take the phone to an att/verizon/sprint store and explain what you are doing, they should be more than happy to help, and resist the temptation to turn it on before you get it activated at the store.
 
Unlocked iPhone 5 for virgin?

Will I be able to buy an iPhone 5 unlocked and put Virgin unlimited 3G ? Someone tell me plz so I can order...thnx
 
both ATT.com and apple.com crap out at certain point of order process for me. But the store app worked flawlessly, twice!
 
Black 32GB AT&T order placed via Apple website, added Lightning to 30-pin in hopes of it working with my Hyundai Genesis iPhone integration.

I'm migrating from an android phone so I can't use the app :(

the mad refresh game began about 20 minutes ago, and the two carriers I can't use are up. apple and sprint, what's the deal?

Not so fast. It appears you can change your shipping address via the Order status page without a problem. I guess they changed things this year. Very pleased Apple. Very pleased!
 
Used the app and got my 32gb AT&T black right out the gate. Could not add AppleCare+ though. Still have 30 days to add it in store however so I will just do that at some point. Out of curiosity I still have not been able to get into the Apple website store.
 
Upgrade was a total BREEZE. Thought it was gonna take me hours like many people stated. I did everything under 1 min on AT&T's website. Now i can go to sleep ^_^ Night!
 
Both the app and the Apple site in Safari do not work for me.

I tried it in Chrome and it let me right in...

Odd. Safari still doesnt work for me either.
 
Don't order from Verizon iPad

Tried to order and it kept asking me to upgrade the device. Strange. Switched to Verizon web site, done by 12:07
 
Just got my confirmation email from apple, also saw the pre-authorization go through for $1 on my PayPal MasterCard. Woohoo! First try on apple store app, no problems

Just never activate the new iPhone with the included SIM card. Switch SIM cards before you even turn the phone on and activate it with your current number.

Even if they still add the data plan, you can cancel it if you have that SIM in a dumb phone.
 
Opened late: But it worked!

The Apple Store opened about 5 minutes, but once in, it only took about 3 minutes to finish. No problems.
 
Added a line to my verizon account since i wasnt eligible for upgrade,they were open 5 min early! Was in and out in minutes,16gb Black got white last yr on preorder,was going to again this yr but yhat black looks so cool i decided for a change:)
 
Easiest ever....had to buy two (replacing two on the account), so I had to do them separately....no sweat!
