Sounds to me like there is a database problem of some sort. "null" doesn't mean zero. "null" means nothing is in the database field it's looking at.

I agree with this. Or some problem calculating the actual value so it represents a missing value.

Chicago store North Michigan Ave has most models in stock...

How exactly did you find that? I clicked on buy iphone on the retail page button but it just takes me to the regular order page that says 3-4 weeks for shipping. It doesnt let me select a pickup location

Thank you

Same here..

For all those wondering, this 'check availability' trick is only working on the Apple Store app. You just go through the normal checkout process, when you get to the 'shipping' section the local pick-up option will be greyed out, scroll down the page and tap "pick up store." From that point just successively tap all the stores within your zipcode checking availability. FWIW I'm on the West Coast and ALL stores say available by Oct. 30.

To check availability use the Apple store app. At the checkout screen if you scroll down you will see a place to pick the store nearest based on your zip. 10pm EST is most likely when the stock will update for each store. As of right now it seems a lot of stores are just showing null. So once that time rolls around you should be able to do in store pickup IF its available at your chosen store.

FYI, I can check inventory, too, on the phone app but, like everyone else, still can't order anything. An online chat rep insisted that this had to have been because they were out of stock, but OTOH I then tried ordering one that *was* in stock (at a Dallas store - I'm in Houston) and still had no luck. Btw for those Texans on the board, there appears to be wide availability of all models, including the most sought-after 16GB white & black AT&Ts, at nearly all of the Dallas store, but at none in Houston, San Antonio or Austin. Or at least that's what the board's telling me now; I'll try again at 10pm PST, like everyone else.

Yeah seems to be that way. Must have to wait until after 10 for them to change over to the in stock or unavailable for pickup options

Someone reported earlier changing the type zone on your computer would do the trick.. Lets see if it works for you?

I was able to change and get past that point but was not able to pick a store via my macbook.

using the iPad I got through to the checkout but pickup was greyed out.

Guess I'll be waiting a bit longer.

Words cannot express how pissed I'll be if I wait up till 1am and Apple drops the ball AGAIN.

if last year is any indication the actual number of phones will exceed what's available on the reservation system. Remember, they will only set aside reservations if they know for sure the phone will be in stock. If you can't get in, there's no harm trying at the store tomorrow.

Otherwise, there's also no harm waiting a little while. Again, last year supply finally matched demand after about a month.

I also don't see a "right to an iPhone" in the Bill of Rights. I'm not directing it at you, but some of the comments I've seen here and elsewhere compel me to respond. :)
