Reading through all of last night's posts to this thread, and having had zero trouble finding TWO iPhones for pickup in NYC where others complained of finding none, I'm beginning to think that not everyone is doing it right.

There have been a number of instances where one person declares that there's not a single (black/white/AT&T/VZW/etc.) iPhone in (state/county/planet) only to see someone else successfully reserve one a few minutes later.

Are we all following the same procedure here? What's the deal? I saw TONS of stock all over NYC last night. I don't even see what there is to "refresh over and over" as everyone seems to be doing. The stock searches in a pop-up search box, and it didn't seem to change unless I changed the model in my cart, even over several minutes (accidentally ordered for ship, had to cancel, enter everything from scratch, and order for pickup again).

Perhaps it's not as horrible as it seems?

What size were you getting? I was looking for a 64 gb and saw none in NYC or DC areas

LOL Do yourself a favor ... Do it at around 1:05 am est again. :)

Tried again...no luck. Gave my wife a list of 15 ATT stores...she is going to be like a telemarketer this morning...on the quest for 2 iphones. Let's do this!:D

I checked for black 32gb & 64gb AT&T in NJ/NYC and only found one 32gb but it quickly disappeared.

I'm in Boston and have tried to use the personal shopper function 3 nights in a row now. Sitting there hitting refresh for an hour - with no luck! Tuesday night I saw 1 or 2 16gb pop up in one of the nearby stores. Maybe a 32gb came up too - disappeared within seconds. However no 64gb have been visible, and nothing was available last night. Anyone in the Boston area having luck? I'm certainly getting frustrated hearing people in other regions say they have had no problem!

I made a reservation on 09/25 at 1am (est) which was 10pm (pst) and was successful.. a local mall had a white 16gb Verizon Went and picked it up at 11am that morning with no problems. It was the last iPhone 5 in the store they sold out of all sizes for every carrier. Like I said i did this at 10pm Pacific time but the server really didn't update until 10:04 pm so be ready.

And where are you picking it up from? West Coast or East Coast?

I was able to reserve a 32GB AT&T White last night for pickup in Southlake, TX. It's about a 20 mile drive for me but there was nothing available closer to my home or work. Confirmation e-mail arrived this morning around 7:00.

Unfortunately I need 3 more for the rest of the family...

I have not seen a single 64GB in the last 3 days I've checked in the Boston area either.

I don't think I'm doing it right :) I was looking for an AT&T 16GB black last night to no avail. Tips please.

No dice in the Boston or Providence area.

Me neither. I started checking at 10pm last night. Checked for 30 mins, then every so often till midnight. Nothing from Maine to New York (not that I would drive that far). Anyone know if there's any point in just showing up at an Apple store when they open?

Now that I went and opened my big mouth...

Um, did anyone else reserve successfully last night? If so, did you get your confirmation [EDIT: Got confirmation, I mean the 'ready for pickup'] email yet?

I reserved a 16 gig white iphone 5 last night and received my confirmation email a few minutes later. I'm still waiting on the Pickup email though. This is for the New Orleans apple store.

Oops, that's what I meant. Mine are reserved at the 14th street store in NYC. No ready-for-pickup email for me yet either.

I'm wondering the same thing too. Basically, I just go through like I'm going to preorder the phone, this way I can already enter in the information for my Verizon account and choose the model of the phone I want. I do this before 930 local time. Then I just have the item in my cart ready to go until I can click on the link to pick up at the store. I click on the link, enter in my ZIP, and just keep hitting "Locate".

I'm not sure if I'm doing something wrong here. But I'll also be checking my Apple Store app on my phone at the same time.

How is everyone else checking (refreshing) to see if their stores have stock?

basically the way you're doing it. I get the same results though. Looks like ATT black 64gb is sold out from NH to NC

Rather than keep the shopping cart open, I moved the iphone to 'saved items' and then put it back in the cart when the time came. Moved it back to 'saved,' then back to cart to check again.

has anyone been able to get an iphone by just walking in the store w/o a reservation since this whole things started?

I just got off of the phone with my local Apple Store. They said that they do not have any iPhone 5's available for walk-ins. They are selling using only the online reservations.

So I hope the system actually works tonight and/or they get a shipment in tonight. I imagine they'd probably keep a small reserve of stock to sell over the weekend (but that's just pure speculation on my part).
