iPhone 5 Logic Board Shows A6 Chip, Qualcomm MDM9615M LTE Modem, Hynix Flash

Cool... The 6th iPhone, running iOS 6, with an A6 CPU. The "5" name makes perfect sense.

Good grief, get over the name. It's a marketing name, and makes sense because 5 comes after 4, whether or not it is the 5th iPhone model or not. Windows 7 and 8 aren't the 7th and 8th versions of Windows, technically. The iPhone 4S ran iOS 5 and had the A5 CPU, so the name "4S" makes perfect sense, right?

Underwhelmed so far.

LTE
Bigger Screen
Faster processor

All items that have been out on competing phones for a while.

No NFC is gonna be a big bummer.

I think it will be A6 just so they can claim it is new. I don't think it will be quad core, it will just be a higher clocked dual core A5 on the 32nm process with an improved GPU.

My theory is they cant say it uses the A5 because then everyone will claim it's the same as 4S. But they cant use 5X because that would be overpowered on the GPU front, hence it will be named A6.

This.

Not sure what to call my iPhone 4s now ...
Is it iPhone 5 because it has an A5 chip and it's the fifth phone? Or is it iPhone 6 since it will soon have IOS6?

Let's goooo alreadeeeeeeeee!

Now, should I stay with my 3GS a few weeks more and let the wrinkles iron themselves out or get one as soon as it gets out, that is the question!

I should just make this my signature:

It's not about the FEATURES anymore. Its about their IMPLEMENTATION. We have yet to see how Apple does LTE, the bigger screen and their "faster processors" are generally infinitely more efficient than the competition.

I think there will be plenty of other things announced as well. But the fact that it seems MOST people buy based on the newest feature is why MANY have expressed disappointment in this iPhone release and I'd argue many subsequent phone releases from here on out (even though it hasn't even been announced). I'd imagine it also leaves you open to various marketing techniques of "BRAND NEW" and "NEVER BEEN SEEN BEFORE".

Someone around here has a Jony Ive quote that hits the nail on the head. Something like "Doing something new and different is easy. Doing something genuinely better is hard."

Just get it. If there are issues, :apple: will exchange it like they did for folks who weren't happy with the screen issues and antennagate. You won't be stuck with a buggy phone.

Average Joe on the street doesn't know it's the 6th iPhone running the 6th iOS, to them it make more send calling it the iPhone 5 following this logic which they no doubt will use.

iPhone>iPhone 3G>iPhone 3GS>iPhone 4>iphone 4S>iPhone 5, again not really caring about what generation the phone is ;)

Don't forget things like:
- Iphone 3G
- If you are old enough to remember "Leisure Suit Larry 4"...

(I'm sure I could find others, if I didn't have a life...)

Syntax error

if "second child" = gender(child 1) then "second child" = ("child 1s") else "second child"=("child 2")

SYNTAX Error : Cannot assign gender(child 1 ) to "second child". Did you mean == instead?

A lot of cool stuff coming out just before the keynote. I am most excited for that new iPod Touch now that the "5" has been leaked everywhere.

If you don't play games this means nothing (A6). its just that having A5 would cause problems as thats what 4s has. Those screaming for Quad core are the same ones that say specs don't matter when Samsung beat Apple on specs. SMDH

Still looks lame to me no doubt people will hype it on here to justify them purchasing it and giving Apple more money.

PS I WILL BE GETTING THE PHONE. BUT STILL LOOKS LAME UPGRADE WISE

Does any one know if the Qualcomm MDM9615 modem is compatible with China Mobile?

I believe yes, as it supports TD-SCDMA. That would be a HUGE announcement for Tim Cook to make, as China has been one of their weaker markets to date.
