One question still remains: Will it read?
Everyone always brings this up in an iPad 3 debate. Regardless of whether or not it does or doesn't come this year, that means nothing. Secondarily, it was Jobs that mentioned that in a keynote not Schiller. There's zero chance they'll release the iPad 3 this year.
Reason 1) At the iPad 2 keynote, Schiller said something to the extent of 2011 being the year of the iPad 2.
With every iPad 2 made being sold, what reason is there for another iPad this year?
I just don't understand it. If people say the "retina display", why wouldn't they use that as the headlining feature in the iPad the next year?
There seems no reason to piss people off with a new iPad when it could just as well come next year. Steve was also pretty clear when he said "This is the year of iPad 2"
I just don't get it
I hope they dont go the touch route design. I really do think the current Iphone design is the most beautiful it has been.
2nd week of August sounds great! I really hope they ship it to more countries in the first round.
I am pretty sure Gruber hinted at the iPod Touch being replaced by a low end iPhone, which is actually pretty smart I suppose:

EDIT: I got down voted for posting Apple rumours on an Apple rumours site? Interesting.
The main goal, I think, is to stay far ahead of competitors. Which means releasing a new iPad that is head and shoulders above their best products, when their products are released.
I find it hard to believe that Apple would release another iPad this year, considering the amount of people who bought the second one. These are expensive, premium devices. It's not a good idea to alienate your customers by making their purchase obsolete immediately.I can't really think of any another time where Apple has released a product and then released an entirely new version of it so quickly.
there is NO WAY iPad 3 is coming this year.
1) First off, Steve Jobs said, with a big sign in his presentation:
Image
2011: Year of the iPad 2.
2) did you just see the financial results of Apple last week? iPad 2 is selling HOTCAKES.......... and just recently did supply catches up with demand. NO WAY iPad 3 is coming this year.
3) Retina ipad.... it sounds like a BIG feature to me. Double the resolution? That means it needs a bigger and better GPU! CPU probably too.
I'd rather wait for a full blown upgrade for that.
CPU, GPU, RAM + Retina display. That's an iPad 3 for me....... I am happy with my iPad 2 right now.............. I'm not hungry for retina display THIS YEAR.
