iPhone 5 Pre-orders Set to Begin at 12:01 AM Pacific Time Tomorrow [Update: Confirmed]

wish it cud be available in my country but i have to wait like 2 months or more
but damn the black one looks just awesome and its my choice!

Two years ago when I ordered my iPhone 4 I was only 13 hrs after preorders began. I had to wait 2 and a half months to get my iPhone. I have the vacation time saved. I'm going to get my order in this time.

That was the 4, this is the 5. Completely new product, less revolutionary.
Besides, what you should have done is go the next day to your nearest ATT store and see if anyone forgot to pick up their orders (they get released the day after). That's how I scored one the next day in the morning

well my apologies I wasn't intending to be as snarky as I ended up sounding.
I did do some back tracking to when I bought my iPad and it charged me when it shipped. Hope that helps.

Here is the question; I currently have a tmobile w/o contract. I'd like to bring my phone number to att tonite while I get the new iphone online.
Can this be done in my case? Or should I go to a store to make it happen?
Ps: I even want to be the part of an existing plan with Att which makes it more complicated.

THIS! It took me age to get my hands on my iPhone 4 as well! Constantly ringing around places.
Well it's now 12.13AM here in the UK and no change on the website so looks like we all get it at the same time!!! hahahaha... man I gotta be quick come the morning to get mine before the whole site crashes.
I remember when the retailers here held a fire sale on HP's Touchpads, pretty much EVERY on line retailer that had some crashed and then they were gone!
Black. But man I'm so torn between att and verizon. I have att but I can switch to verizon on oct 11th which means i'll have to wait. There is no LTE with att where I'm at but plenty of Verizon towers with LTE. The problem I'm having is this new article about iphone 5 on verizon not support talk/data at the same time. Japan's preorders start at 4pm today (Friday). Much more civilized. The stars have aligned for me too, as I finish work at 3:15 and there is a SoftBank store a block from my work.

I called verizon and they are already taking orders,although they wont submit them till morning,i ordered 16gb black,i usually get white,but i really like the look of the black,so my order is set to go,the rep said when he gets in the morning he will be submitting all the orders he's taken,i will be getting it on release day,i was just told to accept the order confirmation email when it is sent,they were also offering a bundle for $245 you get the iphone 16gb,cases,screen protectors,home and car chargers,so i went ahead and got that,so i am good to go!

You can still order the phone online from Verizon as a new customer and port your number. The only issue could be the heavy traffic on Verizon's site tomorrow morning.
Probably will be safe to order at 6 am but you never know. I seem to recall rumors last month or so about supply constraints due to yield issues with the new in-cell displays. And when the iPad 3 pre-orders opened I got my order in within an hour (it was an afternoon launch and it took an hour because the servers kept timing out / crashing)... and by evening the shipping estimates increased to 3 weeks.
So I have no doubt the phones they have set aside for preorder will sell out sometime tomorrow. But do you have to get up at 3 am? Probably not.

Well do you use data a lot ? I got AT&T and I have data blocked to save money at work and home I have wifi so it's fast. It depends if you really use data a lot.
I've already set my alarm for 3:00 am EST!!

Yes, Android has more features, Samsung has more power and Nokia have the best looking phone I've ever seen, but I'm going to get the iPhone5.
Because I don't need the latest & greatest hardware or software. I don't buy any accessories or products that don't operate wirelessly, because I want to be able to use them with multiple devices, and sometimes I want to let my friends hook up their samsung or HTC to the device so we can listen to their music.
The fact is that Apple will stop supporting this device in 3-5 years because they operate on a planned obsolescence business model. So I'm going to buy this mid-range product knowing that it is over-priced, missing major tech, and will be outdated within 2 years. I don't care. It suits what I need right now and I need to upgrade my phone. If my business/personal needs change then I will change my phone, but for now, this will do the trick.

i asked an Apple employee today when she thought people would start receiving their pre orders, she said about 2-4 week? that doesnt make sense right?

AT&T website now down, just showing a "big event" splash screen
Hmm... was just surfing ATT's website looking at phones (not iPhones) and suddenly at 10pm EST, the whole site disappeared, with an auto-reloading splash screen which says: "Excited for the big event? So are we!"
And there's a countdown clock...
Sadly, nothing else on ATT's website can be accessed. At all. Cannot log into an account, cannot browse anything. Nada. Must be trying to give their servers some R&R before the onslaught.
