My 2 year contract with my original Motorola Droid (VZ) ends in September... waiting patiently for the 5 to come out. If it's any later than September, I'll probably just get the 4.

iPhone 5 maybe but no iPad 3 this year.

The iPhone 5 is behind compared to the usual refresh cycle. An iPad 3 launch in the same year as iPad 2 is likely to cause a lot of resentment among their loyal customers. Besides they aren't under much threat in the tablet space yet, still very competitively priced.

Agee and I hope they fix the no sim error, I will be upgrading my iPhone 4

As for iPad 3, I have an iPad 2 and love it - but I don't expect iPad 3 this year. It would be so cool if iPad 2 actually had new features when iOS 5 comes out that they didn't tell anybody about.

I'm gonna find steve jobs and slap the crap out of him if an ipad 3 is released this year

Lol in b4 followers defend their God :p

I'll surely keep my iPhone 4.

The i5 is definitely going to be fine but I think buying the i4 was a good choice for everyone. It looks super cool, its display is beautiful, and the OS works like a charm. Why should I change it after just 1 year?

And it's good to feel that you spent your money for something which is good enough for at least 2 years.

So when I'm buying the iPhone 6, I can have a pleasent feeling that my good, "old" iPhone 4 served well.

There could be an iPad 3

Jobs says alot of stuff that it later negates as he release said product or feature that was a "none issue."

There could be an iPad 2 HD or iPad 2+ or some crap. It would still be the year of the iPad 2, just a different variation.

It makes sense that the iPad 3 would be released in time for the holiday season. That's when a lot of competitors will likely release their best attempt at iPad imitations and might get close to the quality and performance of the 2. Best to hit the market with a brand new iPad leading into gift buying season that is unmatched.

Come to think of it, releasing the iPhone closer to Christmas doesn't seem like a bad idea either.

The good news is that iPad's hold their value extremely well, good news for those who want the latest model anyway and have a 1 or 2 to sell.

Yes, but most people need a couple of months before they can locate one in the store so the release in September is still a Christmas release!

That is what I believe. Especially, with the rumors (pre-iPad2) that it wasn't exactly what they wanted to release. I have played around with other tablets and they don't seem as bad as people on here make them out to be. They seem pretty fast and work really well. I just don't care to change OS or re-buy apps - so, I will not be in the market for a non-apple product for quite some time.

If the iPad goes higher resolution in any form, I will buy one day 1.

Please, Apple, please put a really really good camera in the iPhone 5. Like the one in the Nokia N8.

Ah, I feel bad for Nokia. The version of their OS on that phone was starting to show serious promise, and the hardware on the N8 is beautiful. But that camera in there? Absolutely sick.

This comment is actually one of the best arguments against the impending arrival of the iPad 3.

Apple hasn't finished its international rollout of the iPad 2, nor has it met demand internationally. It has reached a supply balance in a handful of countries, but not all.

I read a post on daring fireball that showed some amazing data: Apple sold a lot more iPhones by NOT releasing a new model sooner. I guess if people can finally get it, and the threat of a new one out so soon is removed, they feel more comfortable about buying it.

I don't think it's unreasonable to think an iPad 3 or 2HD comes out in 2011 and I don't think iPad 2 owners will be that upset. The iPad 2 is a great device. If the next gen iPad comes out in May 2012 vs November 2011 are iPad 2 owners going to feel that much differently about their device? Probably not.

Maybe but Apple catches many more upgrading fish casting the net in March/April 2012 (not sure where you get May 2012 from as no U.S. iPad has yet launched that late). iPad 1 prices plummeted when the 2 was released b/c all the 1.0 owners (like me) dumped them simultaneously. Even at the retail level prices had to be slashed at a much bigger % than is the norm for discontinued Apple products b/c demand for the rookie model plummeted.

People want the latest and greatest. But they also have to have time to digest the cost of the purchase. One year is doable but Apple can't relay on a constant upgrade effect if they issue new models every 6-8 months. One of the reasons the iPod was just a gold mine for Apple was because the fall Apple Event stoked the consumer's appetite to upgrade annually. If they constantly pumped out new models iPod sales growth would have resembled an Iowa cornfield rather than Mt. Rainer.

And this is why there won't be an iPad 2+ or 3 in 2011.

This Photo is FAKE

I think the source of the photo is suspect. I believe that the photo of Steve Jobs standing in front of the iPhone 5 slide is a FAKE.

bogus

I still think that it's a bogus rumor.

An iPhone 4S still seems most likely since all the hype is going after iOS 5 later this year. Why would Apple intentionally draw attention away from the iOS and iCloud features with a brand new piece of hardware. Especially when the focus on this update is to be about software.

Not to mention that the excitement about iOS 5 is that it will be instantly compatible with all existing iPhone 4 users. Hopefully this includes AT&T and Verizon customers. Not like the 4.3.whatever for AT&T and Verizon's 4.2.10 separation.

Apple sold 20 million of the "antiquated" iPhone 4 last quarter. Heck, the iPhone 3GS outsells every single Android handset.

I bet they're replacing the 30 pin connector on all three products. You have three different products, each using the same old connector that have usually been released months apart, now all three are coming out at relatively the same time. Just a hunch, but it seems like an old annoying adapter and it seems like a good time to refresh it.

They won't get rid of that adapter... Part of what makes the iPod/iPhone lines so popular is not having to upgrade all of your accessories. Some cars come with an iPod port, can you imagine how aggrevating that would be!?

I do, however, think that apple might release a 30pin cable to thunderbolt cable. Id pay $20-25 for a cable like this.

Apple has already made us change equipment several times in the past. FireWire wall chargers, thinner connector for newer cables (the old ones won't fit any case that doesn't have an open bottom end), and audio playback for newer devices (a friend of mine bought a brand new car in 2009 that had USB iPod support, but iPod touch and iPhone are incompatible so it only works with classic and oldschool iPods).

So that's not really a good argument for not ditching the 30-pin connector in favor of something smaller.

(in fact I'm surprised apple wouldn't be all over microusb for the iPhone as they seem obsessed with getting rid of all ports, they already ditched standard sim-cards just to squeeze more stuff in there. But I guess slimming down the device is not that useful when you can't lock the users in ;). )

I hope they release the ipad 3 this year and I hope it's an almost fully functioning IOS lion (mobile version) with a damn usb port.

Ipad1, Ipad2, not for me, just a big ass iphone with no calling function.

Why is that?

If there is an iPad 3 in 2011, I'm sure half of the purchasers of the iPad 2 will be seriously pissed off!

The possibility of an iPad 3, coming this fall, has been discussed since iPad 2 came out. If iPad 3 actually comes out for the holiday shopping season it should surprise nobody.

Well good for you!

The Web stretches beyond the US you know. You forced me to Wikipedia to find that it's the fourth Thursday of November. :)

You do realize that the world would be a better place if more countries celebrated Thanksgiving. So instead of complaining about your ignorance of one of the most important holiday on the planet, embrace the positive roll it plays in society.
