iPhone 5 Reservation at Apple Store

Yay, got one! Black 16gb AT&T.

I have to say thanks to everyone in this thread for the advice. I wasn't eligible for an upgrade on launch day, so I waited, not paying attention to availability until I could buy it (of course). Boy was I disappointed when I saw that 3-4 week ship time. After reading this thread, I tried and scored the phone I wanted after 4 nights! I also did a little dance.

Found it at Greensboro, NC store in Friendly Center.

Okay, now who's got the hookup on adapters? ;)
 
Decided I will upgrade two of my lines today and scored 2 AT&T models today as well! One 16GB white at Target and One 16GB Black on reservation for tomorrow at Apple Store. Got real lucky since my friends have been looking for past two weeks and had no luck finding any model in my area.

Received my order processed email. Now waiting for Pickup email from Apple Store.
 
Does anyone know if you can change the line the upgrade is for when you're at Apple? Been trying to exchange my iPhone for weeks now but it seems like reserving is the only way to get one. I reserved it on my 2nd line but what I want to do is return my iPhone and use the renewed primary line upgrade to get that phone.
 
Reserved a Black 16gb AT&T for my buddy over who lives in Dallas over at the Southlake store. Seems like tonight what I saw was Columbus OH, Chicago, Orlando, New York, Greenwich ct, Southlake, Knox st DALLAS,
 
how are you guys finding one in & around LA? i've been hitting the locate button like crazy from 9:58pm and not once did i see a store showing that it has stock
:( not sure what i'm doing wrong.
 
I got the phone in my cart at 9:50 and then my wife asked me to watch something on TV - I couldn't get away (she doesn't know yet) - I jumped up at the last minute - it read 10:00 on my mac and I hit locate - there was the little green 'in stock' letters for Fashion Island and I banged out the keys and it was done - I hit locate once (the last couple of nights I hit it over and over)
 
I saw some 32 GB Black AT&T in the Bay Area, specifically Palo Alto, Burlingame, and Stanford. They lasted a few minutes. None in the Sacramento area where I'm located, so I'll try again tomorrow.
 
Anybody know if you can reserve one of these & upon pick up, change your plan to an unsubsidized plan? Device only? How does anyone else who wants the phone w/o the 2yr commitment price get to reserve?

thanks, will try that tomorrow. if i can't get one by this friday, guess i will have it delivered, let's see.
 
I just had the iPhone 5 in the cart by 9:45PM PST and started clicking "LOCATE" at around 9:46PM.

The inventory updated around 9:58PM.
 
Yesterday i picked up my 64GB White in the Apple Store Amsterdam..
I got picked out the 2nd day i filled in the form.. and the funny thing is, i got the last iPhone of the Apple Store Amsterdam.. It's totally sold out now :)
 
if you are on VZW, call your local VZW stores, don't wait for Apple to get stock.
Walked in yesterday to VZW and bought 32GB iphone they have a few in stock (Chicago)

Yeah but it is extremely tricky and you have to trust the other person. My friend trust me with all his info and has no luck with the apple system. I have been able to get all the phones I want. Setup my friend to pick up a local sprint yesterday. Reserved one for my buddy AT&T on apple. I reserved 2 couple days ago for AT&T 16gb and 32gb. We setup a profile online with all his info saved. He gave me his information and while we were hanging out together. I put the order through and checked out on my laptop since I had multiple screen and browsers checking the local stores. Your friend will have to be present or give you all his personal info.
 
I finally gave up after trying for nearly 2 weeks and only seeing phones once. I figured at this point, Verizon's supposed ship date is only a week from tomorrow, so I might as well order before THAT gets pushed back...
 
So you didn't order for someone else,you ordered using someone else's info.

Yes I ordered using his info for him to pick up by him self. He does not have the patience to order and wait for apple to update. I have got a good system that has worked 3/3 and got me next day notification for pick up.
 
I went to the genius bar because it had wifi issues and they didnt even have any in stock to replace, said I have to wait 2-3 weeks. I just returned it and they put the money on a gift card. I'll be trying my luck tonight. Maybe it was meant to be cuz I was able to get a black one and of course it was bent all out of shape. They only had whites left for me to exchange and I took it. Now maybe I can get lucky this time around...we'll see

Yes you reserve the phone and when you get to apple, they will cancel that order you made online and do what you wanted to do.
