I tried 32GB later on just to see if there was anything showing up anywhere. That's when I saw a white in San Antonio and I think a black in Austin somewhere.

However, I had no intention of getting a 32GB.

I had a black 64GB ATT model in my cart since 9:45 and started hitting LOCATE a minute or two before 10PM and got no love from Apple.

I have had both a 32GB and 64GB Black AT&T in my cart for the past four nights ready to go. I have seen ZERO of those models at either San Antonio apple store or Austin stores. I'm in Philly this weekend for a wedding and saw ZERO tonight as well at the 5 area stores close to downtown. Unreal. Started searching the East Coast at 15 minutes prior and kept going until 10 minutes after. Did the same thing when the Central Time Zone opened up its order banks.

Congrats to those of you that got your phones tonight!

Glad to hear. Almost exactly same situation here. Reserved my wife's white verizon online. It was activated in store but wanted device only. When I got home I called Apple and they said I could just return and repurchase. Looks like I'll make a trip tomorrow to return....hopefully I will be picking up a black Verizon 64 as well! :D

Just spoke with my folks who helped us buy the phone device only. They had some serious issues with Verizon and took about 2 hours to activate/return/repurchase. So just a word of warning when you guys try this. Make sure you have plenty of time.

I believe it is both, but reservations this year are different from last year in that you actually have to have payment ready and in the system before you reserve, so the reserve is held for 7 days instead of 1 day. It does mean it will take longer for those reserve phones to be available for walk-ins. Last year, if you didn't get your phone by 6pm, your reserve was forfeited and up for grabs.

Yup last year I walked up to the store around 545pm and waited and was able to score white 64 device only on first try. Took a couple of tries to get a white 16 but was manageable.

This year it's a bit harder, and it's harder to get them device only with this reservation flow.

Now that I have mine in hand I'm a little sad I don't get to spin the Apple wheel every night.

got a black 32gb verizon at 5th ave NYC store. Initially wanted a 16gb black but it looks like there's no hope of getting that anytime soon so I'll take this.
RadioShack all over the city have tons of 16GB Black. I called a bunch of the stores today and many had stock of 16 and 32GB. None had 64GB.

I'm starting to think my local Apple Store isn't participating in this "reservation system." How could they not receive one 32gb Verizon white in five days?

After trying night after night I gave up didn't even try tonight to get one in Boston at 10. Then on a whim I tried at 11:57 instead of 10 and VOILA snagged the elusive black 64 gigger!!!! Makes me think they update inventory throughout the night, not just at ten -- or for sure it would have been long gone by the time I clocked in at 11:57. Picking it up tomorrow at the Boylston store!!!

I feel the same way. I've also been looking for the same model as you but here in AZ. There hasn't been anything!

Have you received the email saying your item is ready for pick-up? That's the important one...

I think it's actually cheaper to buy the phone with a contract and cancel it the same day... It should work out like this:

32GB no subsidy: $749
with subsidy: $299+350(etf)+35(activation)+(80/30)(one day of service)=$686.67

Today I picked up my VZW iPhone, activated the phone with the VZW SIM, then went straight to the VZW store to cancel the account. No problems at all. It's unlocked (tested with ATT and Rogers SIM), and works great. One thing I noticed, I checked the unlock status on dev.mk before turning it on, and it said "LOCKED". But once I activated with VZW SIM, it changed to UNLOCKED immediately.

I wish you could specify "device only" on this pre-order for in store thing. Is there anyway to pre-order a verizon one and then when i go to pick it up ask em to ring it up "device only"?
