The next iPhone will have just enough new features to warrant an upgrade for many people, and lack just enough to piss off the rest.

True words was never spoken.

That is also why I think they will wait with NFC and wireless charging.

I don't care about the specs, the iPhone 4S already has great specs. I want the next iPhone to be like a mini iPad 2. The backside of the iPad 2 is absolutely gorgeous and I love the matte aluminium as a case. The way it's tapered makes it also very comfortable to hold.

My predictions
3.7-4.3 inch screen
96gb storage
1gb RAM
A6 Processor
Something better then SIRI
12 megapixel camera (back), 3 megapixel camera with 720p (front)
adobe flash player if your plugged into charger maybe?
96GB storage? Haven't you noticed a trend? 16, 32, 64... 96 is not the next logical step, if it were, then there would also be a 48 GB model. And I would be shellshocked if they ever allowed Flash.
The 3G in iPhone 3G stands for third generation mobile network, not third generation iPhone. The iPhone 3G is the "iPhone 2". It is in no way a 'series 3' device. That is the 3GS.

iPhone = iPhone 1 (with iOS1)
iPhone 3G = iPhone 2 (with iOS2)
iPhone 3GS = iPhone 3 (with iOS3)
iPhone 4 = iPhone 4 (with iOS4)
iPhone 4S = iPhone 5 (with iOS5)
Potential 2012 iPhone = iPhone 6 (may or may not be it's name).

Yes, they could call it the iPhone 5 (IMO a crazy move) but until we know, we need to be talking about the "6th iPhone" and the thread title needs to be "6G iPhone predictions?".
They will call it the iPhone 5 in all likelihood. Your little "table" is almost completely false (with the exception of iPhone 4 = iPhone 4). The original iPhone was **NOT** called the iPhone 1 (even though you seem to think it was), nor was the iPhone 3GS called the iPhone 3. YOU (or I) don't decide what the iPhone models are called. Apple does. There was no "iPhone 2". So no, the iPhone 4S is not the iPhone 5. The iPhone 3GS was the 3rd generation iPhone, and the iPhone 4S is the "5th Generation iPhone" (nobody can dispute those claims), but it is NOT the iPhone 5. Period. Just because you think of a certain model as an iPhone GENERATION# doesn't mean many, or any others do.

One thing I know is Apple markets and produces iPhone models for a 2-3 year run almost to a point where I don't need to rush out to buy one. My 4 that I paid $370 on launch day will be free or $49 with contract by next year. And if I didn't, the aftermarket will so big that I can always get them dirt cheap. I see iPhone 3Gs going for under $150 off CL. The popularity is so high and the available so common for second hand iPhones, that they all really become like yesterday's newspaper. You can pick up a used iPhone 2G for $60 off CL and that cost 10x more when it first came out. So you basically get the latest iPhone to have it early, try selling it at its highest value, or having more than 8GB of storage space.

But it is easily scratchable

We will still be heavily dependent on iTunes for most media transfer and other needs.

Bet on it.

:(

Apples next iPhone will be called the iPhone 5, so why would we call the iPhone 4S the iPhone 5?

it's ok, I like taking wild guesses at things and claiming them as fact too

The next iPhone will be called iPhone 64gs

But it is easily scratchable
No, not at all. My original iPhone hardly a scratch on it (I think 0) after I sold it after two years of usage (of which one year without a case). Aluminium doesn't scratch that easily. It dents however (E=69GPa for aluminium), but that's a different story.

The 4S is the iPhone 5. Why don't people understand this?

The next iPhone will be sporting iOS 6 and will be the sixth generation of the device. It would make zero sense to call it the iPhone 5.

Just like it made zero sense to call it iPhone 4S when it is supporting iOS 5?

plus how do you know it will be supporting iOS 6? do you have access to Apple's release schedule? No didnt think so....

My predictions

3.7-4.3 inch screen 4 is max.
96gb storage Definite no. 128GB would be next.
1gb RAM Likely.
A6 Processor Likely.
Something better then SIRI ???
12 megapixel camera (back), 3 megapixel camera with 720p (front) Eh...
adobe flash player if your plugged into charger maybe? Big fat NO!

My Prediction:

4 inch 720p resolution screen edge-to-edge glass Possible.
1gb ram Likely.
32gb/64gb options --
8mp cam --
A6 processor Likely.
black/white options --
LTE Likely.

A Thunderbolt port would be nice.
Sure would. :D

You mean iCloud? You no longer need iTunes for syncing.

iPhone 6

4 Inch display possibly
No Physical home button
A6 Processor 1.4 or 1.5 Ghz
NFC
12 MP Camera
5 MP Front Facing camera
iOS 6 which includes Apples in house 3D maps service
Thinner Body style
Dual 3D Sound speakers as opposed to the one speaker the iPhone has always had.
13 Hour Battery life

My wife is chomping at the bit for an iPhone. I'm trying to talk her into waiting for the iPhone5, thinking maybe this Summer.

What is the conventional wisdom/best guess as to when the iPhone5 will be released?

My prediction:
Thinner design
Same screen size
Same capacity options
Better battery life
Marginally improved camera
Siri comes out of beta
A6
1 gig of ram
More seamless OSX integration but nothing added to windows compatibility
Improved gpu
Maybe some crippled form of NFC
