I'll be receiving my 32gb black unlocked iPhone 5 TOMOROW before 3pm! Heck yea!

Our phones must be traveling together. Or they did at least up until they reached Kentucky. Mine says it departed at 4:12PM.

I, too, nicknamed my shipment "iPhone 5".

The fact that this keeps happening each year makes it a different story. I was not surprised with the 2007 line, but I am shocked that this keeps up.

I got my first iPhone (3G) at the Apple store in October 2008 (no line and it was before you could buy one online, the Apple store's employee had to set it up for me.) I then got my second one (4) online June 2010, it arrived the day before release day (so I was already using it while people were standing in line at the store)

I would not wait in line like this but I am fascinated each year!

I will get the 5 but I want to wait for the dust to settle before diving into a new model.

Now that there are pre-order options, I don't understand why so many would choose to literally camp outside a store...

Probably because they can and its a good time hanging out with other iPhone liners.

Athough there are better phones out there noone can market the brand as good as Apple !
I went to one of the major stores first day when Galaxy S3 came out expecting a line for Samsung's biggest hit ...... i was alone and noone behind me!

Pretty sure he could get a "hook up" but enjoys the experience. A lot of people line up for that reason, or they are actually paid to be in line (sponsorship, promotion, etc)

I seriously don't know why people just didn't stay up one night to pre-order right when it was available. Kinda glad they didn't, cause who knows if I'd be getting mine tomorrow

Sometimes the most efficient way isn't the most fun.

There is a computer game coming out in a few days that I can get a digital download version, but I'm going to the midnight release to pick up the game in person. It's more fun, sometimes there is free stuff and I get to talk to like minded people about what I'm buying.

I believe the iPhone 5 is supposed to be the last iPhone that Steve Jobs had input on it design.
