the same time as the fourth generation iPod. They still haven't segmented the iPhone line (not counting selling the year-old models along with the new models). Why would they segment the iPad line after the second generation device? It doesn't make any sense.

So many ipad 3 rumors for this fall should mean its probably true...

Many people are going to be so mad... but Im gonna be very happy cause my ipad 1 needs an upgrade and ipad 2 is not worth the money since there is no major updates.
