Tomorrow is the big Apple dog & pony show, lots of new products, likely pre-orders for a new iPad model or two... I wouldn't expect any difficulties tomorrow with this process...no, sir. It'll be smooth sailing.

Tonight I could only find a phone 266 miles away from me, and it was gone in 3 minutes.

I guess third time's the charm. I'd tried Saturday night, last night, and tonight I finally got my Verizon 64gb white iPhone 5. I had everything set up on my apple store app with the express checkout and as soon as the clock hit 10:00pm I went for it. I tried to do it again just to see if there were stock in other stores and by 10:02pm the same model was gone in all the stores (I think there are around 15 stores that are within 2-3 hour drive of my place). This is so crazy.
 
For people who reserved one and were able to pick it up, did you have any problem with the whole primary ID, secondary ID issue? I just realized that my driver's license address is 2 years old and doesn't match to the address on my verizon account which is my current address. The utility bill is in my mom's name so I can't use that either. I printed out a Bank of America statement that has my name and the current address so I'm hoping they'll be okay with that :confused:
 
So the thing that confused me was is it 10pm est or pacific when you're in CA? Because I noticed that you could check the stock after 7pm here in CA.. :confused:

Local time. yes, you can check stock from early in the evening but the inventory doesn't get updated until 9:58 - 10pm

to anyone who is still trying, have all your information (credit card, address, etc...) updated and login to apple.com using your apple id and have the items in your cart & be ready.

The trick that i noticed, is, if you have more than 1 item in your cart and if you have selected "All eligible items" when you hit the locate button then it's going to be hard for you to find anything, select each item from the drop down and search for each item separately. "All eligible items" option will work only if all the items in your cart is available in the store, it's like all or nothing. i am pretty sure about that and start checking from ~ 9:58pm or so.. good luck!

I am in the south but all my ID is up North because that's where my house is. I didn't have any problem showing my ID that is out of state where I picked it up. They sometimes asked for the credit card you use to pay for the online reservation. You might want to print a Verizon Bill than your BOA statement though.

customers will be able to make their purchase online starting at 10 p.m. Tuesday; stores that have reserve inventory will hold the purchase for next-day pickup.

All my apple buddies have confirmed this day as each person was successful getting their phones on this day at 10pm sharp. Try it, what do you got to lose..

STARTING on tuesday. Not JUST on tuesdays. I got mine on a saturday night. This whole thread is full of people who got them other nights.
 
Has anyone tried having two different browsers open and trying to order two different phones (i.e.: a 32 OR a 64) and seeing if one or the other is in?
Does that make sense?
I've been trying for an AT&T 64 for a few nights, but I could live with a 32. Would it work to have, say, chrome open with a 32 in the cart, and safari open with a 64 in the cart and hitting "locate" on both?

Any movement on your pre-order? You gave in and did that, right?

EDIT: nope; if you're logged in, it combines them, of course. I'll leave the one with the 32gb "unlogged in" and see what happens.

I did, nothing as of yet. preordered a 32gb black on Sunday night.

I tried opening a new tab and got an error saying I have an existing iPhone order already so I'd need to cancel it so im gonna see if I can reserve one and see what happens...
 
Personal Pickup Issues

I purchased an Iphone 5 16GB Black ATT online on 10/20/2012 via the personal pickup. I received an email confirmation that it was processing.

On Sunday 10/21/2012 I received an email saying that my Iphone 5 was nopw in stock and ready for pickup. The store of choice is located one hour away from me. I drove the right after receiving the email. When I arrived I went to an Apple employee and handed him my paperwork and informed him that I was there to pickup my Iphone 5.

He then entered the order number into his handheld device. He then informed me that the order seemed to be cancled. I told him that was impossible since I have paperwork showing me that the order exsists. He had no idea why that was happening and left to see if he could find out why. He returned 15 minutes later with an excuse that there was a glitch in their system and they were unable to sell me the phone.

His only resolution was for me to buy the phone again and wait for the glitch to be fixed then they would reimburse my funds. I had purchased the phone with an Apple gift card and did not want to purchase it again since I had all of the proper correct paperwork showing that I had already purchased it.

Needless to say I left on Sunday without my phone.

I called the store on Monday to see if it was resolved. It was not. I then contacted Apple corporate and was told they knew nothing of any glitch. They also showed that the order was in fact still there and they extended the pickup date out to 11/15/2012.

Two hours after speakiong to Apple customer service I was contacted twice from the Apple store where my Iphone was located. They informed me that the problem was resolved and Icould pickup my phone any time. I was not able to get there until Tuesday 11/23/2012. When I arrived I again handed my paperwork to an Apple employee. He then informed me again that the order was canceled and I could not have the phone.

After lengthy talks with several people at the Apple store. It was decided that I leave the phone and wait for the system to update again. I was told to call in 3 to 5 days to see if things were fixed.

My question is has this happened to anyone else trying to do a personal pickup at Apple store?

I look forward to hearing from anyone.

Yes, I was switching from AT&T to Verizon and reserved a phone through the system while creating a new account with Verizon in the process.

Same error for me....

Plus.... i just read in another thread that when you keep running credit checks* (for new customers), it has a negative effect on your credit score.....

This is getting more and more ridiculous
 
Yeah I'm getting kicked out too with errors. Tim Cook has absolutely dropped the ball in this regard as far as I'm concerned.
